Very information I never realized or considered the impact or even gave it much thought. While I am all about taking care of the environment, some of these wackos go overboard; with the ordacity to take it on themselves to improve or assist nature. This proved that impact thoughts were not considered in the 30s. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Good information and Thanks for educating us on a subject many have never considered.

I really enjoyed this episode and discovered a bog local to me here in Wisconsin! I took my kids there last year, and our minds were blown. Here were purprea and sundews sprinkled everywhere. I'm an educator myself who's published a few children's books. I told them how these plants' ancestors were growing all the way back during the time of the dinosaur.

That is awesome on publishing the books!!!! That is so cool!!! Yeah it is really crazy. They have a carnivorous plant leaf that is trapped in amber. It is so cool to see!! There is a video on RUclips about it!!

@Carnivorousplanthelp I just won a gem of a plant at auction. Nepenthes Species: Nepenthes Rafflesiana (Tristan x Winged) any advice for best care for this sp? Have you done a spotlight on different sp and care yet that I could watch?

That is awesome!! I haven’t done a video on this. It is going to be a lowland for sure. Keep temps higher if possible and humidity up!

Good video. I've been thinking, if you have the priveldge of collecting and caring for plants, odds are you love the natural world and our environment. Its important that we as consumers do our best to make ethical and sustainable choices in how we grow or the things we purchase,

Yes, very true! I think each grower has a responsibility to ensure they grow these plants with care. I think some people see them as endangered and try to place them where they don’t belong. This is not only bad for the carnivorous plant but for the natural habitat as well!

Another example found in an article on reseachgate: "Drosera capensis forms mass populations at Albion Bog, California, USA, threatening the unique ecosystem of Pygmy Forest. The locally native D. rotundifolia does not stand a chance against the vigorous superiority of the weedy D. capensis that occupies its habitat."
Never put plants in the wild or remove native plants and animals from the wild . And watch keeping plants like the drosera capensis in your garden if it borders a nature reserve or bog.

Wow! Great research and great insight! Yes Capensis is a weed for sure and worries the most of all carnivorous plants next to maybe utricularia longifolia for becoming invasive!
