Can Short People Ride the 698? Seat Comparison on the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono!
Being a short arse myself and worried about the stock ride height of the 698 Mono, I did this comparison of the stock seat and the lowered seat you can buy from Ducati.
The lowered seat is £199 (Part No. 96580301AA), and in my opinion worth it for those of us who are vertically challenged.

@@daan7619 No.. thats the point of that servo delete - healtech plug prevents the light on dash.
@@hypermotardking thanks, thats all i needed to know.
I’m a short 5’7 and I’m handling the seat height on the 698 just fine. When I first started riding, I realized that all the best bikes have high seat heights. So every subsequent bike I’ve owned has had high seat heights. I’ve been one footing tall bike at stops for over a decade and wouldn’t have it any other way. If you’re at a stop more than you are riding, you’re doing it wrong.
@@AM-uk7jv hahaha… well put 👏👏

Every little bit counts for us short kings! ;)
@@MotoPapa88 Hahaha sure does
I also did the factory lowering kit a few weeks ago. So. Much. Better. Not only does it take some height off the bike without affecting the geometry making it more accessible for those of us that don't have NBA length inseams, but the bike actually handles better. The ride is firmed up a little without being punishing over bumps. It also significantly reduced front dive under heavy braking and all but eliminated the "wobbles" at higher interstate speeds. Frankly, if you order the bike, Ducati ought to allow you to spec it with the low seat and low suspension right from the factory, like BMW does.
@@deputydog95 Thats cool - didn’t know there was a kit available
@@hypermotardking It was announced probably 6 months ago, showed up on the website about 3 months ago, but wasn't finally available until about a month ago. The kit is reasonably priced and includes new front fork springs, new rear spring, and a shorter kickstand. The labor, sigh. It's not horrible but cost more than the kit. Which is why I go back to, if Ducati is building the bike for someone, let the customer pick the seat and suspension. BMW has been doing it for years. Considering Ducati is targeting this bike at younger consumers to get them more excited about motorcycles, I would do what I could to make the bike less intimidating both financially and from a riding perspective. I know I as a reasonably experienced but 30" inseam rider was a bit white knuckled at stoplights, tip toeing, when I first got the bike in its standard form. The stock seat height is bananas for a motorcycle that is primarily engineered for street use and in my opinion, doesn't need this much ground clearance or suspension travel. The low seat and low suspension combined make it perfect, for me anyway.
@@deputydog95 Yeah 100% agree.. how the kids guna afford this and ride it?
No adventures with the balls, safty first 😂, enjoy and have fun. Im 1,88m and stay with the stock seat😊

I also wonder what the comfort difference will be? The lowered one will have less padding is my assumption
@@Kevin97587 maybe.. but people wont be crusing/touring on the motorways for hours at an end to get any arse ache
I have both. The lowered seat is more comfortable. I just wish it looked as good as the regular seat with the red accents. The regular seat feels like a park bench in comparison. So the low seat is a win win.
@@deputydog95 agree.. i’ll be getting a custom cover for my seat
Nice. Think we need another comparison vid. Seat height and now mine has has the BHP magic lol. Also maybe that little rear tab is stuck on the original seat.
@@Robbiemoto Oh good call.. i’ll check 👍🏻👍🏻

@@kommandant.357 yep agree

always a tough one to have music over sections which i think might be boring to the audience - hit and miss i guess
Any chance on a link for the delete kit for us in the States? I can't find it on eBay
@@NirvashOne Search for “smart moto” and your bike and hopefully that should yield some results
Tour front suspension is either too soft, bcos every direction change you make there seems to be a rebound wobble. I am sure it felt very fast and terrifying and fun.😊
@@ballerblocks The suspension is setup a little softer because in the UK the tracks all have elevation and gradients - Assen is flat and i didnt really feel the wobble so much thru the bars to stiffen it up
@@hypermotardking I live in the UK as well, I did a trackday on my bike, I rode with a softish suspension at first, but as I gradually gained confidence or stupidity,🤣, I found that the reduction in rebound and a stiffer front end gained more lap time, but I felt I enjoyed it less that way, maybe because I am more used to green lane fast riding, with the bad bumpy roads.

Sell the bike. Skills shown here are that of a total beginner and people that chicken to make so easy turns can never learn how to drive unless countless of track hours are invested. I embrace driving above speed limits and in racey pace, but in this case it seems way too dangerous for you and people around you than the fun it brings back. Total lack of skill! Refrain!

@@twistychaser8973 still using it.. used it on all ducati’s 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. I’ve done this on my hypermotard 939 without removing the tank or air box. I beleive its doable on the 950 by just rerouting the tank vent tube under the bike which is the hard part since it will be tight do to the lack of space and extending it with a fuel connector and plugging the the Y tube with the screw provided and a zip tie.

Only when is hot it happens sometimes so bad , cold start is PERFECT….. do you guys think that I have that same problem with that canister??? Or anything will help… because I was taking my bike to my dealer because I still have warranty and they make full inspection change spark plugs update software everything , no computer errors nothing , bike working perfect ride perfect just sometimes bad hot start and that get me frustrated what should I do how to fix this shit???
