Thanks Jimmy, I recently bought a Pint for my morning commute here in Sydney from home to the CBD. For me, range or speed aren’t an issue as it’s only 4km to the office and I am happy cruising at around 18kmph so the pint is perfect. Had I seen this a few weeks ago I might have considered the EUC however, I’ve really fallen in love with the Pint and Onewheeling in general. Thanks for another great video, you’ve got a new subscriber in me 🤩.

I feel this review hits the points just right.
For my use case the Pint is just right, as I get around the range and top speed issues by adding dog power as that is my main use case, and having the carving, nimbleness and small size is better for me to avoid dog/board contact and to follow them on rough trails.
I don't use this for commuting or travel, just for the stoke and dog surfing, great video to help you choose the product that fits your personal uses

Have had my pint for about 2 weeks now and loving it. As a new Dad I run out of time before I run out of battery haha. Also not sure if it's because I'm in a warm area (aus) or my mostly street riding and lowish weight but I can get 18 klm (11 miles) out of my pint which is more than I need. Thanks for making these videos Jimmy, helped me decide to purchase a onewheel on the first place.

How is it holding up? Ive had mine a little over a week. At first i was getting good milage out of it, about 1.3+ miles for every 10% of power. This morning was getting less than 1 mile per 10%? I know its advertised 6 mile range which is now making me worry, maybe as these batteries get broken in they lose range?

Nug changed the game for my big ol size 12.5 feet. I’m 30 riding days and 155mi into loving my Pint (Bought it in early November, broke a rib a week or sat later, transitioning into an uphill segment. Laughed it off, it didn’t stop me from riding. Haven’t fallen off since, learned a valuable lesson! 😉)
Anyway... Had zero OW experience, haven’t ever been on any other type of OW, so my experience isn’t polluted by any other expectations. I look enviously at the XR+, and will likely buy one sometime down the road (or whatever the newest OW is at that point, PintXR+?), but this Pint does it for me now. I’m a big guy, started riding at 280lbs, down to 265 this week, and pushback still works. That said, my mileage is limited to about 5.5mi a charge, so range anxiety is a real thing. I usually get about 30min before I need that recharge, so resting is mandatory. Don’t really need a higher speed, but some range will be welcome eventually.
Loving the little shred sled, best purchase I’ve made in a long time. No regrets... we’ll see how I feel in 6 months.

Jimmy you do a tremendous job with your videos. THANK YOU. Here is one think I would add to your review. I added some fangs and a external battery. Because of the fangs and incredible pushback with the pint I have had no bails in over 1000 miles of use. Lastly, the external battery was very easy to install and it gives me an additional 20 miles of range. So I get the carving elements that the pint offers with more range than the XR. It is truly the best of both worlds. Thanks again Jimmy for all your great videos!!!

Commenting to say thank-you for your videos. They both educated me on and inspired me to get a onewheel. I recently purchased a used pint and haven’t been on a skateboard since I was a kid (I’m now in my late 30’s). Your videos gave me the information and confidence I needed to try something new and keep trying. After a couple falls and getting out of my own head, I just practiced some figure 8s in the street around my my house and before I knew it, I’d put a mile and a half on the board. To quote “What About Bob”, “baby steps”. Thanks again for everything you do.

Without the Pint I wouldnt have ever gotten into OneWheeling. I find it fits my life just right. The onyl time I notice the range limits is if Im riding with XR owners and even then they're all usually ready to call it when I'm dead anyways. It's a great entry level device for this sort of thing and has definitely sold me on the whole thing. I have something to look forward to in an XR upgrade someday and then my son can ride the Pint with me.

I love my onewheel pint. I agree that the range is a little low but the charge time isn't too bad, usually under 30 min for from 5% to full.
If people are watching this and worried about the range, check out CarvePower, they offer a battery pack that can recharge your battery to full in about 30 min 1.5 times. Its pretty great and an awesome extender for range.

I do exactly just that. I have it in my trunk when I go out to places. I've also taken it to ride in parks, on the shore of the beach, Downtown. You name it. But Jimmy is dead on in this review. I love the mobility and nimbleness of the Pint--It offers a quick zip, but if you're looking for something with range and power, it's the XR. I hope they make the future models of XR as nimble as the pint in the future.

