"Not our song, but a pretty good one to send you off to." That has to be the biggest understatement in this part of the Milky Way galaxy. Rock comes across poorly on TV. It's best live and loud, but if you turn this up, it's about as good as the medium allows. IMO the Who's best song's are among the best hard rock ever written (I guess Pete Townshend's songs).
You ever check out the video when they performed The 59 Sound on Letterman a few years back? You should and matter of fact, I'm going to soon as I hit send!
Pete Townshend is a musical genius. THE WHO IS THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER. SAW THE WHO 5 TIME'S AND MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING AND I FUCKING LOVE IT. These guys did a great job with it.
I love the Who i grew up listening to them, but i love these guys too and this is an awesome cover of one of my favourite Who songs .Brian Fallon is a highly underrated singer imo !
Yeah they are amazing live, I first discovered them in 2009 when they supported Springsteen at Hyde Park they were superb seen them 3 times since great.
bunch of hack poseurs , insult to punk calling themselves as punk and not a good "pop -country, folk cover band " but then again its jersey . pretty sure they think of themselves as being an equal to the misfits or better yet, one new yorks real punk rock bands " cro-mags" glen danzig lost punk cred when he got his ass Knocked the f- out years back.
Should b a requirement for all bands to submit their Babo OReily, GA passed the test! Always wait for the final jam to judge, might mosh afterall, see Pearl Jam version for more. Then maybe grateful dead '92, teenage wasteland...
I wonder in What Key they're playing.... Is it G? because Alex plays the whole riff (and he does that quite good, because the original is played on a ... mellotron (?) I guess) in G5/C#* on 10th Fret. Am I right? *the C# here because It looks like he taps down the E-Side on 10th fret with his thumb. see 1:23 for an example ..
You don't have one? Remedy this ASAP. I didn't like them but I had a Jazzmaster that wouldn't work for more than two weeks. I got to swap it out and I tried my Squier Vintage Mod Telecaster Custom. It is my favourite guitar now, playable, beautiful to listen to and look at and rugged. Go forth and buy a tele.
See this is how you do a cover. Put your own spin on it, but not completely changing it. Also Brian may be one of the only singers that can do roger daltrey some justice.
Ok admit it i'm 48 and i'm old. This is good but i don't get kicks out of this. Wait a minute ... Pete Townsend is 78 and still playin this !!! Goddamn ..
Says who needs a keyboard while the guitarist is playing the piece that is usually played by a violin not a keyboard. Hmmmm someone hasn't done their research
VERY FEW bands should be allowed anywhere near the chance to cover a Who track - these guys deserve the key to the whole goddam collection - Springsteen, Gaslight, WTF is it with you Jersey boys????
just came across these hacks , claiming / written up as "punk rock" not even a "pop punk" listing best they be known for what they are " pop country folk bar band "
I saw these guys at a place called Mr. Smalls outside of Pittsburgh in 2013. The band was great but the acoustics were horrible. I am still surprised that this band never took off like a runaway train to be honest.
Brian Fallon and the drummer are really the only essential members of the band. the other two honestly really drag this band down. dont get me wrong, i love their first two albums, but the instrumentation is just pretty lackluster sometimes.
i don't really know about this band. How long they've been around ? i just searched some baba o' really cover then i found mr big and pearl jam. They did really well. I guess this band doesn't come from the 80's or 90's. I can't enjoy what new bands and singers do from these days. So if I can compare this cover with PJ n mr big, all i can say is that this cover sounds pretty cool.
watchoutdab They have been around for a little while now. They have four albums out, a fifth one is coming out in august. It's punk-rock with a strong classic american rock influence (Bruce Springsteen, Social Distortion, Tom Petty, Pearl Jam..). It's nothing new, but still it's great heartfelt rock. The '59 Sound (2008) is still their best record I think.
Tyler Dennis No, That's subjective, not a fact, you like pearl jam's one, fine, go listen that cover, The original one destroys it anyway in my opinion.
mcintosh182 they're almost entirely Pearl Jam influenced. I can't answer concretely, although these guys are very aware of The Who, but im guessing that the fact that this song is a Pearl Jam staple of the last 20 years had something to do with the selection.
Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God...these guys aren't gods. They play badly and dress even worse. You should chose your idols more wisely Mikey. Nobody will care about these clowns in 10 years.
Well, I decidedly disagree with just about everything you say. If that's how you feel then I would suggest you don't watch anymore of their videos. It makes me sad that someone with such a critically small mind would have Frank Zappa as their avatar. :/
Listen to the FZ track 'Tinseltown Rebellion'...it pretty much sums up bands like this. Different location but same dummed down musical ethos. Frank was open minded but spoke his mind about shite music. Thanks for your advice...I definitely won't be watching anymore of their stuff. I decided they suck 20 seconds into their slaying of this Who classic.
justinwiggy I'll care!! And to me, their music means a lot. If you don't like their guitars that's ok, though. There's enough bands out there. We just have to stop thinking we're better than someone because we like different music.
