Sir, you’re not using the vitamin correctly , the vitamix is too powerful to be blending for that long because the blades spin so fast it will melt the ingredients. Plus there’s a tamper that comes with the vitamix that you can use while you blend it, you don’t need to stop and take off the lid. With a little practise the protein ice cream literally takes 30 seconds to make in the vitamix. I can take a video and show you if you’re really interested.
For the Vitamix use the tamper! And make a bigger batch! Also consider spending extra money on the 32oz container to be able to make small batches of ice cream like this. I have had the same Vitamix for six years and it was definitely worth it.
Yes, you have to scrape down sides of Vita mix, but usually just 1x. Mine comes perfect. 1/2-3/4 c almond milk, 10-12 frozen strawberries, 2 scoops protein powder, 1/8 teaspoon guar gum. Delicious, perfect in Vita Mix.
If you want the pudding consistency of the ninja blender with the vitamix, do not go past number 5 on the dial. Vitamix is a way more powerful machine and will turn ice into snow instantly.
With that Vitamix specific 64 ounce container, you need to put in a lot more material, for it to work properly, they do make smaller containers for smaller batches if you want.
Yeah different blenders work differently so yes the ninja did what they wanted because they used it the way the ninja was supposed to be used but if they would actually use the vitamix how it was supposed to be used it would have worked great and they would have done it faster and would not have had to turn the vitamix off, use the tamper and don't start the blender on high speed.
One of the few times I disagree with the doc on this one. Use the vitamix correctly and it wipes the floor with anything else for making ice creams, shakes, smoothies and even hot soups. The ninja is great for the price, Gregs skills and recipes are designed around it, and it does a reasonable job, but it's cheap for a reason, and it's no vitamix.
I just purchased the Ninja from Costco. It was 80 dollars compared to 500 for the Vitamix. Keep in mind I have owned the vitamix for 3 years and was never happy with the performance. Ninja was amazing and if it breaks down I can still buy 5 more for the price of the Vitamix excluding the one I just purchased so 6 in total. It did a fantastic job in blending the frozen fruit!!!
the vitamix is still better. one you have to use the tamper to push the ingredients down, two you have to put the vitamix to the 1 on the dial and start then ramp it up. If you know how to run it right it will work properly. Also when you tamp it it takes like 40 seconds to get done on the vitamix not 5 minutes, because it creates heat so you can cook soup that is why it comes with a tamper.
2 different machines: Ninja has multi-blades which is good for larger chunks of ice and frozen fruits. Vitamix has a higher speed which can liquify everything down to flax seeds which the Ninja cannot.
Ok I owned the ninja for nearly a year and switched to Vitamix. Vitamix is WAY better. You don't need to stop the Vitamix, let it blend continuously and use the temper while it’s blending. It’ll make that ice cream in a minute or less. You’ve actually got to learn how to use the machine. It’s clear from watching that your gf had very limited experience with it.
You have to take a Blender Course to use it appropriately. Lol. For that price, it should be able to blend perfectly without effort and teach you quantum physics
@@Toobroke4gold It's not that hard to use. Besides, it only seems complicated because most people only use their blenders for basic drinks and mixes. But once you start using performance blenders, you start making things you normally wouldn't even think of in a regular blender, such as making "ice cream". But I guarantee no matter what blender you use if you attempt to make ice cream, you are going to have to put in some work. As for the price, well, I paid about $500 for my Vitamix, 8 YEAR AGO. And you can pick up a refurbished Vitamix for $270 and it still comes with a full 3 year warranty.
@@tkdguy5494 Fair enough, I personally don't see the benefit of paying that much for a Blender. However, I can see the difference in quality, just not a 3 times the price difference.
Dr. Greg... You seem to be *Eric Kanevsky-ing* that Vitamix blender... 🤔 i.e. Going full-on-overboard, with no finesse, thinking you'll get the same results as a lesser machine. Instead, take your time and learn how to use the equipment properly, and with less force you should be able to get better, faster results.
To be fair, you were not using the Vitamix correctly. You have to have the correct ratio of frozen ingredients to liquid, and you have to use the tamper to push the ingredients toward the blades. It should take less than a minute, and the ice cream will make four mounds and not fall out when turned upside down.