Thanks Jimmy for another great video review of the Pint. Got my Onewheel Pint 1/14/2020, a week before I had to leave for South America, and so I only rode it a few times. Snow and cold in Wisconsin and getting ready for the trip. But as a windsurf/kitesurf and snowboard guy, there is no way I would give up the "board" feel and fun for any kind of EUC. It is able to go anywhere I can go on my long board and more, and it is definitely safer on the hills.
I am planning on riding it in my subdivision, on trails, and taking it on my travels with my T@B. (But, not to Colombia where I am now. Don't care to risk it with something so unusual down here. Will stick with my motorcycle.) Easy to stash in the SUV with my other gear. Should be great for getting around campgrounds easily and on bike trails. As for range, it isn't an issue as I will take the car or motorcycle when I want to go any great distance. Often it involves a shopping trip or two anyway. Can't take a sheet of plywood or a weeks worth of groceries on any EUC or Onewheel. I want it for fun and adventure, and for that the Pint is perfect. At 140# I believe that the XR would be much more than I need as far as size is concerned and I wouldn't want to sacrifice the carving and nimbleness of the Pint. Glad I waited until this came out.
Was planning on waiting until Springtime to get the Pint, but after watching some of your reviews and others, I couldn't wait. Now I have something to look forward to when I get back in April, without worrying about whether I could learn to ride it (took about 15 minutes) or if it would suit me. As for the honeymoon period being over, I'm not sure why, since all the positives mentioned in the first review are still listed, and the negatives of lower range and charge time were there 6 months ago. If I needed longer range and shorter charge time I would buy an XR, but for me the advantages of the Pint well outweigh these factors. The speed limitation doesn't take away from the fun of cruising, carving, and mimicking snowboarding, and helps keep it safer, so I don't view that as a negative for this kind of board. One negative seems to have disappeared altogether as I did not see a mention of blue tooth connection problems. Perhaps Future Motion has corrected it, and personally have not seen a single instance of that being a problem, even when a significant distance from the device. If anyone is looking for a true "boarding" experience, you can't go wrong with the Pint. I love my Pint!!!

  • @nolan9101
    @nolan9101 4 года назад +2

Eight hundred miles and six months later, I still love my Pint. My top complaints are also the range and charge time. The charge time can be lowered to 50 minutes with the better charger from FM, but that's another $120. My warranty just ran out on the battery, so I'm extending the range by adding another battery with SonnyWheels' kit. I should get around 25 miles on it after that, so that'll be awesome. I love the board.

    • @nolan9101
      @nolan9101 4 года назад +1

Jimmy Chang, the battery kit works great. I just went and rode twenty miles on it through Atlanta today with a group. It boosted my range from seven miles to ~twenty. My fender actually hadn’t come in by today and the roads and sidewalk are a little wet, so I was able to strap the battery to my back footpad and fashion a poor man’s fender into place to protect my jeans. I already love the pint because of how snappy it feels and it fully retained that feeling with the greenworks battery attached, only becoming a little more sluggish through the last four miles, but even that was perfectly manageable and able to be pushed-through safely. I just wish that I’d known about the $100 alternative to the greenworks battery before I purchased it. I’ll definitely pick up a second battery for when I’m expecting a really long haul. I love that I’m able to have a snappier, smaller board with the range of an XR with very little hassle now. Sonnywheels’ kit is far overpriced in terms of what materials are provided, but he deserves every penny that he received from me for making that reality possible.
By the way, I remember you mentioned in a video a while ago that you would mail people one of your stickers if they mailed you their pint business cards. Is that offer still on the table? I’d love to have something to decorate my new fender with.

    Bye Felicia! (Pint)
This video describes exactly how I feel too! Same frustrations same scenarios.
    EUC to the rescue!
MSX daily and looking to add MTen3 for the “park stuff” and blasting around locally; which my Plus and Pint are currently doing.
One thing I would like to add is the body positioning when comparing OW and EUC.
I ride mostly street with a healthy amount of off roading; not a huge trickster though, so keep that in mind because this is just my personal opinion.
I find the forward facing stance of an EUC more natural and comfortable.
It gives me better visibility and also provides more stability and responsiveness, which at higher speeds becomes exponentially more important.
Another huge benefit is the reduction in strain on my legs and hips.
On the OW my leading hip is always on fire and sore. On the EUC my body feels more in balance and the workload gets split more evenly.
Great video as always but the quality, production, and audio on this one definitely doesn’t go unnoticed.
    👏

Sam Singh the XR would be more stable and more holes maybe 18. I don’t have trouble balancing with the bag on the pint. I keep it light with less than a full bag and carry it in one hand and not the shoulder strap. I went down once going wide open in the fairway and hit a hidden grass hole. I find it best to tuck and roll in the grass if that happens. It is a fun 9 holes. People will be very curious!

I just ordered a Pint. My plan, if I enjoy using it (which I'm guessing I will!) is to get the Quart battery swap from Chi. It's pricey at nearly $400 extra, but almost doubles the range. I feel like that'll give me the advantages of the Pint like the nimbleness and the stronger pushback, but not be too worried about range. An since it is a swap, the app will still work (though have to look at the voltage in the settings to know how much is left after it hits half-way).
There's also the VnR that lets you use tool batteries (either clipped to the fender or in a backpack w/ a long quick release cord), which triples the range for around $300 total (and can carry a spare battery for even more range). There's also X2R which has a fender with built-in battery for $250. All of them of course require voiding your warranty and require different levels of modding to make them work (and some you can't use the app at the same time), but I think it's potentially worth it to have the range without actually needing an XR.

