- I didn't like this one.
Warner Bros. once again did not let me publish the video until I blurred certain parts out.
Fuck Warner Bros.
God bless this review. It's the first one I've made that has so many idiotic comments that I actually haven't read them all.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I've never been an Elvis fan, but after seeing this movie three times in the theater, I really became a fan. Now I have bought many old Elvis movies, books about his life, seen youtube videos, his music on spotify.. etc. Greetings from Finland😅
Exactly the same for me, except that I saw the movie on theater 5 times 🙂
Elvis is in my life since july. Books, films, and music ...
My children and friends think I'm nuts 🤣
Greetings from France 🤘
I absolutely love this!!!!!!! TCB
I feel the same way. Thank you.
May I suggest reading Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love by Peter Guralnick. Both are about 500 pages, but worth it. The author takes information from many different sources, so his life is not taken from one person’s viewpoint. Warning: it does delve into the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Agree
The movie was great. Love it.
Not me. It was trash.
Shit movie, stinks
I loved this movie. Austin Butler deserves an Oscar.
I loved the movie
He deserves jail time
Who deserves jail time???
That movie is pure trash.
Let's push this movie be Oscar right from the start
The movie was my impetus to actually read and learn about Elvis for real. I enjoyed the film but certainly recognized its many flaws, which is why I did my own research and I'm a much better Elvis fan for doing that.
If, on the other hand, you want to watch an incredibly sexy man portray another incredibly sexy man, historical accuracy be damned, then this movie is for you! 😂😂😂
love this 😂
@@86L-z9v Austin is a babe.

Ahhhh.... love it that you chose to go to the primary source. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Someone kept buggin me to see this movie.. I said "No. I like my Elvis as we all lived it. Thenkya vere muctch".
Not sure you saw the same film I did. Heh, it's all subjective but many of us thought it was superb.
@The Pleb. The film is not dog shit. You are wrong
It actually isnt subjective, the movie is shit and you have shit taste
There’s one in every crowd. I have been an Elvis fan since I was a little girl. Austin Bulter did a fantastic job playing Elvis and worked very hard at it.
A lot of people didn't like that movie.
So you like the film because the pre release marketing about austin butler studying super hard to be him convinced you that means the movie is good
And what happened to ‘Remember to keep comments respectful and to follow our Community Guidelines’?
I'm a HUGE Elvis fan and Austin Butler deserves an Oscar!! In my opinion, I think maybe you're just a wee bit jealous!
Of what? I didn't get turned down for the role for him.
@@theplebe6342 JEALOUS OF JUST ABOUT ANYTHING "CLASSY"
I'm a tìyoung teenager and after i seen this movie, which i found great, i started loving Elvis and searching if things were real in the movie and yes, as all the biopic movies, something changed, but i was positively surprised that notmuch changed and everything important was told right, so i don't get your opinoin, my bad
You are so wrong
Elvis used 2000 space odyssey to open his concerts
I can’t believe they left out that he had to be filmed from the waste up that is one of the most important bits of the Elvis story🤷🏽♂️
It's because his dong was enormous.
@@theplebe6342 wtff please shut up
@@itsalex008 I must of missed it when was that I’ve seen the film 8 times and I still haven’t seen that bit??
I’m a die hard fan and know things are off but it was good if you know the story already
A very different point of a view...i like it. Well, Life isn't Black & White. Elvis Life was outstanding as a Musician, Entertainer and most of all as a Human being! I'm a extreme ELVIS PRESLEY Fan since 1975 (on his Music-Legacy only)...man, your rude words are not mine, but you nailed it! Thank You 👍
Well we do have some common ground on the fact that we both think Elvis was THE MAN haha. Just hated this movie.
Get your head examined, movie was GREAT!
Most people enjoyed it, as long as the majority liked it is all that matters. Impossible to please everyone
Not everyone is asking to be pleased by film makers. No wonder Priss isn't shy about creating the Agent Elvis cartoon. 🙄🫣 Make it stop. Please....
Pricilla and Lisa approved the movie. Are you surprised.?
MONEY.
