My mate would've loved this cover. R.I.P. Benny Harvey, miss ya big man
gon but not forgo'en
Imagine if Emperor dropped a new album and it was all A-ha.
Not sure I would even be mad.
For 20yrs plus I kept saying „I listen to virtually everything between A-ha and Emperor“ [depending on mood]...now it all of a sudden seems pretty narrow-minded indeed... 😂😂😂
Grow up. Maybe it's time to move on.
You can be metal. But you never will be sa metal as Ihsahn with a pink guitar on top of a mountain.
#NoLiesDetected
All that's missing are the lightning flashes and the Aurora Borealis in the background... 😁
are they stuck on mountains?
this is a prime example how cringy it must be to record music videos in general. just imagine hiking on a mountain in suits then fooling around with a guitar connected to nothing trying to look badass while risking that other people might see you
@@demorez5 search for the video for Emperor - The Loss and Curse of Reverence and you will see Ihsahn being even more cringy in a forest, with plate armor, candles and other shit.
Good friend of mine loved listening to A-ha. Manhattan Skyline was his favorite song out of their playlist; unfortunately he left us a few years ago. Listening to this brings a tear to my eye - he would've loved this. I feel like he's right here with me right now... I can feel his warmth next to me. I miss you, my friend. Hope you're soaring, Benny.
RIP. Benny Harvey. Good guy
Miss ye big man
Gone but not forgotten
Love you Big man RIP
RIP Benny Harvey. I miss you big man
Life doesn’t get much better than Ihsahn doing a-ha. What a day to be alive.
What a day I found these on the end of an acid trip
@@metalmaniaclukeuk How did that go? 😁
I wish he would do an 80s album
Couldn't of put it better myself
@@metalmaniaclukeuk otp po co loo
Ihsahn should do a whole album of 80s covers...
Sypholux ulver would do it
and be my teacher by the way...;)
@@BlackiceLORD Now you got me wanting an Ihsahn/Ulver split of covers
and all with Einar
@Stefan Herdzik omg
Ihsahn is in the same category of musical geniuses like devin townsend and steven wilson.
😁And with more charisma and musicality than the two of them together.
well in a way. As in they are awesome live. but too clean and uninteresting in studio. But Ihsagn have the Emperor-stuff which is awesome in studio as well
@@helenhunt5414 Sorry but Steven Wilson could run rings around Ihsahn musically..... just not with extreme metal...
@@azrael666ethereal Steven is really good with some of his compositions, but can be a bit boring with others. It's hit or miss with him, at least to my taste. Maybe I am not very objective as I am still mad at Wilson for ignoring ABBA albums in his podcast about best albums of 1979.
man you forgot Mikael Åkerfeldt
Benny Harvey (RIP) looks at us from the sky. Gone But Not Be Forgotten. Miss Ya Big Man... btw. Great song and great cover.
GBNF
RIP Benny Harvey
Get yourself a friend who will sing at the top of a mountain in Norway with you ❤️
*brother-in-law :P
Einar's hauntingly beautiful vocals leave me in AWE. The man was born to be a vocalist
Took me a while to get into his style (and Leprous). Glad I stuck with it
He also played live keyboards for Emperor.
@@MrChefroadie I did not know that, that's cool. I saw Emperor years ago in London. Amazing live
@@LeeJoRo In fact. Ihsahn is his brother in law. 😁
@@MrChefroadie first time I saw this, I sent it to a friend saying "hey, I didn't know you did an Aha cover with Gary Barlow" - he looks a bit like Ihsahn. I take it all back. Still a great song.
Hope they do more crossovers
Einar's voice and Ihsahn's brain give us one of the best covers that the world can actually get.
@Christian: Ave to that!
Benny Harvey… gone but not forgotten.
Imagine growing up with Ihsahn as your brother in law. These two working together are definetely the best
And Starofash as your sister too 😉
There are no words to describe the beauty of this A-ha cover.
Ihsahn has proved once again that he is an artist with a much higher than average sensitivity and taste.
He's a great musician, I like that he can make any kind of music he wants to and dosent follow trends.