I'm not real sure how ANYONE could not love this? I'll say it until the day I die, these guys are AWESOME, and Brian Fallon CAN DO NO WRONG!
Second only to Gruhak's version. Verrrrrrry good cover!
"Not our song, but a pretty good one to send you off to."
That has to be the biggest understatement in this part of the Milky Way galaxy.
Rock comes across poorly on TV. It's best live and loud, but if you turn this up, it's about as good as the medium allows.

You ever check out the video when they performed The 59 Sound on Letterman a few years back? You should and matter of fact, I'm going to soon as I hit send!
You are 100% correct
Pete Townshend is a musical genius. THE WHO IS THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER. SAW THE WHO 5 TIME'S AND MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING AND I FUCKING LOVE IT. These guys did a great job with it.
If any band could show the Who the respect they deserve it's the Gaslight Anthem. Seriously amazing.
Annie Knabb or Pearl Jam possibly?!!?!?!
I love the Who i grew up listening to them, but i love these guys too and this is an awesome cover of one of my favourite Who songs .Brian Fallon is a highly underrated singer imo !
These guys are legit. I would like to see them live.
+Alex Sepi They are amazing live!
Yeah they are amazing live, I first discovered them in 2009 when they supported Springsteen at Hyde Park they were superb seen them 3 times since great.
Best band ever, remember the name!!
bunch of hack poseurs , insult to punk calling themselves as punk and not a good "pop -country, folk cover band " but then again its jersey . pretty sure they think of themselves as being an equal to the misfits or better yet, one new yorks real punk rock bands " cro-mags" glen danzig lost punk cred when he got his ass Knocked the f- out years back.
The who
@@MrNatas2001 why did this get edited?-
A cover of my favourite band The Who, you guys ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brian's tele tone is out of this world
this is just amazing, I'm so glad there's still real talent out there
Discovered this last night, wow. So different from the original yet still similar.
Never heard of these guys before today. Good band, but the guy wearing a hoodie over a ball cap looks like an idiot. Must’ve been the style then?
Wait a second... I'm feeling something. Yes. It's the same thing I feel everytime I listen to them playing... I'm pretty sure it is love
My 2nd favourite NJ band behind the E Street Band The Gaslight Anthem are quality.
I’m pumped!! Seeing these guys for the first time in may!!!
Best cover I've ever heard!
Couldn't have found this cover at a more perfect time.
ruclips.net/video/UkHSmDxX1t4/видео.html
one word awesome!! the best band on the planet
I love this band!!!!!!!!!!!!!
saw them do this live when they were in the uk...awesome..
Pretty awesome! Nice little 2AM treat while burning the midnight oil working.
It`s pure Rock.Yes.
Amazing!
Hell yeah, Gaslight kicks ass!
Come back Gaslight Anthem!!! Love Brian's solo stuff too but still hope they get back together!
Great cover
They are close enough, with a new twist, good
I agree with you in this one but this cover would make Roger Daltrey very proud. You can also watch Mr. big's rendition to his song. Amazing!
li vedo stasera a Dublino! il mio gruppo preferito...questa si che e' musica! :)
piacciono anche a me ma dal vivo sono scandalosi, su. Li ho visti a LONDRA NEL 2014. Brian è stonatino e e non vanno a tempo, scordati...un disastro
This helps, a lot. Long live TGA
chills!!!!!!
Godlike...
I had no idea who these guys were, but that was a cover worthy of being compared to the original. Bravo.
HOLY SHIT This is great
Numbers cannot accurately describe the number of positive shits I would have flipped, had I been at this show in person. "Who needs a keyboard?"
What a fucking EPIC performance!!!!
So hot the drums
best song in history
I fucking love Brian Fallon
That crowd has no idea the greatness of what they are actually hearing!!
love this version. i'm not a fan of covers usually (especially Who covers),but The Gaslight do 'em proud! well done Fallon and co.
Fucking killed it. Love that that ended the show with The Who cover.
best regards from spain
Great ending
Who needs a keyboard? The Gaslight Anthem.
+on BLAST They could do with a violin too.
+on BLAST Confusingly, that bit actually is a guitar solo in the original...
nope, it's a mellotron : some kind of keyboard with magnetic tapes to record some patterns... In other words, the ancestor of Sampler
The guy at 2:01 had no idea what the lyrics are
can someone tell me how the crowd is not losing their shit right now?
Allow me. It sucks.
They don't know The Who.
Which crowd?
Dang!!!
Brian Fallon does great covers.
Crowd needs to wake up and join the show!
quality!
I guess 80% of the crowd has never even heard of the Who
Should b a requirement for all bands to submit their Babo OReily, GA passed the test! Always wait for the final jam to judge, might mosh afterall, see Pearl Jam version for more. Then maybe grateful dead '92, teenage wasteland...