This seemed to be more about Tom Parker's relationship with Elvis than Elvis if anything
I'm a Elvis impersonator and I thought it was phenomenal, and Baz Lurhman has great movies like moulin rouge and The great Gatsby
I couldn’t agree with you more, I was there, I saw him on the Steve Allen show I remember so clearly, Elvis singing to the basset hound! My grandparents, my mother, My sister and I we’re watching something brand new in America. You have to remember in the early 50s was a total different world than of today. this broadcast, put Steve Allen number one in the ratings. The number on
The number one show at this time was Ed Sullivan, so fighting for ratings became the issue, CBS Ed Sullivan paid $50,000, which made Elvis the most paid entertainer in television history, and the first to sing The words, rock and roll in a song on national television! this giving birth to the king of rock ‘n’ roll!! so many things I’ve been said about Elvis Presley. and so many stories that people have no idea. Let me share a couple with you. there was a lady with no legs pushing herself on a board with wheels, on a sidewalk, passing by on the street was a limo, , And saw her. Elvis had his boys, find out where she lives, Elvis purchased the best, Electric wheelchair there was, took it to her personally, and with her husband present picked her up placed her in it, and gave her a kiss on the cheek, and said this is yours! oh, did I mention she was of color! When Elvis was 11 years old, he was eating an ice cream cone in front of his house, when one of his neighbors approached, and said I’ve never had an ice cream cone in my life! Elvis with a smile on his face, said here it’s yours, and more than shared it with him! Oh did I mention he was of color! Let me leave you with this when when we were in fifth and six grade the science teacher brought out a tape recorder and gave us all a chance to hear our voices, male female, And like most of us we replied, that’s what I sound like? Or I sound like that? That’s not what I really sound like is it? So when we hear an Elvis recording , A record and we play it over, and over again, because of the sound of his voice!!! then I ask you a question, what did Elvis hear??????
So I totally, without a doubt agree with you this movie did not do justice to the greatest entertainer of all times, when the blackboard is brought out, and the manager and coach, starts doing the plays drawing the exes and zeros with arrows if you go here and it’s gonna be this and that, nobody cares who the manager is . They only care who filled the stadium, and Elvis Presley pack more stadiums, than any entertainer in history!!!!
Who are you anyway?
Then your are no Elvis FAN
I’m an Elvis fan, and I agree with the review. I found the film painful to watch. Tom Hanks narration alone, with the fake accent, was offputting.
You didn't know that elvis started his concerts with the space odyssey theme ? That's all I need to know. You don't know what your talking about. The movie was great.
💯
I agree with a lot of the review, but FYI “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” the 2001: A Space Odyssey theme, was used to start out a lot of Elvis’ later concerts, so that reference did make perfect sense in the movie.
Dude, you really don’t know about cgi because the unchained melody scene was recreated with a fat suit and such. The real so stuff was done during the movie stuff. You don’t know your stuff that well. Can’t you tell that the angles are different in unchained melody.
It's a 3 hour rap music video starring the main attraction, Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks is horrible.
I think it’s up for eight academy awards, and was well received by the Presley family members….I think Lisa-Marie said she loved the movie.
But was it a good movie?
Most of the movie is just Suicide Squad edits and Elvis is a plot device instead of a character. I don't get the hype.
clearly, you are not fit to be a critic and clearly, you do not watch too many films.
You're fired you have no passport
Loved the movie. Saw it 10xs plus.
I'm so sorry.
We also didnt care for it. We felt that it was rushed, bounced around and yes. Lacked substance.... And I'm a big fan ... I understand that movies embellish things to make it more interesting.... But it was so bad. He was drafted ... Like everyone else... Not for wiggling his hips... No whole songs.... Just ugh. Crap shows....
Are you serious right now
As an avid Elvis fan (NOT obsessed) your review is spot on. I too was disappointed and not impressed with the movie. I posted my review on Letterboxd..and I also mentioned that Baz(who might have been on speed while filming this) ..uses a montage of flash scenes with little or no substance.
Thank you. The whole thing is a put-off, including his ex-wife's gushing promotion of it.
I finally watched this film and would have to agree that the soundtrack on top of the films, cinematography style (if I said that correctly) was total out of place BS. I mean seriously, trap and hip hop??? So much of Elvis’s life was left out in preference for all those stupid goofy hyper transitional scenes that left me feeling like I was on speed. Austin Butler’s performance was about the only thing I liked about the film.
