It's impossible that you couldn't see that in comparison between videos from three webcams only in insta360 Link your face and hair are in focus. I can see single combed-over hairs. In videos from both obsbot webcams your face is softer, slightly off-focus and has yellowish hue, your hairs are glittering and flickering as if they shot with lower resolution cam. I'm not a big fan of overpriced niche products as Insta360 Link is, but let's be honest.
Thanks for a great and through video review; good balance between usability and technical aspects. As a photographer, I'll say that the Insta 360 Link's overall signal-to-noise ratio of the image is slightly better than the OBSBOT Tiny 2 PTZ, but it's a very minor detail, and the benefits of the OBSBOT Tiny 2 PTZ far outshines this difference.
I realize I lost some resolution trying to match framing with each camera mounted right next to one another. The focus clarity is equal at 0% zoom. The OBSBOT Tiny 2 is factory tuned with more contrast and sharpness, which does impact SNR, but that can be equalized by moving those two values down 5-10%. I have a feeling that Insta360 has better image processing in the firmware for denoise and adjusting optics, just because their other action cameras do this quite well. It looks like well-processed flagship mobile phone camera footage a bit to me. The OBSBOT Tiny 2 does have a bigger sensor, so assuming hardware optics are relatively equal, it should have more dynamic range. You really see the difference compared to the original OBSBOT. Net-net is that image quality is very close. I wish I had also mentioned in hindsight that the Insta360 Link has a 3-axis gimbal, whereas the OBSBOT has 2-axis, so camera always needs to be on a level surface or bubble. The software from OBSBOT is more feature-rich, so it kind of makes up for the fewer axes. All that said, I still think the OBSBOT Tiny 2 has a slight edge, but it's close.
Dude... just HOW are not drowning in 10's of thousands of subscribers?? Awesome... awesome webcam review videos with a tremendous amount work put into them. Great and useful details - you always dial them in... just really good stuff. Thanks for the quality work. Helping me big time on selecting my next webcam purchase.
This is an awesome deep look at each of these 3 options! I had the OBSBot v1 but returned it and have been thinking about the Insta360 Link. I think after tweaking the Insta360 looked maybe a little better than even the OBSBot v2 but it's very close. For me I think the Insta still wins just because I can install the software on Mac since it's a proper developer for macOS. The OBSBot software unfortunately can't be installed on my work device since it's an unidentified developer. 🙄 Thanks so much for covering these little PTZ cameras! It's amazing how much tech is crammed into these things!
Thanks John. I thought you had the Insta360 already for some reason. The OBSBOT movement, tracking and default color is better though. I think the digital zoom had a tiny bit more detail on the Insta360 Link, but that could have been my fault in matching framing or the differences in native FOV.
I also agree that the INSTA360 Link has some commendable aspects, but after thorough testing and comparisons, the OBSBOT webcam proves to be a strong contender. OBSBOT's robust software and remarkable tracking technology make it stand out. Don't let the software limitation deter you from choosing the OBSBOT webcam, as it offers unmatched performance and features.
I need to take a video of my clayart at my desk, but I'm thinking about which camera to buy. I think Obsbot's function will satisfy my needs. Thank you for the good review.
The sensor size is key to the dynamic range. The image tuning out of the box is really good with this camera and now I've tested it with a few background colors and I think the other key is center metering versus full frame metering to auto adjust the image.
Looking at the fidelity in your hair between the Tiny 2 and Insta360 Link shows a big win to the Insta360 in my opinion. Why does the hair in the Obsbot images seem to have poor anti aliasing or some sort of pixel scaling? This spoils the superior colour performance of the Obsbot.
It has a wider FOV. I pushed in a bit to try and match the framing of all three cameras. Since I was capturing at 1080p, it wasn't noticeable at recording time, but I did see it in post.
In the end, no matter how much additional fluff they add to the product in terms of goodies, it's all about image quality. And with that regard, I think the Link has more details, less noise production, and better overall look. Especially when you look at your hair, the Link far outshines the Obsbot options.
