  • The things we do for you! We've been out in a gale today to film big storm waves crashing at Cleveleys near Blackpool. This is Storm Ellen blowing through the UK on 21 August 2020. Note that this has all been filmed from very safe places! We have good local knowledge of where to catch the big waves where it's safe and protected to do so. DO NOT GO NEAR THE WAVES to watch/take photos. It WILL pull you in and you WILL drown.
Take a look at Rossall Beach where big storm waves crashing against the pebbles make froth and some overtopping. There's waves crashing along all the Fylde Coast today. High tide is 9.8m today, with a really strong south westerly wind behind it. Had it been a westerly wind it would have been overtopping the seawall even more. As it is there are some mighty big waves at Cleveleys today!
Cleveleys near Blackpool is a good spot to watch the waves. See how they come roaring up to the sea defences - the design of them saps the energy and prevents flooding.
🎬 WATCH the same beach when the foam is blowing! The sound is awful but the images are good! • Foamy Walk Along Rossa...

It's the sand that makes it look dirty. Did you see this one when it was beautifully clear? You wouldn't believe it was the same place - ruclips.net/video/ogKT4FpZjXo/видео.html

I don't understand why the sea wall is so low, apart from enabling people to get a free carwash. Thank you for braving the elements, what's next, fire walking?

Lol, it's the old one, built in the 1940s - read about it here - www.visitcleveleys.co.uk/about/history/sea-wall-build-1947/ It's the beach that's the sea defence here. It does an amazing job - it's the best sea defence that you can get. I'll pass on fire walking, thanks 😉

Bet it was spectacular there too! Good local knowledge of safe spots, plus a bit of zoom-in on the camera makes for great photos taken in a very safe way.