No it isn’t it’s a really good movie it’s one of the best movies ever
L opinion
A) The trailers were off-putting... can't stand the Elvis portrayal, starting with his looks.
B) in later years Elvis shows used Space Odyssey theme for his grand entrance.
Thanks for your review, so now I know what I'm not to missing. Please tell me those banners were not in the movie. You added them for more cheesiness, right?
You don't know what you're talking about
Did you ever see Kurt Russell as Elvis from 1979? I still feel that’s the best portrayal by any actor.
No but I'd like to.
Elvis movie was the greatest movie of all time! Austin butler deserve an award oscar!
I can see where you're coming from I guess it was different I did like the film
I literally told the movie out loud to stop, and it didn’t listen to me. I couldn’t stand the constant scene styles as if the entire thing was just an intro or RUclips video about Elvis. You’re exact critique is my exact critique. I couldn’t finish it, it was like an annoying acid trio you just want to be done with. The acting good, story I couldn’t fallow because (because I couldn’t pinpoint anything) I don’t care for the modern music in period date movies before said time, Quentin T. Does this too and I don’t like it, I love his movies but the songs that don’t fit the time just take me out of the experience. I agree with your criticism 100%. I may attempt to finish the movie, I think I made it to about 1/3 of the run time. Every time I looked back at the movie, there was some scene going on like a spinning newspaper article flashing. There was no structure, it kept just tripping out. I literally told the movie to fucking stop out loud and was alone lol. Again, thank you for pointing these out. The same criticism I’d have given.
Do yourself a favor and don't finish watching it.
@@theplebe6342 I currently have it on in the background and it’s still all over the place. Remember the doors autobiography? Or even the Queen one, it had actual story boarding and didn’t feel like one music video with graphics of newspaper scenes lol
Don't finish it. It's trash
um you must be the only person on this planet that thought otherwise. The movie is not about Elvis. this was a perspective from managers eyes. Are you doing this to get viewers? you are entitled to your opinion but I see no purpose why you bothered.
I'm not doing this to get viewers. I spend hours of my life writing scripts, recording my voice, and editing, all to make a 16 minute video that I hope no one will watch.
That was Elvis's opening 2001 space Odyssey it's his idea he created it 100% Elvis Presley you should really do a little research before you talk about something
That director is horrible. All his movies are weird.
Are you finished?😂
I totally agree with you. A very bad movie that doesn't do Elvis justice at all. I especially agree with what you said about the music.
this movie is nothing short of incredible im a elvis die hard and very critical when it comes to movies about elvis and people playing elvis this movie blew me away in every way, the excitement , intensity, and sadness everything was incredible!!!
Many people Get emotional about Elvis death
It was great
You have to been on the doobies when you watched this this movie was phenomenal
Austin Butler won the Golden globe for best actor, and is up for an academy award for best actor. Other actors who have tried to portray Elvis we're just impersonating him.
Austin Butler put his heart and soul into Elvis, and became an essence of Elvis Presley even to his family, especially to Priscilla and Lisa Marie. He wants to win the Oscar in memory of Lisa Marie. I hope he does. As far as reviewing the whole movie I don't care. All I saw was Elvis in Austin Butler. You obviously don't have much of a heart, and maybe you should take off your critic hat occasionally and make sure your heart is still there.
Brenden Fraser should have won for The Whale.
There’s only the real thing that’s really true but I heard it was a pretty good movie I guess you need to see it ?
Fun fact that actually was Austin in a fat suit! It wasn’t cgi’d, there’s loads of bts pictures of Austin in full makeup!
Butler doesn't even look like Elvis, and doesn't sound like Elvis at all . I don't understand how Pracilla liked this movie, the movie is overrated.
What? It was good. 😂
PS do not hold back 😭
Wouldn't think of it.
Whats wrong with you? This movie is a masterpiece! Too bad you dont get it.
Yeah, that's the problem. I didn't get it.
@@theplebe6342 maybe someday. But to call something dogshit just because you dont get it is not the right way to go. TCB
@@TSOE-JustGoodMusic I was being sarcastic. There isn't anything in the film to "get." It's too shallow for that.
@@theplebe6342 Remember, your perception is not necessarily the truth. I hope you understand at least this one.
