  • This week’s Motorsport Ireland - RIAC classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is highlights from the 1981 Circuit of Ireland originally produced by Videoactive.
    1981 saw the golden anniversary of the Circuit of Ireland and the organisers laid on a marathon route for the star-studded entry list. Tony Pond made the early running but it was Jimmy McRae who eventually hit the front and stayed there in his Opel Ascona 400 to take his second win on the Easter classic, an event he was to dominate as the decade progressed. McRae was followed home by Ger Buckley and Russell Brookes who recovered after an off-road excursion.

    These videos are just awesome thank you very much for uploading these I love watching classic racing events and I love IRELAND, is it OK can you please put all the rally events and seasons all in order I'm watching from the oldest video from the 80s so the 1980 season is where I'm starting, itl just be easier if they wer all in playlist

    Ger Buckley & john Caplice in the HSR Chevette 2nd was there best finish on the Circuit. .they both were 6th in 1976 & 1977, 5th 1978, 4th 1979, 3rd 1980....all in Escorts RS1800's.@paddy Sullivan VHS 📼 videos 1990s

    A fantastic and authentical report but in the leader board, it is McRae, not McRea. ;)

    32 ad breaks in a 55 min film is too much. Great video though. Thanks for posting.
