Fun fact: the girl with the hat really was knocked out by the hose. I watched an interview of the actress talking about that scene. I’m pretty sure she ruptured an eardrum from the full force of the water going in her ear. Safety regulations in filming really weren’t a thing back then. 🙂😁
Sissy Spacek (Carrie) and Piper Laurie (the mother) were both nominated for Oscars, which rarely happens for horror movies. Both would have been worthy choices to win.
This was sad and tragic story because you can tell Carrie was a good person with a good heart who really didn't want to kill anyone but she was pushed to the edge with her being bullied and picked on and she couldn't take it anymore and lashed out. I don't condone her behavior but I can understand where she's coming from.
I'm surprised no one mentioned that in the book she wasn't slim, but actually obese!!! Which none of the screenplays took into consideration with casting the Carrie character.
Sue meant no harm to Carrie, but went about things the wrong way. For some schools prom is the last thing before graduation. She may not have felt it was enough time to establish a friendship, especially if she would be leaving for college soon after. The teacher kicked Sue out of the Prom, because she thought she had gotten jealous. The pigs blood was a way of continuing the bullying and also a expression of selfish blame for Chris loosing her prom tickets. And if you didn’t catch it Billy is played by John Travolta.
@@SomethingCinema I’m late, but in Carrie The Musical sue does try to talk to and apologize to Carrie, but Carrie freaks out at her thinking she’s messing with her again. Sue tried her best but having exhausted all her options (and seeing Carrie mad for the first time) is when she asks Tommy to ask her to prom, saying one small act of kindness could change Carrie’s life for good. Wish the movies had those scenes cause it makes more sense than just jumping to sending tommy to prom with her.
Carrie has always had powers since she was a child, Carrie's Grandmother also had powers of pyrokinesis of course these are all in the book along with many other details and backstories. Carrie also doesn't just burn down the school, she burn down the town before heading home.
I honestly wish they showed the town destruction. In the book (and as shown in the 2002 movie), after Carrie leaves the school, she destroys her hometown on the way home, leaving a path of destruction in her wake. It was the best part of it all.
They had the budget to do that justice in both the 2002 TV movie version as well as the 2013 remake with Chloe Grace Moretz. All 3 versions of Carrie are worth seeing IMO. The Rage Carrie 2 wasn't that great though.
The fact that we don't know how she got her powers, its really cool. It adds to the mystery, I love when movies do that. As for the prom scene, I don't believe the people in the crowd was laughing (maybe that was just in the sequel idk) but I think it might have been in her head. Lol the music was dramatic but it's a nice touch for a 70's horror.
Yeah we think that was in her head too but her mom got to her because when that scene happened the 1st voice she heard was her mom saying they will laugh at you
Thats what happened she seen some of the kids. Laughing then she remembered what her mom said. Then she seen every one laughing at her. It was all in her head but unfortunately she had telekinetic powers. So well thinking every one is laughing at you plus her. Power to make them stop laughing at her. You know the rest an the result.
It's not that hard to make sense of if you think about it. She goes through a late puberty as indicated by her first period. Many changes happen with puberty as we all know: in Carrie's case, her Telekenesis developed to a point where she was aware of it.
The teacher kicked Sue out because she thought Sue was about to cause a scene when she ran towards the stage. I mean, she wasn't supposed to be there and Sue's boyfriend is prom king kissing on Carrie in front of everyone. Teach just thought ole girl was about to pop off and ruin Carrie's moment lol...
Creepy bit of foreshadowing that I only noticed after years of watching this: Carrie grabs Sue's same arm in the opening when begging for help. (Shudders) 😨
The teacher dying, it's not that the teacher did anything but when Carrie was in transe remember she saw people laughing and she imagined the teacher laughing as well(even though she did not). Carrie was just in a fit of crazy. I wished her cavalier, the blonde guy would not have died cause he had been such a gentleman for her. Maybe he could have fallen below the stage and get protected this way. Anyway, since this came from a Stephen King book, I'm thinking it must be a pretty interesting thing to read. I would also like to know what SK wanted to say about this story. It started with blood and the shame of it and ended with another shame by blood. You had the mother who tried to shame Carrie for being a woman basically, telling her she lived in sin. And Carrie's other enemy that other chick on the opposite side, she was a overly-sexual girl. She was probably threaten by Carrie's innocence.
