    Final Destination Movie Description:
Alex Browning (Devon Sawa), is embarking on a trip to Paris. Alex experiences a premonition -- he sees the plane explode moments after leaving the ground. Alex insists that everyone get off the plane and 7 people including Alex, are forced to disembark. All watch as the plane actually explodes in a fireball. He and the other survivors have briefly cheated death, but will not be able to evade their fate for very long. One by one, these fugitives from fate fall victim to the grim reaper.
Final Destination is a 2000 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wong, with a screenplay written by Wong, Glen Morgan, and Jeffrey Reddick, based on a story by Reddick. It is the first installment in the Final Destination film series and stars Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, and Tony Todd. Sawa portrays a teenager who cheats death after having a premonition of a catastrophic plane explosion. He and several of his classmates leave the plane before the explosion occurs, but Death later takes the lives of those who were meant to die on the plane.
The film began as a spec script written by Reddick for an episode of The X-Files in order for Reddick to get a TV agent. A colleague at New Line Cinema persuaded Reddick to write it as a feature-length film. Later, Wong and Morgan, The X-Files writing partners, became interested in the script and agreed to rewrite and direct the film, marking Wong's film directing debut. Filming took place in New York City and Vancouver, with additional scenes filmed in Toronto and San Francisco. It was released on March 17, 2000, and became a financial success, making $10 million on its opening weekend.
The film received negative reviews from critics. While it was praised for "generating a respectable amount of suspense", "playful and energized enough to keep an audience guessing", "an unexpectedly alert teen-scream disaster chiller", and Sawa's performance, it was criticized as "dramatically flat" and "aimed at the teen dating crowd". It received the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film and Best Performance by a Younger Actor for Sawa's performance. The film's success spawned a media franchise, encompassing four additional installments, as well as a series of novels and comic books. The first sequel, Final Destination 2, was released on January 31, 2003.

It’s wrong for people to criticize you about not recognizing or mentioning familiarity with actors/actresses. I tend to know more about the cast in films myself, yet I don’t blast reactors I watch based on their commentary regarding them. I know Devon Sawa, Ali Larter and Kerr Smith outside of FD. Agent Weine played by Daniel Roebuck, he was the Medevac Commanding Officer in We Were Soldiers which you previously reacted to.
Agent Schreck played by Roger Guenveur Smith was Rudy in Malcolm X, which you use the “brother starving” meme from in your uploads. So I assume you’ve seen that at some point prior. I’m not going to break your balls over such things. It’s dumb. These people are way past the point of needing to touching grass. You don’t deserve such baseless nonsense leveled for your work.

The second movie's opening scene is absolutely epic and iconic in the true meaning of the word. That scene will never be forgotten as it has traumatized an entire generation. Tony Todd's mortician character is never confirmed to be death or not. A very heavily speculated character, some theorize he is Death giving false hope to the victims, and others say he may be a guardian angel genuinely trying to beat death but is always one step behind.

    • @ulfberht4431
      @ulfberht4431 2 месяца назад

Sadly though, the producers have already confirmed that the Mortician, also named William Bludworth, is not Death himself. What I think is that Bludworth is either an ally/agent of Death (perhaps giving survivors fake ways to cheat death in exchange for his life to be spared) or he is one of, if not THE, only person who has ever cheated death for so many years and has gotten away with it.
All in all, he’s not Death, but he certainly has a layer of mystery to his motives.

Btw the song that keeps playing in this film is by John Denver, who died in a plane crash. Also the movie is based off a planned episode for X-Files that ended up getting canned but then turned into this movie, hence the whole detectives being present in this movie and the suspicious activity of Alex. Also that episode (and this movie's) plane crash is based off a real crash, TWA 800 which blew up over New York back in the 90s due to faulty wiring, killing everyone onboard. Some of the footage from the search and rescue team on the water is shown in this movie as part of the "searching" shown on the TV.

    Hey Mell
I don't know if it was said in the comments before me, but one of the brilliant ideas of the film is that each death is in reality announced, by little "easter eggs" if we can saying it like this:
    Todd dies by hanging.
When Alex is on the plane, and the two girls ask him if he can change seats, Todd sends him signs so that Alex refuses, simulating a strangulation.
    Billy dies decapitated
When Billy ("Stifler" Seann William Scott") is in the airport, watching the plane fly away without them through the window, the reflection of the plane cuts into his head.
Final Destination was really a crush when I was young.
Renewing the "slasher movie" with a new bogeyman... The best known, the scariest, the most realistic... And the most merciless: Death itself

To Drowning: as a child i drowned once and was dead for 5min. All i remember is after hitting the water it was deeper as expected 😅 and i took a big breath out of shock. I felt my lungs filling with water, saw the joints of the tiles moving up and then it went dark. In that process an overwhelming warmth embraced me, I felt safe and comfortable, like i was home and in the last moment there was a growing light and cut, out, nothing! The next thing I remember is waking up in the Pool Area surrounded by Strangers...
I don't actually believe in anything like that, but it felt like I was back in the womb, about to be born again.., i don't know sounds crazy but I will recognize this Gift to be alive and breathing!

I will admit that this film has some dumb decisions and some pretty goofy deaths. However, since I was little, this and the others stuck with me because it had me paranoid about my surroundings. It's a great premise since anything can technically kill our characters at any time. They do go extra with the more complicated or large-scale death scenes, but technically we could go any minute from something as simple as choking on food, falling down the stairs, getting in a car accident, etc. The fact that these movies remind me of that makes them way more terrifying than other horror movies like slasher or monster flicks.
Also, at the very least, I'd say check out 2. Opinions on the others from my understanding are mixed, but 2's definitely better and worth it for the opening alone.

This was one of my favorite concepts of any franchise in the 2000s.
Death itself as the protagonist had me very curious.
The actors they casted in this early film, the twists and turns, who was gonna survive or have the craziest death.
From Tony Todd casted as the pallbearer to the original score by the late, great Shirley Walker was indeed awesome.
Ever since this first installment, a popular saying has come out of the culture about real, potentially dangerous situations occurring:
    "THAT'S SOME FINAL DESTINATION-TYPE S***!!!!".
If we think bad things are going to happen and they don't, these are the words that you'll usually hear and still hear today.
I've only seen the first 3 films and not 4-6.
There are 2 different series of literature (novels & comics) and i read the comic series, Final Destination:Spring Break from 2007.
One true thing to take away from this is that fate is unavoidable and you just gotta learn to accept it.
That is always the realest to deal with.

I always enjoyed this one. Some of the sequels are okay but I love how they connect them.
I love how this movie used the death omens and upon rewatch you notice a lot of them. Like here, when they look down through the crack when boarding the plane, the car below has '666' on it. The sign at the end when it falls looks like '180' the same as the number on the plane, and the sign on the door of the plane 'sortie' means 'exit' which eludes to the character's end. I love how they're scattered throughout the movie.

You'll never look at certain things the same after watching these movies. Everything's a death waiting to happen. A particular death in part 2 still has a chokehold on people.