Give some credit to Einar Solberg too. He killed it on the vocals.
@@ZentrixXentrix Einar sang in a really vibrant and exciting way.
My girlfriend thought it was the A-ha at first and she hadn't understood it was a cover. 😉
I agree with you I have his album from emperor. To his solo albums the master
I disagree... Einar voice is quite the same as Morten; also the synths... Nice transformation but nothing more....
Benny would be happy to hear this. Shame he's not with us anymore. Miss ya, big man...
@Mathew Sherrington Some people say it's a running meme from Limmy's Show, but they say that because they never had the luck and the privilege to meet the big man. Ah, I truly miss you Benny. Wish you would be able to hear this brilliant cover.
@Mathew Sherrington No worries. You are indeed correct! I am from Greece, though not from Kerkyra. Brilliant island nonetheless!
@@eien.8 You live in Greece, but watch The Limmy Show? Mind-boggling. 👾
Gone but not forgotten
RIP Benny Harvey
They turned A-ha into AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
AHAHAHAHAHAH
LOOOOOOL
I came here for the "Aaaaaaaaa aaaaaaa" too!
😂😂😂
:-)))))))
Benny Harvey smiles at us from abuve
Gbnf!
Miss the big man
Great to see a Limmy fan here btw :)
Gone but not forgotten big man
Benny Harvey RIP. Miss ya big man. Gone but not forgotten.
Ihsahn is easily the most interesting musician to come out of Norway. I love that you never know what to expect anymore from his output, yet it's always high quality stuff.
What about Garm?
@@Pelanances Ulver rules 🕶️
Leprous is amazing too
Totally
@@mitchell9350 Absolutely!!!
I grew up an 80s kid and got into Black Metal in the 90s, this is awesome to me!! I've seen Emperor twice and like Ihsahns musical versatility with his solo works and Peccatum .
cool story
All of Ihsahn’s catalog is great, but (hot take time) Peccatum is his best work
same here !
Peccatum is so underrated
Arctis is right up there as well. A fuckin masterpiece.
Now i want them doing more and more 80's pop covers... would love to see them doing a Depeche Mode song!
Gone but not be forgotten
You should listen to Vader's version of "I.F.Y." 🤟🏻
I imagine ‘Tears for Fears - Shout’ from them. Should be awesome.
Einar- "Enjoy the Aaaaahaaaaas"
RIP Benny Harvey , Gone but not Forgotten. Miss ye big man
I am a metalhead BUT I love a-ha since the 80ies, cause I think they have together with abba the best melodies ever. This cover is absolut brilliant and together with "stay on these roads one of my favorite a-ha-songs ever!!! Horns up
Let's be honest - ABBA is waaaaay better, but A-ha is an excellent band. But the best Norwegian band of all time and in general one of the best in the world of all time is Leprous!
Same with me, I'm metalhead since 1986 but loves these band also: The Cure, Queen and A-ha, all are brilliant in my opinion!
Benny Harvey RIP.
RIP Benny Harvey. Miss ya big man, gone but not forgotten.
Benny Harvey R.I.P Miss you big man,
Gone but not forgotten.
BEAUTIFUL, Ihsan centimeters to a hello kitty guitar, the real deal is when the Emperor songs will be transcribred to an orchestra, the top
Wow.......aha meets take that meets Devin Townsend meets Depeche mode.....holy crap, this is an AA meeting.... ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
Ihsahn feat. Einar Solberg = pure awesomeness
Rest in peace Benny Harvey. Miss ya big man, gone but not forgotten.
I need these guys to do a full album together with similar vibes because holy shit this is incredible.
Agreed! Ihsahn did a whole? show with Leprous but i wanted the dvd
so i hope that there is one. Trying to find out now.
Einar's voice was perfect for the cover, especially with the use of high notes that he has easily.
I am impressed. Congratulations!🙌🇬🇧🇧🇷🎼🎙🙃
My love of Ihsahn and A-ha have joined forces!
