Like any bike they can do it.. wouldn’t want to sit on them forever (just being boring going in a straight line) but being light and agile wont get tired
I tested a 698 last Saturday-absolutely awesome bike-I haven’t ridden the KTM, maybe I should get a ride on one of those. I erode down to the dealer on my 1993 Gilera Nordwest-the original factory supermoto, hugely fun bike-but you really notice the 30 years in between the two…… I just sold my last Ducati-a 450RT Desmo-maybe I should get another-or at 75 maybe not…….
It would interesting that You test the Ducati 698 with the suspension settings of the 698 RVE. The first should have a more "soft" setting from what I have seen.
I’ve already changed my 698 mono suspension to the sporty/track settings from the manual - which for an 80-85kg (like me) works out fine for road and track 👍🏻
@@hypermotardking Interesting. How much is the perceived change? I mean how much adjustment is allowed, a limited one since in some bikes that only a good rider can feel or a larger range that also mid level riders can feel?
@@donkeymarco Tiny in terms of adjustment - only 4 turns on the compression/rebound.. for men its more finding the spot where the suspension settles and isnt pogo’ing all the time..
I don’t think I could complain about either they both have there Strengths and very few weaknesses 😄 they both look like there loads of fun, I’ve never had a Supermoto so I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of fun! Thanks for the side by side comparison 👍😄
@@hypermotardking yeah the smallest Bike I have is an MT 09 , I pretty much feel the same way because I’m afraid if I give my big bikes to much going into corners I could end up in the Bush or down the side of a mountain 😆😄
No.. not in the everyday riding.. only when accelerating up-hill the KTM feels it just gets away better on the initial grab of throttle in whatever gear you’re in..
I don't understand why ducati fitted them cast wheels on a supermoto ? How you supposed to ride it like a hooligan and jump it over hump back bridges at 60-80mph plus lol, if it had spoked wheels I could be tempted but I know from experience cast wheels buckle even from a heavy landing from a wheelie or even hitting a golf ball sized stone in the road real easy (which I did many years ago on a very exspensive sports bike ) 😅
@hypermotardking I sat on the ducati 698 supermoto at my local dealer ,it felt tiny and super lite weight, the seat was rock hard, how the hell do you ride for more than a hour lol, it's too small for me but they had a 950 sp rv next to it and I really liked that but again the seat is like a plank 😅😅 not as comfy as my R22 desert x 😂 and I still prefer my old honda xr650r supermoto and my honda xr600r super moto for comfort and riding position over the ducati sm bike, but it looks very nice but it needs a graphics kit to stand out and be different 🤘
@@Rust_valley_adventures 698 seat is a little better but both bikes need an arse rest after about an hour - i wear padded cycling shorts under my leathers which also helps 😂
Great vid! Exactly what i’m looking for as i’m considering buying an sm. One question: how tall are you and Robbie? I haven’t gotten the chance to sit on one yet but I know these bikes are tall and unfortunately I am not 😂
I love both tho ill never have the coin for either, happy with my DRZ still 😎 If i had the choice id go the Ducati if it wasn't for the wheels. Why tf would they put them on a sumo???
nice comparison mate . so yours is stock and the ktm is only eshaust or also airfilter and flash ? i got open airfilter-eshaust-ecu flash on mine , brought me 15 nm in midrange and 9 horses from 3k rpm onwards , the euro 5 is killing bikes , highly recomended ! great vid , lets do a husky-duc on the ring or in that area soon !
From a purely spectator perspective, i want the Ducati to be the better of the two so badly (likely because of my bias to my own HM1100 EVO SP), and while it might be performance-wise, it doesn't have any good points for mounting engine protection! The huge appeal to me with the SMCR is the enduro potential with a wheel swap... The Ducati could have the same potential, but the lack of legit protection points makes me lean towards the SMCR if i were to go buy one today :(
Well it depends. Its going to be a lot of work trying to convert the smc-r to a enduro. Lots of bits that are not the same. Its going to cost ya. If you just want nobby tires on the street rims, its not going to perform as well on dirt. The Ducati is 100 % not made for the dirt. So if youre going for one id go for smc-r. But for the rode both are good maybe the ducati is a bit smoother and has more quality bits. Cheers !

Brakes were on par with each other. Abs and traction control on the 690. No more electronic gizmo’s needed. Quick shifter is good and not an extra like the duke. Most scumbags don’t bother hotwiring a bike. They either roll it away or stuff it in a van. No amount of electrics is gonna stop them taking it. The Mono is a good bike no doubt but as Kal said you can’t beat the raw edge of the 690. 😁
Have been riding KTM since 2015 (2012, 2016, 2021 smc r 690) until now. Ducati and it feels more premium every single way. Thats the overall feeling comparing those two. Both are fun bikes but there is no comparison which one wins in the end - D. And electronics well u dont need them until u need 😂 say people before abs, traction control etc. And there are different levels like russian versions and western, just give an idea. The KTM gives the impression it's a lot more crash-friendly, which is important to ride supermotos the way they're supposed to be: ultra hard.
There probably is more crash protection out there too should the inevitable happen..