In the books Carrie was able to read/ hear her classmates and the school staff thoughts (which were all insults) as they were laughing including the gym teacher (which one of the surviving characters confirmed was also laughing)
Plus in the book it's not just the school that gets destroyed..... (Spoiler alert) Her powers go out of control and wrecks destruction to the town/city killing many residents. Plus in the book it's not all from Carrie's pov but neighbors, residents, surviving classmates and staff, an adult Sue telling her story reports (newspaper type reports) so even in the prom and destruction it's not all from Carries POV
I felt bed for sue not only did she lose Tommy but she lost her unborn child. I felt bad for Carrie and a majority innocent victims of her trigger attack except for the bullies and the crazy mom of hers
@@SomethingCinema that was never gonna happen though. Carrie had been picked on since elementary school by those girls. Her mom really was the catalyst in everything.
Nah, them water hose ain't no joke. One of the actresses (the one in the baseball cap specifically) was put in the hospital for about a month because the pressure ruptured her ear drums.
Interesting thing was that Brian De Palma was actually friends with George Lucas and they were running auditions on several boys and girls for the main roles in "Carrie" and "Star Wars: A New Hope". That means William Katt (Tommy Ross) and Amy Irving (Sue Snell) would've been cast as Luke Skywalker and Princess Lea! :)
27:36 In the book Carrier pretty much destroyed the town by opening up all the fire hydrants and bursting the gas mains. Then to add insult to injury she sent a telepathic message to the everyone to let them know she did it.
Folks have to be mindful of how they treat others. Not everyone can handle bullying. Today kids deal with school shooters. Like Carrie, these kids are bullied to the point they snap and lose their sense of reality for right and wrong. They end up killing even the innocent people who weren’t mean to them.

Might not have been pigs blood, but a fire hose blast is a messed up way to go out. The force can literally kill you if you're not careful. Just watch the Jackass clip with the fire hose. Hell, it can take multiple men to control one.💯🤪
Hate to inform you but actor William Katt (Tommy who takes Carrie to the prom) really had that wildly curly blond hair. Now, aged 71, there's a lot less of it, and grey, and less curly.

In the Broadway musical, Betty Buckley who played the gym teacher in this film, played Margaret White on stage. She was phenomenal
I got picked on like that as a kid. I still get picked on. I am a naturally skinny female and get picked on terribly by people. People say I look like a skinny homeless dope fiend because I'm thin. I don't do drugs and I'm not homeless either. But I get accused of shit constantly. I feel bad for this poor girl. I love this movie. I cry when I watch this because I feel sorry for this girl.
The Stephen King book and both movies (1976 and yes the 2013 re remake) are both beautiful in my opinion. Cinderella gone horror 👑👀🩸 Thank you Something Cinema for reacting! Love this movie!
This is not your typical horror movie. It is a slow burn, but it pays off in the end. Sissy Spacek gave a great performance as the bullied teenager at school and at home. Even when she turns her powers on her antagonists and kills them in a fire, you still feel for her. She then doles out final retribution on her mother before dying. Overall, a very good addition to any Halloween film festival. Thanks.😄😄👍❤️ Hey, I've seen this movie countless times, you know that's the first time I noticed the cap on top of the hair dryer. Damn!
😂😂 The girls in that opening shower scene needed to trim up a little bit, LoL. I remember seeing this movie as a kid and being scared. As an adult, it's really just kinda weird and funny. Kids in school were a-holes but the kids and the momma in this movie kinda just got what they deserved. Lmao
This is probably 1 year too late to mention but if you hear when Carrie was screaming, you hear the 6 music tones 666 she used her telekinesis to destroy the house and her and her mother in it 😢😢
They all bullied Carrie to no end even the teachers bullied her but this was a masterpiece movie base on the Stephen King novel I love the stories told by the actors and actresses filming the movie there is a sequel to this but it's not really good.
