Of course - Ihsahn will always be loved for his contribution to the heavy canon. But fuck me, he knows how to write a great, rounded perfectly melodic song. Fantastic work, Ihsahn.

Ihsahn, Opeth and Devin are all going into a somewhat similar direction. Vaguely. Are (these) veterans of metal getting bored of their older style, which brought them where they are? Or is it progress?
I think they´re just moving forward, be it more melodical, heavier, more progressive... if they would keep doing the same it would be boring, this way it makes it interesting and authentic, but of course not everyone is going to like it

@@gst9325 Ha ha. That is some great advice that the internet and cancel culture as a whole could take a look at. I like that I'm challenged in this way by this artist. It's true what you say. What's even more, the internet articles for public figures tend to highlight only controversial or bad things about people, so I really have nothing to shape my view of an artist than their current music (reflecting their current personality) and very tiny snippets of whatever public information is available. If people only knew me based on the bad or controversial stuff I'd ever done in my younger days, I would really feel cheated. You make a great point!
