Honestly Bee's design is just SO Viv it's fantastic, all of her little details must have been so difficult to animate; her wings, her honey hair/tail, her colour scheme is gorgeous and there was a lot of spinning (which is notoriously tricky). I've watched the song like 5 times now because I can't get over how great it is, mad mad shout out to the animators on this one!
I used to think characters like these were cringe, and while yeah, it's not my vibe i can't help but feel extremely impressed with how Viv nails down the culture and communities she's part with. You can tell that she's extremely into scene/emo culture and it translates so well into the show. I'm gonna admit that the design took me by surprise tho, i was expecting an anthropomorphic bee, but this design is just so fun and creative!
I personally think Queen Bee's design had was too many aspects and she just looks like a garbled mess of colours and features. Super long ears plus antenna at the end, weird looking long eyelashes, 4 arms, that weird stomach thing, wings and colours absolutely everywhere. Just too much for one character
This opinion might be a bit controversial, but I do think that this was a great time to release the episode. I say that because the show has been getting so much backlash, and this episode was just fun. It gets you away from all of the drama by just being exciting.
Fun fact: according to Sam Miller (the art director of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss), Bombproof (the horse Striker rides) was designed with a lava mane and lava belly to see if Queen Bee's hair and lava belly was possible to do, which means the animators were already preparing her for a while! Overall this episode was worth the wait and Cotton Candy immediately became one of my favorite songs! I also loved Kesha's songs and Cotton Candy (even tho not sung by her) still gives off that familiar vibe!

@@Ash_Lex completely valid to have that opinion, tho i was indifferent with both the original and the redesigns because i found them unique concepts for Beelzebub (there was even a redesign i loved greatly because it incorporate more of a bee-fly while still keeping some of Viv's concepts.
As an artist, I can confirm Queen Bee was VERY difficult to animate. She has a very detailed design (especially her moving bubbles in her hair.) And she was the most dynamic character in the episode. The animators did an amazing job ✨👏
she looks extremely difficult to animate, let alone draw. my sister went to school for animation, and after seeing what she went through, I can't even imagine what animating bee would have been like. I wish I had the talent to even draw something close to that. they did an amazing and beautiful job
Isn't her "lava lamp" stomach green screened in? If you look at 3:40 you can see her belly is green in the clean-up. Which makes a lot more sense, because animating that frame-by-frame along with the character would be a _bitch_ (no pun intended).

Animation really takes the beating out of you, for them being able to show so much for 20-35 minutes is amazing, everyone is so hardworking and talented to show so much details on this series.
it does. my sister lost interest in it after going to school for it because she had to meet deadlines for animations and stuff like that. obviously she learned a lot while there and uses the skills she learned in her current job, but I never imagined her being beaten out of animation completely. it just shows how difficult it is :(

Gotta hand it to Kesha for this song, it's fun, catchy, and matches Bee to a t, from having what you want (not what you need) to her party attitude, to her loud, electric energy. It's not often I love the entire song right from the first play. This was a slam dunk. Then again, I've always been a Kesha fan.

Did anyone notice when Blitz-O tells Luna "Fizz was right. I will die alone". He NEVER tells Blitz this at all in all of episode 7's runtime. However if you listen to "The Ring Leader" Fizz in that song tells Blitz "You'll still die alone" is the only time he tells blitz this in a fan creation that takes plaxe after the events of Ozzie's club incident. Did they make that song canon for Blitz telling Luna that is way out of context? Reposted this to see if anyone didn't notice

Imo the "Ring Leader" song makes sense because that fan song was created after episode 7 when Blitz drives off and before he heads back home. In character it makes ideal sense for Blitz to go back to the circus where his life changed for the worse.
I don't really understand why they didn't watch for same line thikness. Like with the bee lady they nailed the line, but in shots with loona the line is so fat compared to bee lady, but it's cleanup artist work, not animators. But everything else is perfect ❤❤
Something that i havent seen anyone mention, why is beelzebubs song based around cotton candy? How does that correlatewith the bee theme? I hope its explored in later episodes
cotton candy is empty, just sugar with flavor "what you want, not what you need" sums up gluttony pretty well, and cotton candy is super good and tasty, but doesn't really have any substance, not like cake or other sweets
I know that animation takes time and effort and she needs a team as a busy boss woman but at this point we are watching a show made by strangers imitating vivs style. Does she even animate anything herself anymore? I miss the squishy look of die young era. It's a shame that this is the only way to get quality stuff out but I hope one day she creates little miniature animated shorts again like in the past.

Her hair and torso are actually animated rigs. Not hand drawn frame by frame animation. Her torso literally have green screen behind the scenes. The animators can just take the rig, put it where they want it and change the direction it flows and colors.

This episode took so long to release not because of the animation but because of the legal issues between Kesha and her Management.

Its interesting to see that bee's belly is a greenscreen during the coloring process so they can easily add an already animated lava lamp animation
i can't imagine how hard it was to animate Bee's hair, tail and stomach... cuz that lava/honey is moving non-stop 💀

I love to think that when bee went into the honey her voice got super muffled so they were just basically listening to music for 6 seconds