@@SomethingCinema The sequel was average. I did like the 2013 remake though. They updated the story to deal with cyberbullying which is appropriate. The special effects are pretty damn good too.
Honestly, the movie does not make it justice to the story, I've always felt that Carrie would be better as a series, maybe 10 episodes or less. There's way more to this story.
Carrie oh my that movie scarred me for a little bit especially that porm scene and after the porm glad to see you guys uploading even if it isn't everyday
This movie is such a classic, the Remake with Chloe Grace-Moretz wasn’t as intense but I’ll say the deaths were a little more satisfying. Carrie 2: The Rage, is a cult classic to me and I enjoyed it but some people aren’t too fond of it. I’d love to see your reactions to these and then do like a comparison of the films?
This was based off Stephen King's first ever book. He based carry off of two girls that he knew from his childhood One of them wore baggy clothes in school The other one had a very serious Christian mother. He figured that out when the girl's mother asked him to move some furniture in her house for him and noticed a lot of crosses and pictures of Jesus typical Christian decor.
24:37 Because Chris believes that the world revolves around her and that she has the right to do whatever she wants because her father is a lawyer. She's a bully, plain and simple, no underlying issues, no insecurities, no trauma or need to feel powerful, she's just a bully because she's selfish, narcissistic and slightly psychotic - the book confirmed that she's received over 50 detentions throughout her four years in high school, at least 20 of which were for harassing other students and at least 30 of which she skipped, and in middle school she put a fire cracker in a girls shoe because the girl had a hairlip.
From a phycological point of view this girl only knows abuse and nothing else, people stood by and never helped her which is exactly what's happening in schools today the only difference is there are cellphones to record it
"I hate Carrie White" . . . she said it. Why? Do any kids ever have a good reason for bullying someone? They just get a kick out of teasing someone who is different and not capable of standing up for themselves. Sadly, it happens all the time to kids at school.
I watched this movie years ago when I was a kid, and this made me never want to be mean to anyone cause we really don't know what people are going through, and we never know how we can damage someone
The teacher had Carrie back for the whole movie but her mind was playing tricks on her when she got dumped by the pigs blood....she thought everyone was laughing including the teacher when in reality she wasn't laughing.
Y’all should watch the trilogy of “The Three Mothers” by the Italian master of horror- Dario Argento. 1.Suspiria (1977) 2. Inferno (1980) 3. Mother of Tears (2007) You won’t be disappointed☺️ it’s a masterpiece trilogy
So far I've seen alot of mitive!!! Love it! Saw this in 76 on silver screen, being bulliee in highschool..the prom scene started .I jumped up, screaming yeah!yeah, turning around to see whole audience with mouths dropped open ,horrified. Love King, u need to watch thinner& maximum overdrive 2..excellent soundtrack..I believe kings work is loosely based on truth!!
Also yeah, teachers were more physical back in the day. Even in the 90’s-2000’s it was a bit like that. I was a freshman in high school in 2007 and my principal still used the paddle on students. But I do live in Texas so we phase things out really slow so😅
Loved your guys discoveries and reactions. Loved the film when I was in high school. So there is a second film that’s kind of a sequel that’s called The Rage: Carrie 2 which was released in March of 1999, Amy Irving who played Sue in this one reprised her roll in the second film. The Rage is also base off a book by Stephen King, but was under the surname Richard Bachman. You should really check out and react to that one and then the 2013 remake with Chlöe Grace Moretz. As always loved watching your reactions and discussions you guys have after them film. ☺️🥰
The Rage movie has zero to do with Rage, the Bachman story fyi. Rage is about a school shooter. King was disturbed that "Rage" inspired real school shootings and let the story go out of print.
Chris and Sue are an item. Sue asked Chris to take Carrie to the prom. To apologize for how she treated her earlier, as she did not understand that Carrie had zero knowledge concerning a woman's body and the things it does. Edit: As for Tommy? It wasn't until the Teacher said something, did he realize how important this was to Carrie. I'm sure he discussed it with Sue and she said ok. For Tommy to give Carrie the entire Prom night. Including the kissing.
