I have a Riggen car that needs to come back to life, so I would welcome a new motor. You have hit the nail on the head with you commentary of the demise of the hobby. I am hoping that I can bring some interest where I live. I am hoping to get kids who are not involved in anything and hopefully slot car racing will fill a void!

You lost me when you said its not about winning, I am in it for the competition and strive to get the best out of the car and my driving (high speed thought).

As a 76 year old I go way back to the very early days of slot car racing. In the 60’s slot car racing was huge. Every hobby shop carried all types of cars, sets and parts. Now you have to search on line and never really know what you are buying until it arrives. I do agree that the hobby is better than ever as far as the cars and sets are concerned but where are these hobbyists. I don’t know where they are. I am on my own and that isn’t much fun. You’re spot on with your editorial. I am also in the British sports car hobby and we are all old with very few young people. Our club seems to be holding on for the moment but I am afraid in ten years there may be no one left.

Dave, I don't buy a lot of cars but when I do I tend to buy 2 of the same car in different liverys. That way I can race evenly against each other and I have a baseline car to test various tuneup ideas and methods against. Plus it saves on postage, or at least thats what i tell SWMBO. I'd love to have one of these motors for some side by side testing. But mostly I'd just like to get something with your autograph on it!

Dave, nice video and commentary. I agree that we need more $7.99 good quality motors. I’m finding it fun to try small low cost tweaks on cars rather entertaining and tips from the RUclipsrs out there is so helpful. Even though I have many digital cars I’m starting to get converted to analog, there’s just something appealing to the simplicity of a great quality analog cars like Revo, NSR, and others. I’m holding pretty firm to the digital world for those times I want to race a bunch of cars with my friends and family. As to why I would like a motor; I recently had my first motor go up in smoke on me so I actually need a new motor to replace one that went belly up. Thanks for all you do to promote the hobby, I look forward to your weekly videos.

Ok, I have never replaced a motor. So if I am lucky enough to get one I will attempt the motor change an a older car.

Those VW Scirocco's look great. I agree the Marcos is a hideous car. Of those tribute liveries in my opinion the STP is the best.

Excellent commentary, Dave. The slot car online community, however defined, has taken the lead on marketing, car tuning, track building, scenery, and the whole works. Let's face it...most of us probably make car buying decisions based on what you and others feature in your content.

Hi Dave, I watched this back on Saturday. I definitely agree with you that things are not the same these days. I went to a swap meet in February and the average age of the people who attended I reckon was around 60 years old. I would put this down to the temporary set up tracks rather than having a dedicated space for them. I believe our hobby is niche and advancement in technology now means that children generally spend more time on their mobile phones rather than in the company of other humans so both technology and society issues exist. What great value those motors are! Who doesn’t want an $8 motor? I love the work all the slot car UTubers do and they are the true promoters of the hobby. Keep up the great work 👍🏻💕

Dave, a cyclone motor be nice to have. At our race group we have box stock rules yet nobody seems to be box stock. They run motors for 24 hours, they grease up every moving bit, they trim chassis, they might even be zapping these c can motors. But some are just to freaking fast to be box stock. Even thought about hand out motors to attempt to be bix stock. Just a sad deal to be bix stock in an ENHANCED field of racers!

I’m brand new to the hobby. I have 5 cars (all 1/32). I love learning and I think it would be fun to do my first motor replace/install. So that’s my pitch 😂

I would like to try that motor since the motor i bought for my 12 year slot it draws to much current, for the carrera track i race on at my local hobby shop.

I am building my first scratch built slot car, so this would be a GREAT addition. Great video as always, Chris.
