And so it begins! I’m in NJ, so you are always about 30ish days ahead of me with weather and applications. Watching your channel is like an early warning system that my lawn will need something soon. Looking forward to the ‘23 season on your channel.
Really nice video with great detail 👌 I just put down my very first app of prodiamin today. I'm using the GCI program in which it lists the app amount for TTTF to be .38 Oz. Per one thousand square feet. I have the same backpack sprayer and nozzle buddy nozzles that you are using. I have mine calibrated to one gallon per 1000 Sq. Ft. So, 4 gallon of product is covering 4,000 sq. ft. Thanks for sharing your passion and hobby!! Really look forward to seeing your journey again this year!! May God continue to bless you and your family in all that you do. 🙏
Mr Ferg. Nice video. That cup is specifically formulated for Quinclorac, based in prill size and weight. Ok to use like you said but its not going to be accurate for anything except quinclorac. Bring on spring!!!
Great job sir 👍.... My local feed and seed store told me to lay low on prodiamine right now since I just have a new yard installed back in the fall.... So maybe I'll spray prodiamine this fall. So for now I'm just going to wait for fertilizer.
As I was watching this video, I thought the dead leaf behind you was a crumb, so I tried blowing it off my screen… Anyways can’t wait to see your 2023 lawn! CT probably has at least another month before soil temps get close to 55🙄
Soil temps hit 55 for a day last week, but then dropped back (and I was traveling). 48 today, weather has been warm and will remain so for a few days. We are expecting 1/2" of rain tomorrow, and 1" the following day. Really tempted to spray today, but am concerned about too much "watering in". Thoughts?
Hi Mr Ferguson. It’s Feb 2023. I am a female homeowner in Greensboro trying to get my lawn looking good. I bought a Strom electric backpack sprayer from Pete’s website last year and used it maybe 4 times last fall. When I tried to use it yesterday to apply prodiamine, it just sputtered and wouldn’t start. The battery is fully charged. Thankfully I also bought a field king battery powered sprayer and used it instead. But paying $300 for a sprayer that won’t work is very disappointing. Apparently they need a new design. Hopefully I can get a replacement from them. What do you think?
Yea I had that happen to me too. Look up my Big Day video 2021 I believe. You can contact GCI turf and they be able to get you a replacement battery. They did for me and had great customer service. Sorry to hear about that issue. Hope it’s not so common as it sounds.
I have the same piece of equipment with the same issue that you are having. Double-check your nozzles and make sure they are not clogged that was my issue and it started working fine once I cleaned them.
After every use I will use tank cleaner ( can be bought at TSC and Rural King) and flush the system. I also do a double flush after my last use going into winter
A 4 gallon sprayer can never output 8 gallons in one tank. That's impossible. You are just putting out more product with the nozzles you have meaning you have to walk faster. You are actually putting your product down at a rate of 500sqft instead of 1000sqft. Maybe figure out a better way to explain it. And maybe you did in another video but this will be confusing to someone new to lawncare watching your channel. But overall thumbs up
@@MrFergusonLawn I got it but I'm not new to this. You make people new to lawn care feel comfortable which is a good thing. Just wanted to point out where someone new would get confused and not apply enough material or worst put too much trying to mimic what you are doing.
Your rates are wrong. TTTF requires 0. 36 - 0.83 dry ounces per 1000 sf. So for your 8,000 sf your max is 6.64 oz for your entire lawn per year. Your half rate should have been 3.32 in that entire 4 gallon back pack if you’re doing a split app. If you’re applying 4 times a year doing split app it would be 1.66 ever app.
I disagree. You should watch the previous video I did explaining why I use these rates and where I got them. I didn’t calculate them lol. They came from LCN post years back, and has worked just fine for multiple years.
Are you sure you're not looking at rates in LBS/ACRE? thelawncarenut.com/blogs/news/how-to-apply-a-split-application-with-prodiamine-wdg-pre-emergent-herbicide
@@MrFergusonLawn ok just watched. Your saying you want to use all your Prodiamine now your still wrong. Your annual limit is .83 so how you’re doing it is only half app in total for the year. The next page past the bar graph has by grass species that clearly says what I described. If the way you’re doing it is 2 month cover age followed by two month coverage. So your covering 4 month. If that’s your plan ok. Rock on if you only want coverage until June
@@timjackson5103 No…I’m not lol. The max rate is .83 oz PER 1k, PER YEAR. I just applied .183 oz a 1K sq ft sir. Then I’ll do this same app again….that’s a total of .366 oz per 1K sq ft. I still have another .4+ oz’s I can use in Fall if I want. The link I gave you explains this. I can also choose to use extra in my second app for even longer coverage. Yes, this first app is 2.5 month coverage. The next app can be more or the same. Thanks Tim.
What depth is soil temperature measured for the purpose of timing pre-emergent application?

Thanks Mark! Yes, rates can vary per user based on what they want to do. Coverage length that is. Thanks for sharing sir! God bless you!
What about for a new seeded lawn? PR/KBG/TTF

Ah good to know! Although, if someone has absolutely nothing else but that cup, I think they'd be fine. Good info though! Thanks Devin.
Can't believe the season is beginning. Time to get after it!
Yeeep. Coming fast for sure!

Mr Ferguson, what dial you have the sprayer for trim pass?

Really depends on location, but here in NC I feel like we have the green light on pre emergent and spraying.
@@MrFergusonLawn Middle TN here. I think I'm fine w/ the temp, was just concerned about all the rain expected.
Is now the time to apply fertilizer as well?
Not just yet. Not long from now, but we'll be doing that soon as well. I honestly don't want to start mowing just yet lol
@@MrFergusonLawn lol I hear ya!

Just north of Raleigh!
