Amazing take of mendenez he is truly a tragic character while also being a bad person RIP. Kamar de los Reyes
Brotha no just no😂😂😂
Wait the voice actor for mendenez passed alway?

Rest in peace Kamar de los Reyes. You've made so many childhoods better. You will always be our Raúl Menéndez, hopefully you've reunited with your family and Josefina ❤️...
I actually saved Mason first try. Not because I felt something was off, but because 9 year old me was a lousy shot lol
Must have been crazy hearing Alex say “turns out you’re a lousy shot”
What was your reaction at the end? You must’ve been a very excited kid at the sight of that haha
SKILL ISSUE
The good skills issue 😂
“Your life will be consumed by absolute loss, only then will you understand what you’ve done to me. “
Menemdez survives a bullet to the eye/head, a grenade seconds after, then he survives an army simply fuelled by the rage for the safety of his sister just to then survive another grenade and to add salt to the wounds to get the good ending you must capture Menendez instead of killing him, he really is immortal
It's called "plot armor", and he is aware of that plot armor. I can't tell who is worse, Menendez or Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3.
The best part of saving mason is it isn’t just there because we know it’s mason. It’s possible woods is skeptical from Hudson’s communication, the CIA file, and dragoviches interrogation.
"He even has people in the CIA"

On subsequent playthroughs, it's kinda hard to not be very skeptical, they're not exactly hiding the sighs, but it's still so counter-intuitive when you have Mason in crosshairs and can actually choose where to shoot, that I don't blame anyone for doing it their first time. No CoD game before or after had this level of non-linearity
Kravchenko, not Dragovich
Dude, I'm kinda speechless on how good this video was from a channel your size. I played the BO2 campaign as a kid and to me it was just shooting people with a story in the background but being older now and watching this with your in depth analysis gave me a larger appreciation for this game. The campaign mostly stuck with me this whole time due to the scale and gameplay but I always preferred the MW campaigns since they felt more like real war to me. Treyarch's first two entries in the BO series are nothing to sleep on though
Thanks man! Yeah when the games came out we were just too young to appreciate some of the finer details, and it's been a blast looking back.
No it's not and the BO campaign are not bad
@@Nooneishereonlyme He said it's the villains that were mediocre. Not the campaign in and of itself.
People say Makarov, Shepherd, Zachev are the best villains? Nah Raul Fucking Menendez. All the fucking way.
HE WAS THE TRULY BROKEN VILLAN
Honestly, if Menendez actually started his youtube channel irl. He would end up on SO many commentary channels with titles like "The disturbing truth about Xx_CordisDie_xX69".
You know SunnyV2 would be hopping on that immediately
Thumbnail saying "Terrorist Organisation" in a bold font, stylised Menendez face
I think Menendez would like to fool them. To be one step ahead.
you removed the entire political background behind the whole thing and made it completely personal. Yes that is a big part of it but remember the factory owner who first scarred Josifina was American and the dictator they suffered under was US-backed, then a US-backed Noriega captured him. The countries he rallies are all ones affected by American imperialism.
That's fair. If I ever went back to COD videos I would acknowledge the political aspect more, as I'm more aware of/comfortable with these topics now than I was 2 years ago. COD's politics aren't super deep but I appreciate Treyarch for giving so much dimension to a character who is a villain because of US imperialism. BO2 is a story about revenge first and foremost but the political dimension is something I would look at if I ever redid this video. Thanks for the comment.
BO3 it was "Train go boom" but back in my days we had "sister go boom"
Bo3 as a game is 10 times better
@@AnnBoyeI liked the weapons and the tech and world building, but the story? Not so much. Although it was unique.
@@AnnBoyeyeah your off sum rocks
@@خلال-م8د bo3 the best game ever bo2 not even peak
@@AnnBoye better why? bc you like skyjumping and wallriding js go play titanfall lmao even the campaign made no sense
how does this video barely got views omg it's so good
Huh, this video is getting recommended to people 2 years later? Love the algorithm sometimes. Glad you liked it!
Another great video from the goat for real. I've only played the campaign once at release and I remember being so lost in the plot. It's funny to see that he had 2 billion followers, more than the entire population of China, yet he never made a Twitch channel. Absolute waste of his time, he could've gotten so many Twitch prime memberships. Sadge.
My man coulda been the Ludwig of his time
He is already pretty rich through smuggling weapons so it wouldnt matter 🤷♂️
A neat little detail that you didn't mention is that during the mission where you're in Afghanistan, if you manage to not kill kravchenko, he'll tell you Menendez: "Even has friends within the C.I.A." implying he started to deal within the governments ranks Subtly long before the events of BO2. Which also ends up correlating with the twist where you have the choice of shooting Mason or sparing his life; I also believe he's mentioned only once in BO3, but it doesn't provide much information other that he's dead. And that because of the attacks during the finale of BO2, the world created a new defense systems.