Funniest video of two people who can’t use the Vitamix nor the ninja properly. I make ice cream in mine in 45 seconds, sorbet in 50, smoothie in 60 seconds and so does everyone else on the internet including the demonstrations in store. You didn’t do justice to the Ninja either. I can suggest that you: A) put the items in proper order, B) practise using the tamper on the Vitamix C) your ice is mammoth size, there is no way the vitamix wouldn’t have obliterated it. Did you use those big cubes made for whiskey drinks? When I put ice in mine, it’s dissolved into water at 70 seconds. At 5 minutes, that should have been a steaming hot soup. C) don’t base the time on when the ninja is ready, base it on when the Vitamix is ready. Haven’t you seen other side by sides? And as for her scraping it down, she barely touched the sides versus you having to dig down deep deep into your Ninja. Hers was already past ready at that time. Vitamix kills ninja 100% of the time and has a much better consistency. No, no one’s daddy. You only PROOFED that Vitamix was already melted by the time the Ninja finally finally was ready -more than 5 minutes you said. Your Ninja took forever! You didn’t save anyone money.💥 Boom No one else is fooled just because you yelled and waved your arms.
Oh, the Vitamix blows the Ninja out of the water. The fact that they’re made in Ohio, the state I mostly associate with top notch athletic programs, strength, and to an extent bodybuilding (second to California), is a happy bonus.
That specific Ninja blender he's using makes superior ice cream, I know because like 10yrs ago I would use my roommates( the same) Ninja, to make frozen banana ice cream almost everyday and, I've not been able to duplicate that consistency; I think it's because of the multiple blades in the Ninjas.

Hmm I think he put xantham gum/guar gum in the ninja that’s why it came out so thick, there is no way the difference is that drastic when the only variable changed is the blender
2:34 thats bc you got the food processor as opposed to the "blender" model. The one you should be using for smoothies has a taper to it which does make a big difference. It also has a lot more power, I dunno if you were accounting for that when you chose the power settings, but if you blend that same thing with twice the power obviously its gonna become mush.
Dude the vitamix is a much higher speed blender and that's why it blended up in the more liquid There's no comparison . Anybody that knows anything about blunders would know that the vitamix is a much better blender. The other blender is a good blender for the money
Yeah need to read the directions on the vitamix. It makes hot soup at top speed not ice cream. There are ice cream recipes in the manual that comes with it. This was not a fair comparison. Love ya Greg
Try using that Vitamix blender correctly using the plunger. Also compare the two blenders using raspberries. The Ninja doesn't blend down the raspberry seeds at all.
The Vitamix is so powerful that by blending for so long the mere heat from the friction turned what should have been an ice cream into a smoothie. It gets so hot that you can actually prepare soups that come out piping hot, ready to serve, with it. As others pointed out in the comments, you actually did not use a good ice cream protocol with the Vitamix, trying to blend identically between the two with regards to time and using only max speed 🤷🏻♂️
I have two Ninjas myself....they are the best because they have the three blades that spiral up. It works the best because of the blades that go from the bottom to the top! That way no substance will get away from the spinning blades! It's simple!
It’s quite obvious you don’t know how to use a vitamix blender properly. There’s a reason why Whole Foods, Dairy Queen, Burger King, smoothie king and hundreds of other brands use Vitamix blenders.
Ummm... I”d rather save $400-500 and just buy the $15 replacement warranty on the remote chance I need it. I’m no Chef Ramsey but know my way around a kitchen and know full damn well that a Vitamix is just outright overkill for 99.9 percent of recipes.
Bad demo. Use the Vitamix properly and it beats a Ninja at all tasks. The Vitamix is designed to heat liquids if you run it for a prolonged period. If you follow the actual instructions, you get ice cream in seconds with the vitamix. This demo would be like saying a bowflex beats a barbell because a barbell doesn't work for seated chest press. Also, the people saying they traded in their Vitamix for a Ninja. Bullshit you did. You never owned a Vitamix. Nobody trades that in for a Ninja. That would be like trading in a set of Wüsthof knives for a set of Walmart brand knives.
Greg, I’m disappointed. She’s not using the damn tamper which is the major patent of the vitamix!!!! I make an icecream in less than a minute, come on...
Greg c’mon clearly Ally had zero experience with the Vitamix. She honestly looked like she was using it for the first time. This is how it’s done: m.ruclips.net/video/a2P1KOhrXuo/видео.html
You can't do single serving in the wide 64oz container... Order the 48oz with the narrow bottom.... It's a user malfunction unfortunately... Next time a bit more research...
