Maybe you can help me out. I live in central Florida. It seems people have aliases for fish names that ended up in factual Data. Now it's next to impossible to identify the species of fish. Here's my dilemma. I purchased a cast net to get gizzard shad. My gizzard Shad are two to three pounds. People call the fish I got "stink fish". Cross reference that name it comes back as gizzard Shad, goldeyes Shad, Hickory Shad... Plus ten more names. All I really know is catfish are not eating them. That's odd to me as they are second best to skipjack aka 10 other names. We don't have skipjacks in my area that's only for North Florida not central. We do have gizzard Shad. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Like WTF I'm I fishing with? They look exactly like huge gizzard Shad plus 10 other names. Lol
Is there no limit on how many shad you can have? Here in Oklahoma, we can have no more than 200, and it has to be for personal use unless we have a commercial license.

Electronics more in the cold weather. When it's hot, the fish are much more predictable and easier to see.

We don't have a limit on shad here. I recommend moving a little further to the east. No shad limits in most southeastern states.
