Persuasive speech ideas are the ones that make the listener think, preferably even beyond your speech. They are the ones that do at least one of the following three things: 1. Educate, 2. Inform or 3. Convince. If the topic that you’ve chosen doesn’t do any of these, then it isn’t worth speaking about in my opinion. Why you ask? Simple because it doesn’t add any value for the listener. For a speech to be persuasive, you need to make sure that you have a clear point of view and that it suits your audience and serves a purpose. Now, I understand that it’s hard to find persuasive speech ideas, but it’s not impossible. So, what can you really do to make sure your topic isn’t a boring one? Let me help you with that and make it easier for you.
The first thing that you need to do is Know your audience. One of the biggest mistakes that speakers tend to do is not take into account their audience while choosing a topic. A speech is given by the speaker, but it’s the audience, the listeners who have to listen to it. They’re the ones who are taking out time for you, so it’s essential that you know your listener demographic beforehand and values their time by choosing a relevant topic.
The next thing to keep in mind to make sure you have a persuasive speech topic is asking yourself “Does my speech topic answer a relevant question?” If the answer is a no or maybe, then it probably isn’t persuasive enough. People like to listen to speeches that are informative and answer some questions that they have. So, try to think of it as helping your audience solve some problems with your words.
One of the most important aspects of a persuasive speech topic is that it has clarity. You need to make sure that you are convinced of what you’re speaking before you give your speech. You also need to have ample knowledge and information on the topic that you’ve chosen. A persuasive speech topic is one that firstly convinces the audiences that you know what you’re talking about and then, convinces them to agree with you.