When you actually experience it, both cameras have excellent picture quality, but because the Insta's connection isn't great, so... I'm using the Tiny2
Image quality is subjective, and we have so many ways to adjust image that we can achieve our preferred look with any of these. Once we can achieve a satisfactory, even excellent image, user experience ultimately image quality.
I would need to try this. You're saying if you use it without connection to a PC or Mac, but just connect to an Atem with a USB-to-HDMI will the PTZ tracking work without the software. I think it would at a basic level. It doesn't autolaunch the app on PC, so the onboard firmware in the camera appears to be independent from the PC. Again, I haven't tried it, but I suspect it would work.
Got the OBSBOT Tiny 2 pre-ordered and was curious about the comparison. Definitely, a good choice to upgrade from the OBSBOT Tiny 4K I'm currently using.
I was kind of hoping it would be better than the Insta360, because its image was superior, but the tracking and hunting wasn't good. I did update all firmware just before filming this.
It's impossible that you couldn't see that in comparison between three webcams only in insta360 Link your face and hair are in focus. I can see single combed-over hairs. In videos from both obsbot webcams your face is softer, slightly off-focus and has yellowish hue, your hairs are flickering as if they shot with lower resolution cam.
I digitally zoomed in a little to match framing. The OBSBOT has a wider field of view. Look at the individual wider shots. Focus is comparable for all three. In hindsight, I wouldn't have put the cameras next to each other on the same tripod, same depth.
Great video, thank you. I am coming from a Brio. I ordered the Nexigo N970P and I am not all that satisfied so I will be returning it. Do you think the Tiny 2 will do well in low light backgrounds?
I tend to go by sensor size for low light performance. Would be curious if the N970p was a step up from the Brio 4K. I like the Brio again ever since the last firmware update and Logi Tune software controls for exposure and gain. The Tiny 2 has a much larger sensor compared to the Nexigo or the Brio at 1/1.5", so it should radically outperform the N970p 1/2.8" and Brio sensor size is unknown (but small). It actually should be close to the comparison of the original OBSBOT Tiny PTZ (also 1/2.8") and the Tiny 2 in terms of image quality. There is definitely a lot more dynamic range. You'll likely need to bring the contrast and sharpness down a little bit from auto/defaults with the Tiny 2 to reduce noise. It's a little on the sharp and contrasty side in its default tune.
Great review. I have a specific use case in mind for this...Can this be used to take still photos with the software/app? If so, what is the image resolution/MP? Thanks
Yes, I just hooked this up to check with the camera app in Windows 11. It's showing 8.3MP with standard 4K resolution. Insta360 Link (also just tested) shows the same.
@@Murderball9 no worries. It made me curious, because I don't usually check that. The sensors are technically capable of more megapixels, but they are consistent with their video outputs. I wonder now if there are webcams that declare higher still photo resolution to Windows than their video resolutions.

If I sync the sound in the very beginning with a clap, footage from my Insta360 Link, and the .wav from my audio interface, both recorded in OBS, why after an hour of straight recording, is the video an entire second or more ahead of the sound (the lack of synchronization worsens the longer the recording)?
I really like this camera and its settings out of the box, yes. There are other considerations though, like do you need a gimbal? Does the gimbal need 2 or 3 axes? The OBSBOT has a wider field of view than the Insta360 Link, which I like, but I had to digitally zoom it in a little to match framing. So you'll see comments saying the focus is better on the Insta360, but they are actually comparable. I still prefer this one if you do need a gimbal and 2 axes are sufficient.
@@DeployJeremyThanks for your response Jeremy. Not sure what a gimbal is or why I would need one. I assume that this one rotates and tilts. What else could you need? And this automatically moves around doesn't it?
