Are you new to slot cars? Are you trying to figure out what set to buy?
In this video I suggest a set to start with AND I show you how to assemble it.
Thanks to Hornby America, without their support this video would not have been possible.

I started with NINCO and enjoyed it but had hard time getting extra parts in USA. I purchased the big 4 lane POLICAR set and am really impressed . All car brands work without changing guides. The boarder track extension makes for awesome drifting around curves. The adjustable power is a great idea so kids are not crashing cars all the time. Plus there are adapters so I can add my NINCO track into my layouts!

I bought this set last week at a toy fair , it was going cheap so I thought I'd give it a try and I love it , far better than the Scalextric track I currently have , I will be buying more .

Awesome video!! Can not wait to get started with this. I'm a 52 year old Kid. Into Guitars, and some other fun stuff. Boating. Etc. Used to play with slot cars when I was a kid, with Grandpa and Da. That was a long time ago. I think I'm going to get a set, and do some of this with my Girls and Wife! They would enjoy it, and I know I would!! Should be some good family time. And we'll drive ole' Otis crazy!! The Doggo. LOL Thanks for doing this vid. I want to start with 1/32. And a set similar to this. Maybe a few extra straights. Great vid!!

I just bought a carrera digital 132 GT race battle. I haven’t played with slot cars since I was a young kid. I can’t believe how technology has made slot car racing so much more fun and entertaining with digital. I almost was gonna buy the scalextric stock car challenge but then went digital.

you can't make a "wrong" choice so enjoy the slot set you have and if you have any questions let me know if I can help. I worked for Carrera for about 7 years.

@@youknoweverything7643 whatever you can drive faster. There's no way to say which exactly would be faster simply based on a car being digital or analog.

Hello Dave,, Nice way to start my morning with coffee n stream. Your wait is over, excitement in your voice!..lol . That is a great starter set. Policar is thinking and thinking well. You picked a good product to premier. And a product you believe in and use. Great quality track, not overly large layout for starting out. The variable voltage is a game changer. THE slotcars that came with the set very cool. Clear window some detail inside, even working front headlights. The magnet setup will benefit newbies or beginners or even super seniors..Lol..Seen the videos on the Policar of how to add on for expanding the width of track so multiple lanes can be created. Over all for me A+ presentation. You are to the point, not alot of blah b;ah blah with your presentation(s) thank you..

R5? Nice! Even if you aren't running a 10-lane track, having that large radius turn all by itself is a nice option.

I have Policar track for my layout, and I really enjoy it. I like the variable power supply and the extra grippy surface because I run my cars with no magnets. Also it is sized right between Scalextric and Carrera track, so you can fit more in an area than Carrera but yet it doesn't take up much more room than Scalextric. Also, I believe it has the deepest slot of the three brands. I bought Professor Motor triggered controllers to replace the stock plunger controllers. I've had my layout for about 6 months now and no complaints!

The track surface look so good, way better than "SPORT" track, reminds me of the surface of "CLASSIC" tracks, and I guess stock rubber tyres will work well on it, I am so dissapointed with my "SPORT" track corner grip, you have to invest in at least urethane tyres for you cars if you want to gain max benefit from the set, GOOD ON YOU POLICAR
I would love to see a close up of the cars , and what the weights are, 14k motors can give you as much fun as 18k if the track is good and the cars are light

I went with Scalextric but in the future if Policar keeps updating track and brings something like an analogue base with app connectivity I am tempted to trade my Scalextric track in.

Hey SCN, just watched your other video about how there are really only three 1/32 options to consider, but can't find that video, so I think posting here is appropriate. Let me ask, does Policar only make the one Subaru/Toyota set for 1/32 size? I don't really care for the cars, but I can't see they make other cars currently. Should I just run other-brand 1/32 cars on this track and call it a day and just expand the Policar set as I see fit? Do they have any drag strip add-ons such as a Christmas tree/finish line for their tracks? Or should I just go with Carrera? Thank you.

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for your video. I did slot cars in the 60's and just bought this set for my grand kids for the holidays. One thing that isn't clear is I also bought separately some guardrails which I felt they needed. As I started looking into this further, I realized you need the outside border sections on which to attach the guardrails, so I re-ordered some. Then I realized that I needed to order more border sections when I saw how many guardrails I got to be able to attach all of them. This should be explained better on the Policar website. Also, if they ever wanted to go digital, it seems that they would need to go to an Oxigen system by Slot-it but Policar doesn't sell a lane switch unit yet that I know of. It would be great if someone or some site could explain all this and how you could go digital in the future with a Polycar track system.

Would you need to do any guide modifications to run Carrera cars with the longer, thicker guides to navigate the tighter radius turns? Found that to be an issue with Ninco. Love the channel and videos. Thanks for sharing the information and products.

Thanks for the info. Without a bit of low-tech modification they get caught up sometimes. Would love to hear of a smaller guide swap for them to a more Slot.It sized guide. Thanks again.

No gaps at all. It’s the texture on the track that makes it look like that.

What does the button on the controller do? Is it a boost button like Carrera Go?
Also, is the track wide enough for 1/24? It's much wider than needed for 1/32, but maybe some of the wider 1/24 (like LMP) won't fit?

    • @SlotCarNewsOfficial
      @SlotCarNewsOfficial  2 года назад +2

It has no function in this system for the button on the controller, it's "just there". I will address the idea of 1/24 in another video soon.

    • @SlotCarNewsOfficial

so there are no gaps in this track. there are edges where the texture ends and there's a smooth part where the track sections join.

it's a small starter layout yes. But the track is cheap enough that if you bought 2 of these sets it would probably still be cheaper than a Carrera set with about 24 feet of track in it.

Why not just buy some turbo racing 1/76 and build your own track?
I had slot when I was a kid but wanted more than just a gas pedal not flying off challenge.
My dad loves these but it’s too much like nascar for me