That's also cool because it's basically a reward for sparing Kravchenko in the form of a hint - the quote will echo when you're about to shoot Mason, basically warning you "Don't listen to Hudson, Menendez has compromised him." It's a neat full circle moment where Mason can potentially save his own life by saving someone else's (and resisting the temptation of revenge).
@Kazmord Precisely why Menendez character is so threatening and frightening. He has the charm and resources as you said to make stuff happen, a shame they haven't touched his story again or created a character with the same caliber.
There's also the CIA intel you can gather in the drug lab during the mission where you search Menendez's compound.
This is a pleasant reccomendation
Awesome video, lad - totally agree on everything. I hope we get more of him next year. He was the best villain in any COD game. Right after Jonathan Irons
Ohh I love Irons. He was a really unique antagonist. I don't see much talk about him. Has this creator made a video about him as well?
"To those you serve, your life means NOTHING!!"
the sad thing is, Menendez was right.
I love how even though Menendez’s story is about revenge, he isn’t just a “haha revenge go brr” villain, he was determined to spend so much time and energy and money to make his revenge come to fruition. I’m so glad I was recommended this video, it was very well made
I just finished the game and holy sh*t, he is genuinely one of the most terrifying and brutal villains in the franchise, possibly in all of media
Menendez is a man who is too angry to die, and I was all there for it back then.
You know what? No. I'm here for it *now* too!
I think I'm gonna replay BO2 soon now. Thanks for this.
14:31
I did. When I was younger I shot Mason in the wiener but I had no clue lol. I almost cried ngl.
Ral Menendez makes you hate his ass and makes you want to torture him. Which is why you actually love his character because that is what a great villain is supposed to be.
The only Villain in COD you could empathize with, especially when you yourself are a brother and understand his actions through it.
One thing to give dragovich is that he laughed as mason was strangling him at the end of bo1 😂
Nice work man. This game rocked my socks back in the day.
I saved mason first try lmao, I just kinda shot him without listening to hudson to get him in the head and got a trophy on my ps3 right after called "Family Reunion" no idea what it was until that cutscene with old Alex
I forgot he died last year.. rip 🥺
I always thought that the whole bo1 campaign was superior to bo2 and it still is but I've found more appreciation for menendez and think that this is the best villain the black ops series has seen
This is why Vladimir Makarov never would turn on Menendez. Because he has a fiery temper when betrayal occurs against him. In the gta verse, Makarov was suppressed of his emotions when he senses a traitor in his mist. Like Joseph Allen. Only because Shepherd leaked the info of a traitor in his circle. Menendez discovers a traitor, he’s emotional and punishes the traitor severely. Like no mercy. Years later, Julian Kostov knew that Farid was a CIA agent, told Menendez about a double agent within his inner circle, and when Farid decided to shoot Harper in the head, as a reward, Kostov shot Farid in the head as he was a loose end to him and to Menendez he discovered him to be a CIA agent. Truly double murder in his presence. It’s why people felt bad when Harper was shot and when Farid was killed, no one cared for him. Showing what the audience shock matters to? The victim or the perpetrator.
This video is actually so good. I expected it to have 10 times as many views! Honestly felt like I needed to add a like since it stood out to me from the other analysis videos.
Apart from that, I do very much agree. Raul Menendez is one of the best villains I've ever seen. And the BO2 campaign overall is nothing less than a masterpiece.
Handsome Jack clears, I’m sorry
it would have been perfect if americans knew how to SPEAK PROPER SPANISH, FOR GOD'S SAKE "bueno fortuna"????? did he mean "Buena Suerte"??? cause that doesn't translate to good karma, and the list goes on, like cubans speaking portuguese at the first mission, besides that yeah, pretty good fcking villain
I think what would have made black ops a complete and holy trilogy would be keeping the past missions from black ops 2 as the whole story mode stretching more into the past and Menendez story along with a scene or more screentime with his sister and who he really was. Then have future missions as the black ops 3 campaign with some flashback missions (also choosing to kill or not kill Mason in black ops 2 would effect BO3)
Raul menendez - L3+R3
Menendez was already hard. Take away something he loves and he's unstoppable. Just found out Keaton played Hudson
I know this would have never came out but when bo2 first came out I thought they should have made a zombies map similar to five where you play has Menendez against the zombies like half way though to have enough time for him to the bad guy but then bam zombies like a introduction similar to five but with Menendez flare
6:46 second Best scene in the entire game, after literally sliding wit the kap40
I prefer Markov but menendez is still a great villain.
Miss translation Menéndez states (the Americans know nothing about the reality maybe we should demonstrate)
That youtube cordis die thumbnail was so fucking funny. Great channel, subbing.