Ive seen a couple people request the fear street trilogy i would love to see your reaction to it, i just found your channel you guys are hilarious you got a new subscriber here
Heyyyy man missed u guys and yet again another great vid and I loved the reaction…… got another movie suggestion for ya “House on Haunted Hill” (1999) and “Thirteen Ghosts” (2001). Keep cranking out the great content

Carrie used her telekinesis to make her house cave in to commit suicide because there was no other way for her to go with her mother and her school mates and faculty minus Sue are dead.
@@SomethingCinema Getting a period or no period, prom or no prom and prank or no prank, Mrs. White wanted her daughter dead because Carrie was an accident from a lustful, sinful act. And how was Carrie supposed to go back to school? even if she moved to another town I'm sure her reputation will follow her. And how would be able to file a police report? "Officer I had to kill my mother w/ my telekinesis in self defense w/ seven knives stabbed in various directions because she was trying to kill me." BTW Mrs. White's dead body's pose was similar to the St. Sebastien statue in the closet where Carrie was forced to go in as punishment for "sinning" for getting her 1st period.
Chris filled the bucket 🪣 of pig blood 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸 and then tipped over and blood land on all over Carrie head and her dress 🥻 and she is looking crazy mad 😡 and she got revenge and next she going home and her psycho mom and she stabbed Carrie in the back with a knife 🔪 and then carrie use her telekinesis powers on her mom and sue is the survivor

Overall, a very good addition to any Halloween film festival. Thanks.😄😄👍❤️ Hey, I've seen this movie countless times, you know that's the first time I noticed the cap on top of the hair dryer. Damn!
😂😂😂... We are glad you enjoyed our reaction
The revenge scene reminds me of what Rambo told the sheriff in First Blood, don't push it I'll give you a war you won't believe.
🔥💯🔥
A fictional 16-year old girl from high school gained telekinesis and use it on those who are awful to her.
Ultimate revenge
"Not The Look! She hit you with The Look!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol!
Dewie is obviously the one that survived at the end of Scream.
Thanks for answering the question 💛💚💙❤
@@SomethingCinema always I love participating with you guys.
We love it too... we look forward to your answers all the time
We didn't need a backstory, thats one of the brilliant things of the film.
I agree
😂😂 The girls in that opening shower scene needed to trim up a little bit, LoL. I remember seeing this movie as a kid and being scared. As an adult, it's really just kinda weird and funny. Kids in school were a-holes but the kids and the momma in this movie kinda just got what they deserved. Lmao
Kids are so mean lol... and her mom was CRAAAZY... this whole movie you ask yourself was she in the wrong lol
@@SomethingCinema agreed! 😆
😂😂
This is probably 1 year too late to mention but if you hear when Carrie was screaming, you hear the 6 music tones 666 she used her telekinesis to destroy the house and her and her mother in it 😢😢
Oh hellllll nah lol
They all bullied Carrie to no end even the teachers bullied her but this was a masterpiece movie base on the Stephen King novel I love the stories told by the actors and actresses filming the movie there is a sequel to this but it's not really good.
That's what someone other people keep saying too
@@SomethingCinema It's not good, but the sequel is fun though.
We will check it out
@@SomethingCinema The sequel was average.
That's a good idea
One thing the movie didn't adapt from the book which some of the later Carrie movies did was Carrie wrecking a chunk of the town on the way home.
We just heard that... that would've been crazy to see
Carrie oh my that movie scarred me for a little bit especially that porm scene and after the porm glad to see you guys uploading even if it isn't everyday
We missed you all... it's has been too long
This movie is such a classic, the Remake with Chloe Grace-Moretz wasn’t as intense but I’ll say the deaths were a little more satisfying. Carrie 2: The Rage, is a cult classic to me and I enjoyed it but some people aren’t too fond of it. I’d love to see your reactions to these and then do like a comparison of the films?
We will check it out and do a comparison
It was perfect... now, there's either none or way too much
Just the car death scene was better but yeah the 2013 remake sucked... Even Carrie 2 : the Rage 1999 was a better movie than the remake
Good to know
This was based off Stephen King's first ever book. He based carry off of two girls that he knew from his childhood One of them wore baggy clothes in school The other one had a very serious Christian mother. He figured that out when the girl's mother asked him to move some furniture in her house for him and noticed a lot of crosses and pictures of Jesus typical Christian decor.