I hope Morten Harket is seeing this cover and feel proud of his heritage
Morten Harket*
I do want to cry. I always cry. I'm a great cryer, and Richard Dreyfuss is too. There is absolutely no shame in crying. So here I go.
I need to hear both of you do more A-Ha!
Is it safe yet for metalheads to admit that we love A-HA?!!! BTW my favorite song on "Scoundrel Days" is "October!"
Oh gosh October is a beautiful song but my favorite from scoundrel days has to be Soft rains of april, that album is just a masterpiece, btw i love metal too
I have always had a sweet spot for a-ha even though i consider myself a metalhead! Einar Solberg is an increible vocalist🔥
@@jessicalizarraga9160 Gotta be Scoundrel Days ;) Love this album ... Liking this cover by Ihsahn too. Silky metal ...not bad ;)
Lol same here. I'm basically a metalhead but a-ha are really great and pretty underrated if you view them as some random 80s pop band
Slept on A-Ha for years. Wrote them off as just another floppy-haired synth-pop boy band for girls with no musical acumen. Very, very glad to have been proven wrong about 5 years ago, working through their material slowly but surely.
Ihsahn and Einar, a masterpiece comes when family gather together
I've thought so many times Einar sounds like Morten Harket, so this A-Ha cover is so spot on!
Okay Idk what aha you’ve been listening to but the last time I remember, morten doesn’t sound like that at all
We sit and watch umbrellas fly
I'm trying to keep my newspaper dry
I hear myself say,
"My boat's leaving now"
so we shake hands and cry
Now I must wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
You know
I don't want to cry again
I don't want to cry again
Don't want to say goodbye
I don't want to cry again
I don't want to run away
Don't want to race this pain
I'll never see your face again
Oh but how
How can you say
That I didn't try
You see things in the depths of my eyes
That may love's run dry
No
We leave to their goodbyes
I've come to depend on the look in their eyes
My blood's sweet for pain
The wind and the rain bring back words of a song
And they say: wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
Wave goodbye
But you know
I don't want to fall again
Don't want to look this pain
Don't want another friend
Don't want to try again
Don't want to see you hurt
Don't let me see you hurt
I don't want to cry again
I'll never see your face again
How can you say
That I didn't try
You know I did
You see things in the depths of my eyes
That my love's run dry
So I read to myself:
A chance of a lifetime to see new horizons
On the front page
A black and white picture
Of Manhattan Skyline
The amount of Limmy fans that seemingly love A-Ha/Ihsahn is giving me Hope for humans after all 😁
Brazilians A-ha fans should pay more attention to this performance. Prog rock lovers too.
Einar is such an exceptional singer. That guy can virtually sing anything and make it sound amazing!
Beautiful ❤️👏 Actually loved it more than the original, both instrumental arrangement and Einar's voice. Don't be mad, A-ha's fans🤷
I just love Morton Harket, this is a really difficult song. Beautiful.
All us metal heads born in the early mid 70s LOVE 80's music!!!!!!! This is fuckin GREAT!!!!!! Thanks Ihsahn for the A Ha cover!!!!!!
Hell yeah!
I had this guy in Highschool that i had always hated… he was a real jerk. Or so i thought… i myself had a lot of growing up to do… i was just jealous of how he had such a natural energy about him and such a great taste in music. I looked him up the other day. Found out he had passed away a while back….
Benny, we may never had been friends but you were friendly enough that it was an influence on making me the better man i am today.

Benny Harvey... RIP :( Miss u big man
This is absolutely amazing and Einar's voice has been haunting me for days now.
One of the best metal covers of all times in my opinion... Brilliant!!! Beautiful vocals... very close to original :)
Love it when an incredible metal musician plays awesome prog pop! The 80s called and I’m answering
This is my best song of a-ha and a great cover.Respect.
I am glad how carefully they treated the original. Thank you for having no excessive ad-libbing!
Although it would be interesting to hear a little more vocal power of some parts, and maybe a little complication of the guitar solo.
Well... This blew my mind. A A-ha cover by Ihsahn and Einar..... I think I'm in love.
Nossa, eu tbm. Esse ficou muito bom mesmo.
