  • After purchasing a $272 part and investing 1.5 hours of my time, quickshifting seems to work again! If your 2017-2020 Tuono V4 is having similar hard double-cut and lag issues, try replacing your quickshifter sensor (Aprilia Part Number 2B002890).

    Good information! Your excitement with your Tuono played a large part in me buying a 2020 Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory, two months ago. I have owned many motorcycles and the Tuono is be far the best, even better to me than my Multistrada 1200 S.

      My pleasure! I try to be completely transparent about the ownership experience. On the whole, it's been amazing! Happy to put up with an issue here and there for the soul and feeling this bike provides.

      So it actually ended up being the shift shaft pin in the gearbox coming loose. It seemed like the sensor was it but not long after this the symptoms presented themselves again.

      Hey Chad, I’ve got the same issues your bike was exhibiting (maybe 60-70% as bad). My bike sounds JUST like your “Something Finally went Wrong” video 11 months back (with the fuel/ignition cutout during the shift… getting a double cutout sound). In this reply section you mention the shift pin being loose and just needing to be tightened up. In another post of yours I believe you said something about the shift drum being loose. Was it just the shift pin?

      Did you get your bike sorted? I’m having the same issue… and am about ready to remove the clutch cover and check the shift shaft pin that Chad mentioned. Just curious if you got your bike fixed and what the issue was.

    Hey Chad! It's great to hear you were able to correct the issue. My Tuono has been at the dealer since July for warranty repair, and it looks like if I'm lucky I'll get it back by the end of this month. I hope all is well!

      @@hiimchad Oh man. That's unfortunate--hope you find the remedy soon. No, my bike is still at the dealership, and it's going on 4 months! It's got an oil leak around the valve cover. I don't know why it's taking so long to get this corrected; seems like it should be an easy fix.

    The great American expanse never fails to amaze me. So much space, jesus. To get roads this straight, wide and empty one has to venture WAY WAY out of the city, at least 3 hours away, and find an expressway. And hope the cops aren't looking out for bikes. And the ride is boring AF 😂

    Did you have to reprogram the QS settings using PADS diagnostic software?

    • @hiimchad
      @hiimchad  Год назад +2

      Actually, this didn't end up fixing it after all 😅🙈 Issue reared its ugly head again on the next ride!
      It turns out the shift drum was loose inside the gearbox. I asked the dealer to look into the shifting issues when I dropped it off for the 12k service and that's what they found as the root cause! They tightened back up for me and now she shifts smoother than ever! Will be great to ride again once I get it back without the leaky valve cover 😂🥲

      how much did it cost you to fix it? i think i have the same issue on mine and i have this feeling where as when i shift my bike wont actually properly/smoothly get into the next gear. it also lurches when i shift from 1 to 2nd. most vids i watch of the tuono when people upshift you get these nice quickshift pops. but mine does it occasionally. are you familier with this issue chad?@@hiimchad

    Chad, ever had a cam cover leak with your Tuono? I have a 2021 with only 4k miles and it has started the dreaded spark plug vent hole weeping.

    • @hiimchad
      @hiimchad  Год назад

      Yup, mine started doing that a couple thousand miles ago, but it was small enough that I could manage it by sticking q-tips in the weep holes while servicing the chain to soak up the oil. Did that until it was time to go in for the 12k service when they should have replaced them. Haven't been able to ride the bike enough since then to find out if it's all good, though 🫠

    is your speedo in MPH or KM/H? cause that looks awfully fast for 60km/h but at the same time, why are you going 63MPH everywhere on what looks like suburban roads 😂 sincerely, a member of a country where speeding is WELL and truly over enforced with rediculous penalties and speed limits are stupid slow.

    • @hiimchad
      @hiimchad  Год назад +1

      It's all just a computer simulation! 😂
      Most of the roads in my area have a speed limit of 55, and I know my real bike's speedo reads a little high.

      @@hiimchad 55mph what a dream! we're limited to 50 - 70 KILOMETRES per hour on most of the roads here. and it is enforced to extremes. yet our road toll increases every year. Australian police suck!