Omg literally look it up abt the lost performance 😭😭 he had to but makeup on like under his chin if u look at some bts scene. It’s not f*cking Austin’s face and elvis 😭 get a grip
10:30 Yeah but uh... His face wasn't CG'd on. That was actually him. Do your research please.
I loved every second of this movie!! Everything ,everything everthing!!! This review is a real downer!!!!! I really got tired of the "F"word, and the "S" word was really not need!!
Agree
As much as I am a fan of the movie AND the real Elvis, i have to say I really enjoyed this video. Made me laugh too .😭related to a lot of points you made. There were certain things I found in the movie to be not 100% genuine like you had said. There will only be one Elvis. No one can ever truly capture Elvis’s greatness entirely
Kurt Russell did an excellent portrayal of Elvis. Rick Peters did a great tongue in cheek portrayal in "Elvis Meets Nixon". (Bob Gundrun does a great Nixon). For more Elvis movie fun, try Joel Gilbert's "Elvis Found Alive".
Thank You, thank You very much.😂
This was made to get to the younger kids into elvis. Cash in . Cilla kept wishing him happy birthday .It was not his birthday it was about when he died
A good film would have also gotten the younger kids into Elvis.
They left out the parts about Elvis being into younger kids
Inloved the Elvis Movie!
The girl he broke up with actually was in the movie for more scenes.
You are so wrong& entitled to your bizarre opinion,we really don’t need your take!Your criticism is so unnessary&you can get your take without all that profanity!
35 min of the movie and i say NOPE ....Jesus wtf was that ....
I’ve been looking for this review 🤣 I’ve always liked some Elvis songs but in the last 6 months I’ve gotten into him in a big way but I had never seen the movie or any of his own movies, never saw a documentary nothing like that, I started watching Elvis last night, I still have a hour left and even with me not knowing a tonne about Elvis I can just tell how much this movie was a wasted opportunity. I wanted to see the “real” Elvis not the myth or the legend of Elvis. I’m not a fan of Baz as a director at all, never liked Moulin Rouge or got the hype for it at all. I hated all the fast editing and so many scenes felt with a fever dream with no real substance or realism. So bizarre that they went this route when they could of done so much more. Hated that they added in remix’s to his songs and added rap and stuff like I’m so baffled right now
It's like every time they could've made a right decision, Baz made a wrong one.
@@theplebe6342 absolutely it almost feels purposeful. I really think it could of been so much better had they picked a different director and you’re right it feels like Baz doesn’t even like Elvis 🤣
@@theplebe6342 this movie got so much hype too I’m just really confused
@@NikkieTwix It feels like it was made with contempt for Elvis, and it's unreal how lost that is on most people. Just take a look at the other comments on this video.
You are hysterically funny. Clever. Really enjoyed your review.
Thank you ..👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!
I know what’s dogshit
YOU WOULD!!!
While I enjoyed the movie, I like you felt it was missing something. The pacing did seem strange of how quickly he became this phenomenon. I would've liked it to slow down a bit and go through certain topics in a bit more detail. I personally loved Austin Butler and didn't particularly mind the editing but it did sometimes feel a bit out of place. As a whole, I liked the film, but I wish there had been more about certain topics. :)
And you must think that The Whale is a great movie!
It's a true story based on Peter Griffin's, The Family Guy😂😂
Elvis was the best movie in 2022, hell in the last ten yrs!🤘🤘
DUDE WHAT THE HEAK IM A BIG FAN OF ELVIS UR intiltled to your opinion but be nice about it
Austin Butler did a great job...that being said i thought it was done terribly. it felt like one long trailer mashup. im 62 years old and know probobaly more about Elvis than your average person.
i also despised the fact that it was narrated from the villans point of view ...The Colonel ...Tom Parker
"First move that is too long and too short at the same time" that is true :D !

the pleb says it all doesnt it
I felt as if your review you wanted to like it if it was good to be fair. I do love butler portrayal he tried really hard a plus for effort decent actor i do agree wirh what you said about him raising his voice or getting angry seemed off but was ok but loved he did his research for several years on elvis best he could.
I felt like it was a colonel tom Parker movie over an elvis movie. Maybe the 4 hour version would be better and maybe you have another opinion. Also I love Tom hanks but he was slightly miscasted. Didn't have other characters get too deep and became caricatures of themselves.