@@cinthiagarbez3746 vejo que tens bom gosto!! 👏🏻👏🏻😉
Beautiful and Energetic on the top of the mountain..
Ihsahn´s creativity and diversity always amazes me. Even if he does "just" a Cover of a Song.
Two talented Brothers-in-Law!!
Tremendo cover, genial, aguante Ihsahn carajo....saludos desde La Patagonia Argentina.
as a black and so on metal dude - this is one of the best Ihsahn songs
That solo is so sweet.
Good job, brought some tears to my eyes.. AHA. Must really be recognized, as one of the finest 80s bands ever... Leave Take on me on a side, and discover their songs, so many beautiful ones they have...
I don't remember if it was the RUclips algorithm, but blessed was the moment when I heard this song for the first time, thanks to this I met Ihsahn and Leprous.
i love metal, but a-ha rocks as well.
No surprises... great music, great musicians.
My favorite A-Ha song! Nice to see someone give something other than Take On Me attention!
This is so faithful and so rad. I actually spoke to Ihsahn about our mutual love of a-ha a couple of years ago on my podcast, No-Prize From God, if anybody wants to look for it!
I downloaded the episode and will listen during the week. Thanks
El tema mas Heavy de Aha!
A collaboration of a legend (Ihsahn) and the new voice of ne progressive (Einar) is just the perfect cover. Well done guys.
ihsahn is most creative!!! I like it even when I listen to black metal..
5 minutes of chills
The collaboration we didn't ask for but we needed
Man Einar just radiates coolness! Just recently found leprous and im pretty upset i didnt find em sooner lol
I am a simple woman: I see Ihsahn, and I love it.
Great cover of one of my favorite Aha songs - Manhattan Skyline!! Ihsahn is one og the greatest musicians ever and the vocals of Einar Solberg are just breath taking!!! Absolutely amazing!!!
Pharos comes out on my birthday! Fuck yeah!
Wow!! Amazing! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I love this song. I love this song for the reason it made me wonder if the word 'newspaper' had ever appeared in an Emperor song.
Einar is one of my fav Norwegian 'clean' metal vox/voces and with Ihsahn the genius,
this has got to be one of the most beautiful songs and video ever! Takk! Thanks!!
Best song to end 2020
"I don't want to cry again, I don't want to run away, I don't want to race this pain"
But I DO want to say goodbye
I absolutely love this cover!!!! It resonates well and channels a-Ha in a very beautiful way.... vocals are amazing and the guitar track is heavy and gorgeous...
OMG 👍💕 amazing!! Love from a real A-HA fan 💕
Yep. A-ha is Norway origin.
What you guys did with this song shook me hard. This is marvelous. I was a fan of a-ha since the 80’s and I’m just astonished. Thank you for this.
This has quickly became my friend and I's most played song. Absolutely enraptured by this. Always a long time fan of Ihsahn personally. Emperor especially. Love it all.
Ihsahn playing True Norwegian Music :D :D :D
Is it normal that's I'm listening to this at 10 am and tears are falling?
Why am I so addicted to this song ? Seriously ! Can't stop the repeat
Ihsahn you have made some of the most beautiful music in my opinion your music has gotten me through some hard times in life and I thank you for that
Two things :
. It's my favorite A-Ha song, and the cover is excellent
. I'm a fan of Ihsahn, and a telecaster lover. See them together is perfect
A-ha is such a great band! Hail ihsahn for that! Great cover! Great song! Hail from Brazil!
Realllly good song! Ihsahn has smashed it again and the guy from Leprous’s singing is out of this world!!
Good.
Really Good.
R.I.P Benny Harvey.
One of my absolute favourite songs as a child. Thank you for doing it justice!
Damn, what a cover of ah ha.
I never feel this before, Ihsahn u are a genius
The work of your life is one of the best of all time
Love it, more like this
I loved the original a-ha version when I was 13 years old.
now I'm shedding tears with this version, too good. appreciate to cover this song.
Benny would love this. RIP Benny Harvey, I miss him so much.
