My Honda eu2000 is about 5 years old. It's only been used a couple of times. It sat in the garage for a couple of years with the same fuel in the tank, 87 octane ethanol fuel. I just got it out today and tried to crank it and it would not crank. I found your video and did everything you suggested here. I did see a tiny amount of sticky black substance on the tip of the wire as i pushed it through each hole in the jet, but after doing that mine still would not start. My next step was to remove the old fuel from the tank and add fresh fuel. After doing that, it fired right up! Your video was great and I REALLY appreciate it. I only posted this in case someone else tries cleaning the jet and still has an issue. I'm guessing you don't want to leave fuel in the tank for much more than a year. Thank you!
We Just got hit with a Huricane in New Jersey, and you video saved my In-Laws $400 worth of food. They lost power and are 5 minutes away and their expensive generator's fule valve cracked. So I pulled out my Honda and of-course my would not start. Found your video follwed your instruction and she is back up and runnning!! I drove it to my in-laws and now they are running on the Honda EU2000i! Thank you so so much!
@ this guy's garage - Thank You for the instruction and video. The jet in my eu2000i was indeed clogged from sitting around unused and wouldn't start. After clearing the jet with the tie, it started up on the first pull! Glad that I came across your posting. Thanks again.
Bad camera angles but very helpful slides and part explanation's. Literally he wasn't lying, mine started in one pull after this trick. All i did was clean that fuel jet hole that was plugged with a piece of dental floss and some fine rope (didn't have a garbage tie). GREAT VIDEO!
Did the job first shot! Thanks a ton! I did find my injector wouldn't come out, but with a good dose of brake cleaner and running the wire through it still in the carb, it cleared the problem and is running again.
Good tips Caper and very informative on how to clean out your carb on that Honda generator. I have a 7500W Champion Dual Fuel Generator which runs on propane not gasoline so I've never had a problem starting it. I do test it every month to make sure it runs and is putting out the proper volts and amps. I only use propane because it's inexpensive, easy to have refilled during a large power outage and stores safely and won't degrade over time like gasoline does. I also have a Cub Cadet push mower which I use 87 octane unleaded in however, every time I refill my 5 gallon cans, I always add 2 oz of StaBil and 2 oz of HEET and never had a problem restarting them in the Spring after storing it with a full tank throughout the cold Winters here. I always have at least two 5 gallon cans of 87 octane on hand at all times since I use my tractor for blowing snow and my four wheeler for plowing. I also store 2-40lb tanks and 4-20lb tanks of propane for various applications. Thanks for sharing and cheers to you my friend!
I know I said I wouldn't bother you again but it's another kudo. In addition to my generator not starting I had a practically new pressure washer with the same "no starting" issue. Going on what you showed me here I was able to fix that pressure washer in, no kidding, five minutes. Between the two gas powered engines I saved myself a probably healthy repair cost by fixing it myself. Ok, last time. Honest. Thanks!
This all is kind of intimidating for single women but after watching this video a couple times, and also learning some excellent tips, I might be able to do this myself. :)
You can do it! i redid this video ,its pretyy much the same video with better lighting and camera angels ruclips.net/video/_Cnc3m4FGMc/видео.html let me know if you run into problems i will do my best to help you out.
EXCELLENT tutorial, Caper! I run 89 octane in mine, but the fuel is ethanol free. Ethanol fuel in a generator. 😝 Is 4iamcaper spelled correctly on your marker board? And, yes, ALWAYS check your generator prior to when you'll need it. Also good to check every 4-6 months regardless. Thanks and God bless! 😁
Very good video. Mine won't start so I drained the tank, drained the fuel bowl, cleaned and regapped the plug, changed the oil and primed the cylinder. Ran two seconds with the fuel in the cylinder and stopped. So I guess what you did is the next step. Was really trying to avoid pulling the carb but I guess what can I lose? I realize you know what you're doing and I really don't but you made it look so simple I think I'll give it a whirl.
Well, I did everything you demonstrated including the stripped down twist tie. The main jet didn't fall out the way it did for you so I had to reach into the venturi with a flat blade screwdriver and force it down. It was definitely dirty. When I reassembled it still wouldn't start. Primed the cylinder again hoping that might kick it off but it did its usual short few second run and died again. Guess I'll need to let a pro look at it but it was sure worth a shot. I was so sure this would do it. Thanks again.
@@thisguysgarage Thanks for the quick response. Was going to wait till morning to do this but then thought that's a quick try. No luck. Maybe I should go back and do the whole thing over again. Thought I got it pretty clean but maybe not. And to think my late father was a mechanic....shame on me. Possible the fuel pump still had old gas in it?
@@rickt7826 absolutely. You can do it 👍 If was really dirty go through it again. Oil the cylinder. New plug wouldn't hurt if it flooded. Keep pulling till it starts sounds like you are close.

The garage tie works great 👍for the jet.

@@rickt7826 put some motor oil in the cylinders a few drops will do. Get the compression up and give it another go. 👍 let me know

Good video caper
A little stayBil turn on the vent on the top of the gas tank.
Run for 10 minutes. Turn off fuel run till it dies.
Repair with a Twist tie huh nice
Good fix
Another video on cleaning showed crud buildup in the bowl but you didn't mention it, possibly because it was new.
Exactly right. In this case the jet was plugged. Thanks for taking the time 🤜🤛
THANK YOU...
Thank you for taking the time
God bless

A year-old and brand new how does that work?

Fuel, spark, air, compression.

Honda generators have nothing, what's the problem with them
are you asking a question, sorry I'm not sure what you mean 🤔,
No! Packing a coil
Way to check his spull