@@Martial-Mat it's the mechanism in the camera that tracks your movement to keep you in frame. Oooh I get it now@@DeployJeremy Thanks for clarifying this... I have been deciding between the two for zoom, webex and teams calls. I guess both are good options
For me boils down to three things and one I mistakenly left out of the video. 1. Default colors of the obsbot are more pleasing to my eye (this is all depending on your lighting and background), 2. The motion tracking and autofocus to me seems smoother and less jittery, 3. Insta360 Link has a 3-axis gimbal, so it's superior and can rotate on leveling and 90 degrees for vertical video
True. Those are tough decisions because you want to make a price statement that you feel better than the incumbent best 4k gimbal camera, but still stay within reach for buyers in that market. And beyond component and manufacturing costs, there are a ton of sunk R&D costs to recuperate for the hardware and software development. So it's not so easy to sell at a loss and hope volume gets you faster to profitability.
Fair observation. The Insta looks a bit more raw to begin with, but I tend to like the more contrast/sharp look, but that's subjective. I did need to zoom in a little for matching framing on the Tiny 2, so that digital zoom lost a little detail compared to the narrower FOV from the Insta360.
The OSBOT is terrible. If you do Zoom interviews - the resulting video and audio on the Zoom interviewer's end is WORSE than the native Facetime HD video and audio. I just sent the OSBOT back.
The iPhone camera is great, too. It's a little different comparison, because if you're using mobile app versus desktop, the clients for Zoom and Teams will often kick your resolution down to 1080p or even 720p for performance and bandwidth optimization.

@@deemster1670 that's exactly where I had to use digital zoom. Both are good cameras. Even the Logitech BRIO 4K has a tack sharp image if you don't need PTZ and want to save money. The Tiny 2 had a better image out of the box for me (without tuning), color was more balanced, movement smoother, and more software capabilities. Insta360 does have a third axis for its gimbal, image can be tuned, and narrower FOV might be your preference. But no, it doesn't come close to my Sony main camera.
I watched a lot of these comparison videos, and almost all of them say the Tiny 2 looks better, yet in every video the Insta360 Link clearly looks sharper, just by looking at the detail in the hair. i.e. - ruclips.net/video/GxcJ2P1lrXE/видео.htmlsi=V1omEXZSsfbbdQ8V&t=420
I zoomed in a little on the OBSBOT digitally, to match frames. If you only care about the image sharpness and everything else about the camera is secondary - like color balance, image composition, gimbal tracking, focus hunting, software controls etc. then it's a good camera. It also has a third axis on the gimbal and it's smaller. The focus hunting improved with the latest firmware update. The OBSBOT Tiny 2 to me still looks better out of the box and I digitally zoomed in because it has a wider field of view, so any minute difference you're seeing in hair or eye detail is likely that.
@@DeployJeremy thanks for the quick response. I agree about the other aspects of image quality especially on colour as shown on your black shirt. The insta360 auto focus and minimum focusing distance is excellent. Glad to hear obsbot have improved it since release. Whilst I knew the FOV was different I hadn't considered anyone had digitally zoomed in which was giving the insta360 link that "optical" zoom advantage. That's probably what I needed to hear to sway me towards the Tiny 2. The extra axis on insta360 is useful as they built in the software to level your image. I knew my image was off and assumed it was my monitor arm but it turns out my one desk leg was set 2cmm shorter... I had looked into the Obsbot tail air, whilst it's more expensive, it appears to mostly be about more features rather than better quality. Which is no bad thing, but no point in paying for features you won't use. I had also looked into a6000/Zv-e10, costs aside as I have lenses for Sony A7R4, the extra complexity to set it up likely isn't worth it if you aren't using the camera outside the office. Webcams are convenient.

@@DeployJeremy 6:18 don't you agree the difference is night and day, damn insta even challenges your main camera :D good video tho i wasnt sure which one to get now i know, definitely not the bot.
Ihave you on my ear piece, and at full volume, and it's a little low. Would you please set your audio a little higher, about 35%? Thank you, Jeff
Thanks for the flag. I used a light compressor and set audio up nearly 3 dB across the timeline on my latest one. Let me know if this is within the range: ruclips.net/video/KiA0c8kqCPA/видео.html
