Emma Watson has been criticized for being so out there. Actually she's dialed it back being so out there. It has to be hard to go from no-one to being someone, and then trying just to have a life.

Stages of life, even Emma has one. She is a human being like the rest of us.
That's the problem today, people are too human, and evil.
Taking a step back is better than burning out, besides apparently she's back at university doing her masters at the moment which good on her!
It's important to enjoy life. So many people don't and continue doing what they are doing regardless of the impact on their mental and physical health. Emma is providing a great example of how self care should take priority and getting back to basics is definitely a great grounding technique. Thank you, Emma, for being such an amazing role model in life and in art.

No, it's not easy for most people but it might be a necessity. Look at how many people have already "dropped out" of modern life because they don't like the costs, both personal and global. I believe the phenomenon is called the great "attrition". If business would learn how to value people, to value life, over profit, it would make it easier. But greed is something that destroys life as well as artistry. We have the evidence of that around the globe. Walking away may be the hardest yet most powerful thing we can ever do for ourselves. Good for you Emma I think when you done something for so long you begin to think wow I been doing this a long time. I need a change it take a mature humble person to say this and Emma you are humble. One got to be brave when we make these changes. I recently made a huge change in my career as I came to a point where I thought I given all I can give I can’t give anymore than I have already. I was a bit scared to make the change in my career but it was the best decision I made at first hard for me but now I am beginning to settle into my new job role and it been a great experience I learnt so much about my chacter and me as a person.
I had trouble suspending disbelief in most of her adult roles. It was just Emma Watson being Emma Watson and trying to act like someone else. It just didn't work.

honestly, she was incredibly typed casted and wasn't getting great roles. she was surpassed by younger actresses incredibly fast.

Emma Watson has never felt comfortable being an actor. It was always visible. This is not a temporary break, this is permanent. She's going to have to find something that makes her happy, and it certainly isn't acting.
She would make a lot of money roleplaying as Hermoine, though she would have to share the spoils with her "mentor".
The fact is that she’s not sufficiently talented at acting to be as famous as she is. And yet, she is intelligent enough to make an impact. Having a voice that does not hide behind a character is where I see her thriving. Her best performance to date was the UN speech.
The way this was presented was is if she has been working nonstop, but I just looked at her filmography and she’s barely done anything. Either way, as long as she’s happy nothing else matters.
She made $80 million off Harry Potter movies and probably still collects residuals from the movies, video games, Amusement Park and HP merchandise. Plus she has endorsements with Lancome, Burberry, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein. She doesn't have to work.
She is an intelligent, independent young lady.

Idk the "stepping away" seems mutual. Her post Potter movies underperformed and in the ones that did well, she had a small supporting role. And that's fine because she's earned her "F U money" doing all those Potter movies and can afford to chill out for the rest of her life.
You've got to be kidding? 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Little Women' were extremely successful, and Emma played a leading role in 2 of them. Her role in Little Women wasn't exactly small either.
But she's been in the movie industry since childhood and perhaps, it is not a career that she would have chosen for herself as an adult. She was good in Harry Potter and Beauty and the Beast but I totally see how it may feel like a dead end for her.
Fortunately for Emma Watson, she is still young and with her intelligence and (well earned) wealth can afford to change a career path and become whatever she wants.
If Emma's happy, I'm happy! Too bad, tough! I would love to see Emma work with other actors that she hasn't yet. But, Emma like everyone else deserves a break. Emma, just keep doing what you are doing. You're awesome!

Subpar actress that was lucky enough to land a role when she was a little girl, and one that allowed her to make enough money to live more than comfortably the rest of her life. The movies she's been in since then prove she's not a very good actress.

She is wise after all. Hardly an actor experiences this level of success and popularity in life for the second time. And let's be honest: what kind of script would do justice to her talent? She is sensible and intelligent enough to avoid a public career where she would be pushed into certain speeches; she have more money than she can spend in a lifetime and are living the best life, with prosperity and freedom. Emma was part of an extraordinary team, in an extraordinary series and now, she can live whatever she wants, whenever and wherever she wants.

There is a huge difference between actors that are sought out and actors that are actively seeking auditions. Emma probably never felt that struggle like some actors do.

I kind of feel like, the real Harry Potter characters had a big impact on their real personalities. And they just don’t want the fame as much as before. If you see the movie characters and the book characters, their personalities are really different, in a lot of ways and that was explained by the cast themselves. As they said they could feel the characters as their own, so they changed a lot of stuff. You see that happen with the three of the Harry Potter stars. Actually most of them.
I have had debates with people about her acting abilities. I think she is brilliant. I also think she is very beautiful in a "girl next door" kind of way. So I admire her.
