This old Realistic still looks in good shape as if it's just came out of the factory. Obviously been well looked after, and it's sound quality still sounds good. Realistic were good competitors in their days they were up there with the best, glad to see it getting a new lease of life for many more years to come. Bravo!
It's been a good week. Just picked up a QTA- 770 and this STA-225 and I'm very impressed with this line of receivers. Am/Fm tuners are both excellent and it has a nice warm sound, probably putting out about 60 watts per channel. Plenty of power, reminds me of a Sansui at half the price. Don't hesitate to get one of these if you have a chance. Thanks for the review. Convinced me to find one.
I was cleaning mine and when I put it back together the dial needle lights the auto magic and tuning lights quit working. Are they daisy chained together? The bulbs for the Auto magic and tuning are good. So I'm figuring if one of the dial needle lights go out it takes those with it. Thanks

For the Tape 2 and Dub Out jacks on the front, do you need a 1/4” to male RCA cable? I’m guessing Tape 2 is Play and Dub Out is Record? Weird that it’s on the front panel.
Hey man, I’m having a specific problem with mine I was wondering if you had insight on it. When I turn on the radio (am or fm) the radio works for a few minutes before it simply goes quiet. No static. Nothing. Before it goes quiet it receives the signals extremely clear and loud, in stereo and all. Any thoughts?
I just got one of these and it does not have that 220 cap and board underneath as yours does. The radio works great, overly powerful bass with loudness on same as yours.
Ron, I don't actually know the size, decades ago I bought a small wrench kit from Japan that had various sizes needed for VCR & Camcorder work, all the sizes were written in Japanese. I would imagine any kit with small sizes would have the one you need.
@@luvradios they may have farmed that out,,,my 2100d was made by foster wish i never sold it i do have a mint 2000d off ebay ..needed relamped but caps were like new
Close. The STA-225 was made by Foster Electric. Fostex was a Foster brand name at the time and was unrelated to receivers. All of the large receivers (STA-2000, 2000D, 2100, 2100D, 2300, 2080, 2290) were made by Tandy Electronics.
Nice job on the fader volumes
Thanks CW5840 & thanks for checking out the video man!

Chtyan, thanks for checking out the video and those old Realistic receiver's are awesome (IMO)

@@chtyan , you can get the service manual free at: hifiengine.com The schematic will show you how the lamps are wired, I don't recall how they are.
Excellent as usual 🤙🇺🇸
Love the Realistic line of receivers and amplifiers.
The Mach 1's were a beast!
I'm still looking for my untouched pair of Mach 1's
@@luvradios oh man... Those are like finding the D9's or a pair of Sansui SP5000's 🙏
I just picked up 2 Realistic receivers from the late 80s: STA-117 & a STA-2150...
I owned a STA-2250 once, sweet receiver.
Playing with this stereo right here way back when I first became interested in music..
Hop, thanks for checking out the video!
Good job. Sounds very nice 👍
Tony, thanks for checking out the video!
Enjoyed the video! Any idea where I can get replacement display panel bulbs?

Great video.
Ron, Thanks for checking out the video!
Tom petty good music choice 👌
atw, Thanks for checking out the video!
Doesn’t YT ding you for playing the music? Most other channels can only play 2-3 seconds worth? Digging the channel 😊
Here Comes My Girl by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers is a great song also!
I recently purchased 2 Realistic AM/FM Stereo Receivers being a STA-117, & A STA-2150...
18:18 probably just part of the filter .

What grease are you using for the sliders? Thanks :)
I used white lithium grease in this case but some sliders use damping fluid instead.
Could you tell me what size wrench does it take to get the nobs off?

Is there a video on preamp repair.
Unfortunately, this is the only one of that model I have done on my channel but thanks for checking it out.
Realistic made some great receivers for a low price. It only plays down to 30hz... weird.
They sure did! STA-2280/90 comes to mind.
It is made by Fostex in Japan.
Correct but what about that amp board with the Panasonic logo on it?
@@luvradios they may have farmed that out,,,my 2100d was made by foster wish i never sold it i do have a mint 2000d off ebay ..needed relamped but caps were like new
Panasonic was just one of the suppliers for the boards. Alps,Elna were other suppliers
