This is such a f***ing awesome song! I’ve been trying to catch up on a lot of bands I missed. I’ve always been a huge SYL fan and devin just took it to a whole ‘nother level y’all! This man is a f***ing genius! I love all his songs and everyone of them hits me in the feels! Devin… if you are reading this please know that I have played bass guitar for 17 years and haven’t had time to pick it up for a few years now but when I found your project …. I can’t help myself. I am compelled to try to create as amazing of a sound as you have! It makes me think…. OH MY F**KING GOD!!!!!!!
So I've always heard of Devin Townsend and the Ziltoid albums, but I never checked him out. I saw DTP live a few days ago and I had to immediately rectify that mistake,I can't believe I didn't listen to his material earlier.
I thought I was the only one too. :3 Sky Blue felt like a brilliant amalgam of, dare I say, his entire discography in a way with some new twists. Not to mention considering the album's theme is centered around loss, it definitely hits home numerous times. For me at least. As for Dark Matters, HOLY SHITBALLS. Over-the-top hilarious, musically epic, and all around a barrel full of monkeys. ^^
I hate Sky Blue. It's the worst thing Devin has ever written hands down. It's hard for me to believe that the same guy who wrote Terria and Ocean Machine also wrote Sky Blue. Z2 was pretty bland as well. These two albums made me stop looking forward to his releases.
Wretneck oh my god a Ziltoid movie...... dude do you have any idea how quickly he would reach his pledge goal if he made a pledge campaign for a Ziltoid film?!!!
+Jeffrey Kolodziej I was gonna say the same thing. Although I don't drink or do drugs anymore (except smoke some weed), that would be one hell of a movie to watch while on some good shrooms/acid hahaha.
I never really listen to Devin Townsend much before but a friend gave me a free ticket to see him in Dublin tonight and this was one of my favourite songs 😍
santiago gonzalez I just heard this song a few days ago and it’s about listen 103 right now since I found it. So apparently Devin Townsend has like 2 albums and a comic around this concept. All tells a story
@@aarons720 I really don't remember, but the main comment was praising the voice of Maynard and someone did a comment about Devin having a similar style of voice
@TurnTimeTable I think the "slaves over masters" thing is meant to mean that these extraterrestial invaders are actually at the lowest rung of their society, yet above the masters of the conquered.
I was just thinking this sounds a cross between Danny Elfman and Samael, and as it turns out, this song was infact inspired by Samael's track "On Earth". I... want more of this.
00:00 until 2:44 should be played before kickoff at Pittsburgh Steelers home games. Text, music, so powerful. Telling the visitor team they are alone, warrior, STEEL US. et cetera.
I personally think Z2 is one of Devin's best. It's too bad so many get hung up on how technical individual elements are or aren't! It's all about the whole, baby. The choir stabs in this are just epic, and so is the climax! I really hope he plays this on the tour!!! :)
All Devin Townsend stuff is basically just fluff after Ocean Machine, Terraria... And his metal band "Strapping Young Lad" has some of the best material too. He became totally pop-obsessed at some point, it's kind of sad, cringey and cheesy, no matter how catchy it is sometimes. Regardless, his core material was a while ago.
One of the very few comment sections on youtube where positive people hang out. Refreshing to see people getting along for once. The power of Devin lol.
Ah his backing video during the live show! I thought I recognized this, then I saw the marching mechs and made the connection! Everyone at the show laughed when they saw that clip (at the Palladium).
0:29 I have no idea what those things are but I love the sorta weird, funny, creepy and kinda cute at the same time look they have to them. Cool song too
From all the Ziltoid multimedia we've got so far, I REALLY (REALLY) hope we get a Ziltoid movie in the (not to distance) future! (And I know Dev considered the idea back in 2012)
I would have probably dismissed this song if it wasn't for this video, which allowed me to fully understand the song and fully appreciate it for what it is supposed to be, rather than not meeting my expectations for what I was looking for. The lyrics on the screen and the way they are presented are perfect and add a LOT to the experience. Thank you so much.

Devin is Canada's real treasure. You don't even have to be Canadian to know that.
You did give us Neil Young though, so that kinda evens it out.
This could be said about Devin Townsend’s entire discography.
i really think i'll never get bored of this song

Ziltoid requires our finest coffee.
The weird thumbnail and floating alien heads did not prepare me for a legitimately awesome song.

What does this song mean? Reading the lyrics and watching the video, i dont understand whats happening.
@@RippedMoFuCk It's a Rock Opera, so the album it's only a Story with no real meaning
Welcome to Devin Townsend.
If you see Devin Townsend’s name on it, expect nothing but awesome
I wont accept an alien invasion unless they present themselves with this level of overbearing menacing metal.

The “Hey-ho” chorus has absolutely no right to be as catchy as it is. Absolute masterpiece!
The live version of this song at Royal Albert Hall is possibly my favorite rock march anthem. Rock on, Devin!
an absolute masterpiece of metal music.
Without Devin Townsend I would never be able to fully appreciate the depths of my insanity.
Try Igorrr
It's like a soundtrack for it, really.
My dad has been playing devin since I was a baby and somehow his songs still haven’t gotten old

Devin Townsend can be a very serious musician and also seem as he doesn't give a f*ck about his music, all at the same time.
So I've always heard of Devin Townsend and the Ziltoid albums, but I never checked him out. I saw DTP live a few days ago and I had to immediately rectify that mistake,I can't believe I didn't listen to his material earlier.
It's like a 80's comedy theme covered by metal heads. I love it!
Man just saw live for the first time last night. This song just grooved so hard. I recommend everyone try to catch DTP live whenever they can!
Really fucking heavy, very ambient and overall, unique. Never heard something like this before.
Devin Townsend will change your life. The album Deconstruction blew me away when I first heard it.

Listen to Terria and be amazed...
Tobias TK You like heavy? Give his other project a listen. Strapping Young Lad. Pure bloody magnificence.

My dad showed me Devin when I was like 2 years old and he gave me Addicted (The album) and Devin is and very good singer keep up the Work 👍👍
I hope I'm not the only one who absolutely loved both sides of Z2. It's an amazing work from Devy, and one of my top picks of the year.

1:07 it's captor not captive.
Saw this live in Atlanta last night. Fantastic.
Devin is the Tim Burton of metal
Good simile.
That sounds like an accurate description.
I'd love to hear what would come of a Devin Townsend and Danny Elfman collaboration.
*When Tim Burton was still good that is \m/
Danny Elfman is 100% responsible for the sound of music you associate with tim burton. Tim Burton isn't a musician.
Why am I loving this so much?
1:08 - Devin clearly sings "captor" not "captive".
that just means they have slaves rather than masters.
except it's captive as in captive warrior, not captor warrior.
I HEARD CAPTURED WARRIOR, THE D COMES IN RIGHT BEFORE HE SAYS WARRIOR SO IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE CAPTORED
He definitely said "captor" which also rhymes with the previous line
@TurnTimeTable I think the "slaves over masters" thing is meant to mean that these extraterrestial invaders are actually at the lowest rung of their society, yet above the masters of the conquered.
Aww man, those vocal harmonies in the chorus are intense!
This is a masterpiece. Thank you Devin Townsend for being awesome year after year.
Best lyrics video for a song ever!!! Creative, with hidden messages and a lot of effort. Love it