That's very interesting
Actually, it’s red food coloring and Karo syrup that they used to make the pigs but it’s not actual pigs blood
Good to know lol
24:37 Because Chris believes that the world revolves around her and that she has the right to do whatever she wants because her father is a lawyer. She's a bully, plain and simple, no underlying issues, no insecurities, no trauma or need to feel powerful, she's just a bully because she's selfish, narcissistic and slightly psychotic - the book confirmed that she's received over 50 detentions throughout her four years in high school, at least 20 of which were for harassing other students and at least 30 of which she skipped, and in middle school she put a fire cracker in a girls shoe because the girl had a hairlip.
Yea that’s not ok! Smh
I love that thought that we don't need anything explained or over explained to enjoy the movie or understand what's happening.
Yea. That’s true!
From a phycological point of view this girl only knows abuse and nothing else, people stood by and never helped her which is exactly what's happening in schools today the only difference is there are cellphones to record it
True... that's all she knows.. she doesn't know love really
@@SomethingCinema that's true
Very sad
"I hate Carrie White" . . . she said it. Why? Do any kids ever have a good reason for bullying someone? They just get a kick out of teasing someone who is different and not capable of standing up for themselves. Sadly, it happens all the time to kids at school.
It does and it's very sad
How do y'all not love Tommy's luscious mane??
😂😂
I watched this movie years ago when I was a kid, and this made me never want to be mean to anyone cause we really don't know what people are going through, and we never know how we can damage someone
That's the truth... we just have to treat everyone with respect
Favorite movie. She never just takes the crown with "Peace out, b*tches" and leaves.
Yeah she took that to a whole new lvl
This was the first Stephen king novel to be made into a theatrical movie in 1976
That's a great fun fact
Bruh did look like a golden retriever 😂😂😂Dallas hilarious for that one .. couldn’t look at him the same after that🤣
😂😂
Carrie 1976 classic horror movie
It is really good
45 YEARS OF CARRIE.
Nice job on your movie reaction.
Thanks for watching!
There is a sequel called The Rage, the actress who plays Sue is in it as well. There are also 2 remakes.
We will check them out
The teacher had Carrie back for the whole movie but her mind was playing tricks on her when she got dumped by the pigs blood....she thought everyone was laughing including the teacher when in reality she wasn't laughing.
Yeah her mind and what her mom said to hear was the only thing she could focus on
iconic
Yup!
You guys had me dyin laughing
😂😂 thanks for watching it with us
@@SomethingCinema and no problem :)
Y’all should watch the trilogy of “The Three Mothers” by the Italian master of horror- Dario Argento.
1.Suspiria (1977)
2. Inferno (1980)
3. Mother of Tears (2007)
You won’t be disappointed☺️ it’s a masterpiece trilogy
Ok! Putting it on the list!
Ty! The movies I recommended will give you nightmares🥰 but it’s beautiful
Oh no lol 🤯🤯
So far I've seen alot of mitive!!! Love it! Saw this in 76 on silver screen, being bulliee in highschool..the prom scene started .I jumped up, screaming yeah!yeah, turning around to see whole audience with mouths dropped open ,horrified. Love King, u need to watch thinner& maximum overdrive 2..excellent soundtrack..I believe kings work is loosely based on truth!!
Being bullied!!! My10thous angels underline this.. feel not pity 4 bullys or racist ,taught at home
It sure is... we will add your movie to the list
Carrie wasn’t playing in the last part lol…
At all lol
Also yeah, teachers were more physical back in the day. Even in the 90’s-2000’s it was a bit like that. I was a freshman in high school in 2007 and my principal still used the paddle on students. But I do live in Texas so we phase things out really slow so😅
😂😂 Texas ain't no joke
Loved your guys discoveries and reactions. Loved the film when I was in high school. So there is a second film that’s kind of a sequel that’s called The Rage: Carrie 2 which was released in March of 1999, Amy Irving who played Sue in this one reprised her roll in the second film. The Rage is also base off a book by Stephen King, but was under the surname Richard Bachman. You should really check out and react to that one and then the 2013 remake with Chlöe Grace Moretz. As always loved watching your reactions and discussions you guys have after them film. ☺️🥰
Yes we will check it out
The Rage movie has zero to do with Rage, the Bachman story fyi. Rage is about a school shooter. King was disturbed that "Rage" inspired real school shootings and let the story go out of print.