*the C# here because It looks like he taps down the E-Side on 10th fret with his thumb.
see 1:23 for an example ..
Looks like you're right
The amount of clueless people that then are like... shiiiieat, this is awesome.
The Who should be a lot more well know by this generation
Killer cover. God damn
ARE THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM THE NEXT PEARL JAM?? :)
Go forth and buy a tele.
blooddy brilliant second behind roger daltry and i love the who
👍
Just like their heros Pearl Jam, they close with Baba!
Less talk more music
See this is how you do a cover. Put your own spin on it, but not completely changing it. Also Brian may be one of the only singers that can do roger daltrey some justice.
Ok admit it i'm 48 and i'm old. This is good but i don't get kicks out of this. Wait a minute ... Pete Townsend is 78 and still playin this !!! Goddamn ..
Holy fuck.
follow pearl jams lead and you cant go wrong..love it
Really? I don't see the issue with Benny and Alex. Two very talented musicians and writers.
Not bad these guys...
Says who needs a keyboard while the guitarist is playing the piece that is usually played by a violin not a keyboard. Hmmmm someone hasn't done their research
Saying Brian Fallon doesn't know music is like saying cats don't know hairballs.
C'mon it's a number five. Many guitar players use to label their guitars when playing live.
aren't these guys from new jersey?
VERY FEW bands should be allowed anywhere near the chance to cover a Who track - these guys deserve the key to the whole goddam collection - Springsteen, Gaslight, WTF is it with you Jersey boys????
just came across these hacks , claiming / written up as "punk rock" not even a "pop punk" listing best they be known for what they are " pop country folk bar band "
they did a great job, they made it their own. I hate when bands cover a song note from note.
guitars only. wow
Why is he wearin buz lightyear’s heid
This bass player REALLY needs to listen to the OX's lines on Baba O'Reilly. He wasn't even CLOSE.
beato te! se vuoi unirti al fan club italiano cerca su facebook il gruppo "The Jukebox Romeos", fondato da poco ma in crescita!!
Lmao half of the comments are fanboying and half of them are hating
not a bad cover - dropkick murphy's did a gutsier cover tho ....
It’s really not a bad cover at all.
Good band this guys; but nobody can do justice of the grandiose virtuosity of the WHO
I saw these guys at a place called Mr. Smalls outside of Pittsburgh in 2013. The band was great but the acoustics were horrible. I am still surprised that this band never took off like a runaway train to be honest.
Is that half of a swastika on Brian Fallon's guitar?
lol. I was just watching Sammy Hagar live from 1983 doing this Who song. Think I'll stick with Sammy.
Lol
This was the best cover of this song, until GWAR did it.
GWAR covered Baba O'Riley?!?
Umm you lot need a keyboard!
+FrikNoFrak This band is light years away from Pearl Jam. And PJ has a keyboard for this song.
i like the band, but i think that with a better drummer and bassit, their live performance would be pretty much better
i hope pete Townsend didnt saw that
@Sean Peleg.... I hope Pete Townshend didn't see your grammar.
Rosamilia should get arrested for this performance
Didn't the lead singer die from cancer?
there is no keyboard solo in Baba O'Riley....
Very disengaged crowd :/
What a disaster
fredmila the tattoos ruin it for me
they should find a better guitar player.
Brian Fallon and the drummer are really the only essential members of the band. the other two honestly really drag this band down. dont get me wrong, i love their first two albums, but the instrumentation is just pretty lackluster sometimes.

amateur night on Letterman
Put yer fckn hat back oan
Nice wrong chord at 1:50,lame.
Pearl Jam does it better, just my opinion though
ya, pearl jam's cover absolutely destroys this, this is ok, I guess and I might add, these guys only covered this because pearl jam did
Tyler Dennis No, That's subjective, not a fact, you like pearl jam's one, fine, go listen that cover, The original one destroys it anyway in my opinion.
That's a pretty ignorant comment. You might add they only covered it because Pearl Jame did? Enlighten us on how you know this
mcintosh182 they're almost entirely Pearl Jam influenced. I can't answer concretely, although these guys are very aware of The Who, but im guessing that the fact that this song is a Pearl Jam staple of the last 20 years had something to do with the selection.
Logan Bunn you might want to put your Pearl Jam bias aside, you sound like a moron
stop now. You have no fucking clue what you are talking about. Gaslight is not influenced or care what Pearl Jam has done.
Horrible. No wonder no one has ever heard of them.
Pretty poor. The 'don't cry' bit is painful and the guitar sounds 2nd rate. Who needs a keyboard? You do!
Blasphemy. Shut the hell up and go away.
Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God...these guys aren't gods. They play badly and dress even worse. You should chose your idols more wisely Mikey. Nobody will care about these clowns in 10 years.

The drummer's ok, that's about it. 🙁