Would of also loved to see full songs and no other rap songs and I even had to look up the hound dog with the actual dog to see what they meant and they cut to end of him getting pissed off but not the actual performance itself. That is so true to on he never wrote any of his own songs and how he felt about it. I did binge on all of elvis music after the movie.
other funny stuff that elvis would pull over people and give them tickets. Him meeting other celebrities. Felt a bit rushed but I bet you speak of it more highly differently if they tied up loosed ends. Still enjoyed on what I liked and bought the movie to.
You're totally right. This movie is garbage!!
Thank you, Plebe. I thought I would get trashed!!
I agree 100%
Omg it’s like you said - we will all die soon…. So like what you like! Spot on!
No justice??? Did you see blonde….. it could have been a lot worse to ELVIS’ legacy.
Have you see the proposed new biopic of Priscilla???
Cmon…. This movie does no damage to the legacy….. in comparison to what could be!!!
Baz hates ELVIS???? Omg!!!! For real?? That’s Baz - he’s known for his movie soundtracks…. Maybe researching Baz would help with understanding of baz! Maybe that’s what you should title this…. I hate Baz lol 😆
It has giant flaws in a life story - yep!!!! But fuck - it’s beautiful at times!
Comic - do you get the reference??? Elvis was obsessed with comics and Captain marvel JR.
The affectionate term for ELVIS from his Mama is in reference to Jewish roots and is a term of endearment. Which I think as a massive ELVIS fan and ELVIS putting the Star of David on her stone… it’s a precious touch.
Completely agree with you on ELVIS for every season! That’s spot on!!!!
But yea we are all gonna die soon so am gonna love it and you do you ❤
The girl ELVIS breaks up with is Dixie and is in scenes before the break up…. At the concert and dinner table….
Steve Allen was a comedian…. This happened!
Little Richard scene never happened in real life. Mad that’s the bit you liked lol 😆 xxx
Excuse me - ELVIS as fat and gross!!!!! Wtf??? His heaviest was 18st - you need to go back to ELVIS history!!!! And stop believing the media crap.
Back in the 50s so many didn’t write music - do you hear from anyone about Fran Sinatra?? Tom Jones?? Massive stars that do not write there own material…. Yet ELVIS gets it in the neck constantly!!!!
Ok…. I gotta leave at that but the movie is from the colonels mind - so he never went to Germany, he had no idea about Priscilla, etc…. So from the colonels perspective it makes complete sense!!!!
Omg this review kind of offended me!!!!!! Lol 😝 I am not an idiot btw.

Haven't seen it yet.
I agree with this
It wasn't the first "Bio-pic" about Elvis. but your just too young and to know that. lol.. no offence, you should watch Kurt Russell's 1979 movie "Elvis". it was actually good. I think You'd like it. I like your take on Baz's Bullshit.
You're right. It wasn't the first biopic about Elvis. Good thing I said "first theatrical biopic" at 13:12 and that John Carpenter's Elvis movie from 1979 starring Kurt Russell was made for television.
Guess "your" just too old to remember that. No "offence."
@@theplebe6342 LOL... You won't admit it but you had no idea The first "Elvis" movie with Russell was even made. (Because you're too young) Use whatever modern film term you want. the fact is, that it was a bio pic. I was merely suggesting you check it out. Also, your little snide quotation of my spelling of offence / offense, AGAIN shows not your youth, but your lack of knowledge. Just as other words, there are multiple ways to spell the word, depending purely on preference. each with its own geographical and cultural origins. Just as Color / colour . Your reply also shows that You're a sensitive person. I hope the trait doesn't affect your relationship with the friends or family you're living with.

What are you smoking
How does the movie compare to Bohemian Rhapsody
Very good question. Bohemian Rhapsody was also very divisive, but I actually really enjoyed it. I understand people's problems with is (editing and that it seemed a little generic) but at least the movie had Queen's actual music and the Live Aid scene was incredible.
I'm also a MUCH bigger Queen fan than Elvis so I knew exactly how much that movie kept and how much it left out.
😮
ngl after hearing your opinion, you actually changed my mind about the film, you brought out good points and made me realise how dog water the movie was, and how Elvis did deserve so much better than that.

Honestly, you speak better English than like any of the other comments on this video.
