  • Action from the closing stage of the fifth round of the 1976 British Rally Championship. Held at Antrim Castle, this short mile-long test was clearly designed for television, and appears to have been broadcast live on either BBC Northern Ireland or RTE (and possibly both).
Commentary comes from Alan 'Plum' Tyndall.
There are significant image glitches during this footage. For VHS Rallies' exclusive range of classic rallying t-shirts, hoodies and mugs, visit vhsrallies.teemill.com

I was at that stage with my father. We were standing at the bend when Per Inge Walfriddson missed the turn and nearly ploughed into us! But what a sound of that Chequered Flag Lancia Stratos as it screamed through the trees! The Castle Grounds was packed with people that year. Different to what it is now. It made for a tricky stage particularly at the end of a gruelling event.! after 60 stages! I was about 15 yrs then. I can remember it as if it was yesterday! Many thanks to VHS Rallies !

Amazing to see an Escort beating 2 genuine supercars.

Yeah, seems this is the reason, why we only can see seldom Porsches in more modern videos

Bodie and Doyle would be proud of all those RS2000's. Pity we didn't get a Capri 3000 V6 :) These were the days when the ordinary working man could just about get the same car as the rally version - at leat Group N showroom class.

I've never seen so much Porsche performance in the professional rally. Hence, I've never seen so much bad drifting. GM and Ford cars looks really great in drifting.
