I only met ONJ one time, but it is etched in my memory. I was a limo driver and drove Rod & Alana Stewart to Olivia's Christmas Party at her Malibu home in 1985. About an hour after we arrived, it began to rain. I was the only limo driver there and was standing outside in the rain with an umbrella, when ONJ suddenly came strolling out on her covered patio. She saw me, and motioned for me to come inside. She told me to sit in the kitchen, and proceeded to fix me a plate of food. She was married to Matt Lattanzi at the time, and they both checked on me from time to time to make sure I was comfortable. I was such a fan, and this kind gesture made me even more so. I met hundreds of celebs over the years but ONJ was my favorite to meet. She was a beautiful lady, an amazing artist and I miss her dearly. RIP, lovely and down-to-earth muse!

We had her music and videos to transport ourselves and relive all those beautiful years, but even more, she herself was also like a living connection to all those cherished moments of our youth. This movie did a beautiful scars in my brain. I was 12 when I saw it for the first time in 1980. After 44 years still has their fresh scent and flavor when you could breathe magic. I don't know WHAT IT IS about this song that is so majestic, and completely enthralling to me. I mean to say that there are the obvious factors involved: like my life-long love of this movie and its soundtrack; as well as my childhood crush on Olivia Newton-John (I was 5-years-old in August 1980) and her almost angelic vocal performance; or the pledge of a love that would outlast the ages in the lyrics. Watching this video clip from the movie has opened my eyes to something that I never realized was there before. The sounds of the wind blowing in the background as the song is played add an extra layer of an almost haunting melancholy to the song. I wish that it was there in the background of the audio recording!

I don't know WHAT IT IS about this song that is so majestic, and completely enthralling to me. I mean to say that there are the obvious factors involved: like my life-long love of this movie and its soundtrack; as well as my childhood crush on Olivia Newton-John (I was 5-years-old in August 1980) and her almost angelic vocal performance; or the pledge of a love that would outlast the ages in the lyrics. Watching this video clip from the movie has opened my eyes to something that I never realized was there before. The sounds of the wind blowing in the background as the song is played add an extra layer of an almost haunting melancholy to the song. I wish that it was there in the background of the audio recording!

What a beautiful song, sung by a beautiful creature named Olivia. She looked like she did in the mid-70's, just before she got the 80's look.
I really want to watch Xanadu again when I get the chance. It will be a nostalgic trip back to my childhood. Only vaguely remember the movie. This sentimental song of hers would be a fitting song for a tribute video to her, since her lifework really will be suspended in time.