Greg Doucette Actually, there is some truth to this. You can actually make soups and scrambled eggs in the Vitamix because of the heat generated. Forgot about that. Give it another try! Some instructions found on another site: Start with liquids and top with frozen strawberries and ice (think you did it this way.) Using the variable speed section, start on 1 until the solids have been pulverized then slowly rotate to 10 while using the tamper to push the ingredients into the blades; blend for 30-60 seconds until mounds form.

My ninja is 1500 watts. Next try
Thank you Dr. Daddy Greg, father of modern nutrition science.
Greg Hanma at this point, no doubts!
I have two Ninjas myself....they are the best because they have the three blades that spiral up.
It works the best because of the blades that go from the bottom to the top!
That way no substance will get away from the spinning blades!
It's simple!
Exactly
After closer examination of my birth certificate, it APPEARS he's not my long lost dad. Maury is.
This going to be the best recipe for summer in Thailand, I might eat them later after lifting weight
It’s quite obvious you don’t know how to use a vitamix blender properly. There’s a reason why Whole Foods, Dairy Queen, Burger King, smoothie king and hundreds of other brands use Vitamix blenders.
4:17 when she says she's pregnant
I have both the vitamix and the ninja and can undoubtedly say the ninja is crap compared to the vitamix, not even close lol
Yet it won. And is ur ninja a good ninja they make 5 kinds. Mine is 1500 watts!!!
@@gregdoucette the BL770?
Ummm... I”d rather save $400-500 and just buy the $15 replacement warranty on the remote chance I need it. I’m no Chef Ramsey but know
my way around a kitchen and know full damn well that a Vitamix is just outright overkill for 99.9 percent of recipes.
I tried after and it’s not as good. More work less good
Greg c’mon clearly Ally had zero experience with the Vitamix.
The vitamix blade melted the ingredients because it’s much more powerful
Ninja is 1500 watts guys
Greg Doucette Actually, there is some truth to this. You can actually make soups and scrambled eggs in the Vitamix because of the heat generated. Forgot about that.
Give it another try!
Some instructions found on another site:
Start with liquids and top with frozen strawberries and ice (think you did it this way.)
Using the variable speed section, start on 1 until the solids have been pulverized then slowly rotate to 10 while using the tamper to push the ingredients into the blades; blend for 30-60 seconds until mounds form.
You are.. you’re my daddy.. you’re all our daddies now
You convinced me to buy a ninja blender
Shit this guy is my father. Who would have thought my doctor, lawyer, chef, and phycologist was my long lost father.
Daddy D making anobolic shakes as a couple you guys a comical
I’m sorry if this sounds rude but you are the muscular version of Gilbert Gottfried have an amazing day. I can’t wait to make this ice cream
Greg doucette is my favourite doctor lawyer daddy personal trainer
Damn, he's a lawyer, doctor and father. Am I missing anything? Oh yeah a chef too.
You didn't use the vitamix properly, just watch one of the hundreds of tutorials there are online, you can make the ice cream in a few seconds.
I did. My gf did not blend slow. I triend one myself after same shit
He's a doctor. Pretty sure he knows how to use a fucking blender.
My Vitamix SUCKS! I tried Many brands and the Ninja is the best. My Vitamix even jammed and broke from frozen strawberries, I Know some are Vitamix crazy!! LOL like Apple type passion, but sorry Vitamix is a shitty performing blender and poorly designed and sized jars.. Just plain sucks.
Go try a Ninja and report back!
@@stevengamble1550 You are a liar who never actually owned a vitamix
@@v5red ?? I am the MOST Honest person you'll ever know period.
and use my Pro750 Every Single day!
I just used it 10 minutes ago. Why would you make such a "Blind" statement ?
Tell me what you want to know about it? or the comparisons.. I made.
..and tell me why Vitamix owners are so much like Apple users - if it aint Apple it's crap, lol, and same with VitaMix what are you all sniffing to like this machine so much.
I just yesterday replaced the 32oz container after 5 months of use, because it won't spin the blades if anything frozen is in it. Berries etc.. (Gear stripped) Poorly designed. Teeth barely grab the gear ughh $195.00 CAD to get a new one but I'll see if the customer service people there will help me.
not usually helpful.
