Thanks you. I have the TC WE835S which is slightly different which I was able to do. However, I had a tiny gear wheel that fell out. which goes right next the the big black rollers and you video helped me figure out how to pop that back. The Rubber was so badly melted and it must have cause that gear to hop off. I don't know how to do a video blog and it not not easy to do the work and share with with others. Much Appreciated ! I too love this tape deck with the dual VU meters. No one makes them anymore.

Great job! If I remember, dual decks weren't always hot sellers, it's great to see a nice one still out in the wild. Another piece of audio equipment history saved to live again.

I have a Pioneer very similar to this deck, and the left hand head is out of alignment and I wonder what the proper procedure is to align it and then fix it in place. It is a CT-W703RS. I got this for a good price and it had some issues when I got it, but just playing it over and over got it working properly(kept shutting off etc, turns out old oil etc was causing issues so needs cleaning and relubing). I was looking for a dolby "S" deck and this came into my sites....
The recorded version of the Jane's Addiction song was just a wee bit flat compared to the source....

Hello. I have the same tape deck. Can I ask for a more detailed explanation on your video at 24:30?
I need to adjust the rotation speed according to the 3150kHz signal..
Am I understanding correctly that the correct location is R71 on the drive board?
Can you please explain more precisely what is there? Screw or trimmer?
And what is the tip of the screwdriver? It's hard to tell on your blue one at that speed.
    Great video....thanks

Roman, thanks for checking out the video! R71 is for adjusting the normal playback speed, R72 is for adjusting the (2X) highspeed for tape dubbing, I dont recall if I filmed the highspeed adjustment when I made the video but to that you will need to put the unit in test mode, for that you can download the service mnual at hifiengine. The tool I was using is a plastic adjustment tool that I filed into a tiny flatblade, you can use a small metal screwdriver also. To do the speed alignment you will need an alignment tape running 1000 or 3000Hz fed into a frequency counter for precise adjustment.

      @@luvradios Thanks for the reply.
I have the setup cassette...and I know how to do it.
I didn't know where the setting is for this particular type.
Every deck has it somewhere else, and it's always well hidden...and hard to access...🤔

BEHIND THE TO BLACK METAL WEELS YOU SEE THE WHITE PLASIC WEEL. YOU DON'T CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE BLACK WEELS. BUT I HAD TO REMOVE VERRY OLD BELTS. SO I HAD TO CLEAN THE WHOLE WEELSITES. AND EVEN THE MOTOR ASS. BUT NEW MY DECK IS DOING STANGE THINGS. HOW DO YOU HAVE TO GET THE WHITE WEEL ?

Heyo! I have an issue with mine where the heads don’t even engage.
The left side makes noise (if you use FF/RW it makes it but faster) and won’t engage the heads, while the right side makes no sound but doesn’t engage the heads at all. I’m thinking it’s either a belt or a broken gear. I can provide videos if you wish.

@@xxEzraBxxx absolutely sounds like a belt issue.

I have a TC-We835S that just started acting erratically. Fussing with it can sometimes make either side work, but usually not. Belts are intact and move freely. Any idea?

You might want to clean the leaf switches across the top of the mechanism, these are responsible for detecting what type of tape you’re using, the record tab and most importantly that a cassette is present in the deck, this one can cause “intermittent” operation so definitely a good place to start.

@@luvradios I bought the deck new back in the day to convert some of my bands files to digital. So it does sit around a lot w/o use. Right now, both decks won't eject, or do much of anything, right one has a light squeal. My guess is lack of lubrication, I'll check those leaf switches (if I can find them) the next time I can get the tapes out. I bought it when Cassette decks were long on the way out, I didn't like the fancy features, figured it would give me trouble someday. Thanks.