Great video man, the quality is really very high for a channel of your size. You analyzed one of the games that I played and loved most in my childhood very well. I hope you can make your way! keep it up
Raul Menendez is one of the greatest villains of all time in any media!
I'm mad they made killing mason canon
He could 100% be alive. Dead or alive Mason has zero impact on any time except 2025
Say what you want about Menendez but that mf can rock a suit hella clean like Makarov.
That intro is hard asf
3:58 that was hilarious 😂
8:54 That's how pissed off he was too, he was willing to kill Hudson as well
Let's goooooo
Maturing is realising Menendez was not the bad guy.
What haha?? Yeah the Americans were dirty and wrong but have you heard of proportional response? Making a global civil war and killing millions in return for a family member dying. Makes no sense as a justification
He is like pain from Naruto if he was good
Best cod games are : bo1 bo2 world at war
Basically Treyarch at its best
Menendez was genuinly scary, he was smart, ruthless and confident.
You knew he truely wasn't scared of you in the slightest, he wasn't faking it like other COD villans.
By the end of the game, you really, really want to kill him. But you lose if you do, it's so frustrating but you understand why.
I'm gonna play BO2 again.
Treyarch had no business writing this gem, but they cooked. They cooked so well that Gordon Ramsey in comparison is a fast food 2 day cook.
This video is amazing. I love the America sucks joke on YT. Cordis Die with 2.1 billion subscribers, probably made a video titled how I converted mr beast to a cult.
Man does the algorithm cook some times
RIP Kamar De Los Reyes
The fact that that everything is still Canon for black ops 6 is awesome. They confirmed Mason actually died here too and the ending were he lives is an alternative timeline. I love Mason he his a huge part of my childhood and him surviving is the best ending of course. But I think it’s a great story choice that he actually dies as the weight of it on Woods while he’s raising Mason will be a great plot point I hope they flush out in the story But I feel like they are just trying to pull the wool over our eyes. I also hope we get Menedez again as well even if it’s just a cameo it would be a hugely missed opportunity if we didn’t get a scene with whoever“the mole” is talking to him
Eh, I may lack taste in characters, but I think they made this guy too cool for his own good.
Reznov was cool too, very cool actually, but I don't see him going "you don't want to see my dark side, you don't want me seeing red" he is just a russian dude at the end of it.
I didn't like the guy the moment I saw his smug confident sass, amazing voice actor, but they gave him too much importance. He gets caught, he escapes, it's like he is a weekly villain.
“So we are the same David, shaped by that which we have lost…”
I don’t think I will ever get that line/cutscene out of my head, infamous
14:06 recently it has been confirmed that Alex Mason has been KIA by the hands of woods. Just wanted to put that out there
Enendez was right, farid's life is worth nothing.
Incredible video bro. Very well made and edited!
Mason only dies if you shoot him in the head. I think the canon ending is the one where he survives
I think Menéndez wanted to make Woods suffer for what he did to his sister. Took his legs and his best friend, for 30yrs
In one the ending he goes to woods stabs him to death then offs himself it not think he did want woods to suffer
3:57
Wow I just realized that radio dude was Menendez
Ding ding. You got a new subscriber
8:51 woods trick shot Mendez’s sister
do rorke next plz
Bro ghosts pales in comparison to BO2
He's ass, barely has any screen time and extremely generic
@@ChukedIIIL take… ghosts story was good. Multiplayer not so much..
@@TheeWolfiee1 replay Ghosts, you will realize how incoherent and botched and pointless the story is
This seriously needs more views
most call of duties have a sense of victory at the end except for black ops 2 and on a special note Ghost (where you actually didn't win)
I'm also thinking about CoD 4, at the end everything that happened was covered up so basically many of our boys (like Gaz) just died for nothing
@@Nate_M_PCMRCOD 4 is very bittersweet. All of the original MW games end on what I would call a satisfying downer. MW3’s in particular is cathartic but depressing when you realise what it took to get to that point. No one but Price left, and Makarov swaying in the air like a string puppet. It’s haunting.
Brilliant vid.
This guy I swear 😅😅😅
Great video bro!
you met menendez on Nicaragua not angola
It is in Angola, Nicaragua is where Woods kills his sister by accident
I know this is random, but you think they should bring back Joseph Bowman?
Like... from the dead?
No he ain’t
I heavily disagree with the first 30 seconds. Menendez is smug because he is fully aware of the THICK PLOT ARMOR protecting him. Making him essentially omnipresent was also a mistake. And the WORST thing overall with the Black Ops series is that they DERAILED the setting. The COLD WAR setting. BO2 took us out of the Cold War and put us into a HIGHLY unrealistic "near future" setting.
Black Ops 2 also makes it clear that the Story Arc that the first game was preparing was also abandoned.
@@NostalgicGamerRickOShay do you even know what your talking about? The story literally gets wrapped up in bo2. If u want to complain about story go back to bo3
