I wanted one a little bigger than the smaller 20# and noticed yours was a little taller than the smaller one. And how many hours will it last on high? Thanks bud! Bart Taylor

    I invested in a good pair of neoprene gloves and bibb waterproof pants when I was catching bait in the winter. I fished Lake Lanier in Georgia and discovered that the shad as well as blueback herring schooled in the backs of creeks where the water was stained and shallower. I assume it had to do with the slightly higher temperature of the water there.

      The higher quality nets definitely open better. Something that helps a lot is to soak the net in a bucket of water with a few cups of fabric softener. I normally let mine soak for a couple days. It makes the net unbelievably soft and easier to handle. Thank you for watching and good luck👍

    I only have a cheaper down imaging unit that came with the boat. When I spot a "blob" of baitfish on the down image, how do I know where exactly to throw the net? I mean specifically, which side of the boat, front, back, where exactly should I throw the net?

    • @hagengrubbsfishing
      @hagengrubbsfishing  3 года назад +1

      If your transducer is mounted on your transom and you are in fairly shallow water, 5-20ft. when you see them on your down-imaging screen they are directly under the back of your boat or slightly behind it depending on the speed you are moving while scanning. What I do is spin the boat around with the trolling motor and throw where the back of the boat was previously. If it’s a small school it is very difficult, but if it’s a large school you will get them. Thanks for watching and good luck. 👍

    Can you recommend a good all around cast net for a beginner, I'm right handed and have a bad right shoulder so I'm figuring a smaller net would be easier for me but I don't know ?

      Fitec super spreader gs1000 is a good net and you can get some good deals on them at times. Thanks for watching

      That was a great video. The best I've seen on catching winter gizzard shad. I'm going to order a a 7ft with 5/8 mesh. 7 is the biggest allowed in tx. Then I'm going to lake tawokoni to go for giant winter time blues. I don't have proper sized catfish rod and reels, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse not to try. If they break my equipment, at least I'll have a good story
