Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk changed my world when it came out. I have a hard time listening to it because it’s so intertwined with my emotions, it literally bring me back in time. He is a brilliant composer...
He's currently one of the most interesting musicians in metal today. Every one of his solo releases has been amazing, particularly Arktis. Probably doesn't hurt that the Leprous guys help make those albums sound so killer and well played.
When you are so much of a black metal icon, you can afford not to make up, not to wear spikes, to write your band name in plain text, and do jazzy lounge music, and nobody dares to object :-)
Same applies for Emperor just walking on stage in plain black attire and no fancy stage props and it's the most anticipated festival appearances of the year. MASTERS!
Dekay i hope that you see Emperor, i saw them on Mexico last year and was just something else, for most of my life i was just a 100% sure that Emperor was that band that i will never see them live, because they werent together and if they played was only on big ass European festivals, so when i saw Emperor live that 12 yo kid that dreamed in vain to see them live just got his dream come true 12 year later it was magical, i hop you see them ´playing live.
Me too...I had the pleasure of seeing both acts on the 70000 tons of metal cruise last January. Isahn even joined Devin T on stage to perform on the final night. Amazing talent.
Anthems really is a masterpiece. Idk how the compositions aren’t cluttered. There is a lot going on with distortion over ringing open notes, dual guitar interplay, layered synth over top, and intense blasts and speed. It should sound jumbled but the melodic content is always present. You can’t write a better black metal record from a technical and compositional standpoint whilst maintaining the originality that record contains. Lesser bands may have some chuggy riffs over a beautiful orchestral score but on anthems all instruments played intricate nuanced parts that served the whole piece. I monumental record for sure.
@@BangerTV it really is. when the intro resolves into Ye Entrancemperium I don't think I've ever heard anything quite so majestic in the rock music sphere.
Everything that Ihsahn does is a masterpiece, living legend!
100%
Big fan of Ihsahn, and Dekay does a fantastic job with the interview, one of the best I've seen
Thanks for watching

Thank you for the interview! Ihsahn's the best, he's a big inspiration
Arktis is one of my favorite albums. So heavy, textured with cohesive well written songs but at the same time very creative

Life long fan of Ihsahn. Always love his interviews and tastes.
Pointed and thought-out questions, with informative answers. Well done.
Thanks for watching & for the kind words
Fantastic and very intellectual questions put to one of the most intellectual extreme musicians in the world today!
Great interview!
Great interview Daniel, as always. You have a way of discussing the craft elements with the metal icons.
Appreciate that my dude - Dekay
Great interview, Ihsahn seems so down to earth, he is also a brilliant artist
Was a pleasure chatting with him, seriously.
Epic Daniel what a bucket list to check off. Thanks for letting us see a glimpse of the mind of this genius. Great interview.

The absolute legend that is Ihsahn. Both Eps are amazing
They contrast each other perfectly
Great Interview!

Another reason I like Dekay. He's an Ishahn fan too!

Awesome. He's a genius. Want to hear that A-Ha cover. Thank you, Banger TV.

Magical record.

uuuf, muy buena entrevista.
Contaminate Me with Leprous live at Rockefeller Music Hall is one of the greatest things I have ever seen or heard
Music is Life...
And life is music!
Great interview with Trevor Strnad
How doesn't this have any likes?!
Nice!
Norwegian metal master Deshaun!
Good interview with Anders Friden!
*WAIT A MINUTE......*
How did you not ask about the concept for the next full length or any details on it? Come on, Dekay....
Maybe we did....
@@BangerTV Video of Ihsahn's answer or I'm calling a bluff!
lol its weird to see him now
Why is that? Legit curious as to what makes you say that. Not trying to start anything lol
@@josephblight9421 I have not been following Norwegian Black metal since 2006
Because he looks like a hipster now? Lol total respect nonetheless!
Stigma because of the glasses? Lol I swear nobody knows what a hipster is anymore
Jonathan Davis twin
shit, good thing you didn't have Blayne interview him; Ihsan might hold one or two views contrary to his and Blayne would flail himself into oblivion.
Norwegian Jonathan Davis
gg getting his name wrong in the first few seconds... sheesh
actually, Daniel got it Right.
Benjamin Adler I was relieved when he did. It always bugs me so much when I hear an interviewer pronounce it phonetically
Pretty sure he nailed it bro
There’s no ‘sh’ in there. Ih-sahn. Ee-saan. Where’s phonetic font when you need it?
Matt Heafy, what a dweeb.
Literally hasn't done anything good since Emperor. The artsy fartsy solo stuff is horrible. Yawn.