I love my pint and looking to adding a XR eventually for my long rides around my home. One plus of that pint is that I can take the pint on airplanes since its battery is below the 160 Wh limitation.

  • @SouthpawBluesman

I find an 8 mile range to be plenty for exploring, and I'm amazed you think a 100 minute charge time is long!! Try charging up a Mavic Mini or any drone and see how long that takes :) Also the faster the charge the more potential damage to the battery, so fast charging is a bad idea tbh.. I would like an XR at some point, but mainly for its off-road capabilities, the pint is a bit squirelly of-road.... Great video my friend, lol no wonder you have no range carrying 40lbs of unicycle on your Pint hahahahahaha :)

#1 reason stopping me from purchasing 1 or multiple Pints is the the LOW RANGE & LONG CHARGE TIME. I feel like fir the amount of money invested in this I wouldn’t get enough ride time as I would want. For that reason I’ll purchase another electronic device but I’ll keep my eye out if they change this.

  • @stewartbisset

Jimmy great content. I think price is a much more significant factor in favour of the pint, in particular for non US buyers of onewheels. For example, here in Australia the pint is now over two thousand australian dollars and the XR is over three thousand seven hundred australian dollars. This is due currency conversion, duty, and freight charges. The XR Is simply too expensive. Three of them would get you a small car. So that leads us with the pint, and battling with its range. In this area, the one remedy left for us Aussie riders is to lose weight. The extra range, for 10 kg and more weight loss is very material.

Good review. As a newb, I was thinking of a onewheel, but the Pint's problems were pretty obvious. The XR seemed to be lacking polish as evidenced by all the needed upgrades (e.g. fangs). So I bought an EUC instead. I'm looking forward to the next Onewheel: range and speed of the XR but the polish of the Pint.

Thanks for another great review, Jimmy! I love the thought that you put into your vids, and that your e-vehicle hobby is now a family pastime. As a dad with young kids myself, your kids are an inspiration. Riding context defines tastes, I am a Pint floater myself living in a Nordic city, so I balance commute and even trail rides with public transit on trams and buses...so i have no issues so far with range, and as a lifelong snowboarder, the carviness of the Pint is a huge draw. I used to live in Colorado myself, in Boulder, and if I llived there now, I would not even consider the Pint due to range. One pro that did not come up is weather resistance, as you are in a desert climate, it's not as much on your wish list. But the Pint is a champ on damp roads and a drizzle, though I try to avoid the larger puddles.

But as a windsurf/kitesurf and snowboard guy, there is no way I would give up the "board" feel and fun for any kind of EUC. It is able to go anywhere I can go on my long board and more, and it is definitely safer on the hills.

Wow Jimmy, totally mind-blowing on several different levels. First off, I couldn't have said it better about the Pint. I had mine for a month, it was my gateway drug into the world of Onewheeling, I fell in love with Onewheeling because of it, but hated the range anxiety, even though I even bought an ultracharger for it. After one month I traded it in for an XR and have loved the freedom that comes with the XR ever since. You pulled that Gottway out of your backpack like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat! It was wild to see you riding down the road on the EUC carrying the Pint. Wow! Question, can that particular EUC handle off roading or is it pretty much strictly for the sidewalk and the road?

Hi, Appreciate the honesty and good insight of your experience but the lens you seem to look through is one of already having an XR before receiving a Pint. Truely ask yourself..if you did not know and just bought a pint ( remember your new stoke experience first time on a onewheel) would you spend what you can get in range of the pint x2 in dollars (even more in pounds) for an extra 6-7 miles Range (15 miles and less than 2x the range) average? Over time there will be more pint users across the globe than XR users. BTW I do music for media as a hobby if interested.

Not gonna lie, I almost feel like it's not that the Pint is too slow, but that the XR is too fast. Folks who put hundreds of miles on their OWs each year can handle the higher speeds safely because they're riding a bunch. But if you're riding an order of magnitude or less per year, do you _reeeally_ wanna be hitting 20 mph?
To echo the comments below, I bought a pint and have never once been frustrated by the power. The range is puny, but the pint isn't really made for long hauls (it's a bit narrow to be standing on for an hour+ so from an ergonomic standpoint, it's a coupe, not a camry).
To extend the car metaphor a bit, the Pint is like the mx-5. Sure, there are things that are more powerful, but for the price, you can be on the limit all the time and flick the thing wherever you want. It's such a joyous little machine. I find myself smiling whenever I go for a float.