Mmmm ok
Chris and Sue are an item.
Sue asked Chris to take Carrie to the prom. To apologize for how she treated her earlier, as she did not understand that Carrie had zero knowledge concerning a woman's body and the things it does.
Edit:
As for Tommy? It wasn't until the Teacher said something, did he realize how important this was to Carrie.
I'm sure he discussed it with Sue and she said ok. For Tommy to give Carrie the entire Prom night. Including the kissing.
That's too open of a relationship lol
No sequel but they do have several versions of this movie and they have a Carrie remake. But the best one to watch is called " the rage Carrie"
Yeah we will check it out
Ive seen a couple people request the fear street trilogy i would love to see your reaction to it, i just found your channel you guys are hilarious you got a new subscriber here

Heyyyy man missed u guys and yet again another great vid and I loved the reaction…… got another movie suggestion for ya “House on Haunted Hill” (1999) and “Thirteen Ghosts” (2001). Keep cranking out the great content
Thank you... we are glad you enjoy it!! And we will add it to the list
Yeah, two of my favorites
Wow, thanks for this guys. This is one of my favourite horror movies ! xx
Nice!!!
This ending and baby Jason coming out of the water at end of original Friday imo best early horror movie endings
Caught us way off guard lol
I looked up how much $10 was worth in 1976, & this is hard for me to believe, but it’s about $48.
Yeah... it was a different time back then
Hi. Betty Buckley (Miss Collins) sang the song Memory in the original Broadway production of Cats. It’s on YT. She’s got an amazing voice.
That's really cool... great fun fact
If u ever seen grease John Travolta and the women under the blow-dryer was both in that movie. The chick in the red baseball cap was also in the original Halloween from 1978
👍🏽
I love this movie and I loved this video of you guys watching it and talking about it. I love everything you said after the movie. I laughed so much, like when you pointed out how touchy the teacher was. I love your channel, and I'm psyched you did this movie!
We are glad you enjoyed it!!
You guys are dope! Love that you're checking out the classics. Subscribing!
Thank you for watching it with us!! and thanks for the sub
classic movie. y'all should also check out Carrie 2: The Rage and the 2013 remake of this movie as well.
Such a classic movie
@@SomethingCinema and thanks for the shout out. yes you said my name correctly
Great!! Thanks for the support!!
Carrie used her telekinesis to make her house cave in to commit suicide because there was no other way for her to go with her mother and her school mates and faculty minus Sue are dead.
That's crazy
@@SomethingCinema Getting a period or no period, prom or no prom and prank or no prank, Mrs. White wanted her daughter dead because Carrie was an accident from a lustful, sinful act.
And how was Carrie supposed to go back to school? even if she moved to another town I'm sure her reputation will follow her.
And how would be able to file a police report? "Officer I had to kill my mother w/ my telekinesis in self defense w/ seven knives stabbed in various directions because she was trying to kill me."
BTW Mrs. White's dead body's pose was similar to the St. Sebastien statue in the closet where Carrie was forced to go in as punishment for "sinning" for getting her 1st period.
Her mom was crazy and took her wrong out on her daughter... that's wild
Can't wait to see the three of you reacting to the 1999 sequel 'The Rage: Carrie 2' released 22 years after the original.
Are they good??
Noo, I saw that in theater, It's a waste of time, I repeat, a waste of time
@@SomethingCinema Not at all but the 2013 reboot of Carrie is worth checking out.
We might check it out
Hate the 2013 remake, but I have a soft spot for The Rage. Would love to see them check it out.
🔥🔥
The ending of this movie freaked me out, still does to this day. Oof D:
It's a classic
There's definitely a sequel. "The Rage: Carrie 2". Sue makes a return as an adult played by the same actress.
We heard it was good
@@SomethingCinema I really liked it!
