Hope you guys know how much both you and Barry(RIP) informed my knowledge of firearms and brought light to a dark cave of ignorance when I was a young man and onward.
My last time seeing Barry was him leaving moss pawn in his Ford Ranger, I was in a 93 Toyota truck and I pulled out behind him and we "raced" until the speed limit in our little trucks.
Great video, there are a lot of people that are clueless. This was less of a gun gripe and more of a "gun anatomy for dummies". Keep up the great work guys
My gramps was a WWII vet and he called them all clips because of the Garand. When I slip once in awhile and call magazines clips, I think of him. I miss him. He was the salt of the earth. I like your videos, keep them coming.
Good stuff as usual, guys! Keep these videos coming, because there are people out there who need to see them, and there are people like me who just love guns, and to see knowledgeable people speak the truth about them. You are providing a valuable service to the public with your videos, and I wanted you to know that I appreciate your continued efforts! Keep it going, guys!
+bigchunk1 well, its very easy. just take the reloading bullet magazine clip holder case, put it into the reloading bullet magazine clip case receptacle, then shooty the assault gun.
ERIC and BARRY, I have sat through all 61 gun gripes in the past several days. Thanks SO much for the information you guys are giving us. I especially liked one of the early ones where Barry put on a board all the different calibers. I never knew how many different ones there where and the difference between 9 and 9 X 18 , etc. Keep up the good work. PS how is the ammo situation in GA? Here in Central FL Its me and 3 others every morning at Walmartt to see if anything came in. Slim Pickings
I didn't learn much today, however a year or 2 ago I did learn a lot ( terminology, modern stances, etc ) by watching your videos along with Hickock's and would recommend anyone with a curiosity about guns watch either of said videos, as it's not scary and demonizing as the media and is an honest opinion.
EXCELLENT GUN GRIPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!a lot of good information, it is good to listen to good men with good common sense. Keep up the good work, like I have said before ya'll need a show on tv.
Im glad you do these videos. Ive been around guns all my life and hanging out at the local gun store you hear all kinds of terminology. I know some people may not even want to go into a gun store because they dont want to sound stupid. So they can watch these vids and get the answers. p.s. I dont think and Im sure you guys dont think they are stupid just ignorant as we all were at some time or another. I know my mother in-law is getting her ccw and it was funny hearing her talk about guns
lol not everyone knows what a trigger is. My ex girlfriend was with me at a gun shop (big mistake) and I was looking at a beautiful Colt 1911. Blacked out with white trim and inlay. I was gonna take her home and name her Sheila. Well my ex pointed at the trigger guard and asked what the "squeezy pull thingy was" Me and the guy behind the counter laughed so hard at that. I laughed myself out of the store and never got Sheila. I dumped her about .45 minutes later (see what i did there?)
Brian Reeves. That reminds me of the time one of my dad's friends asked me what kind of new truck my dad bought and I replied "a big green one". But I was only 13 at the time. But I darn sure knew what a trigger was by the age of 14!
Good thing you dumped her - she probably found someone willing to answer her questions and helped her learn. You obviously weren't going to be that guy.
That was pretty basic, but I learned something, I don't remember what it was that I learned, but it may pay off. Nothing you guys pointed out should stop anyone from coming into your store, even if they forgot that a drum was not a barrel, as it's attitude behind the counter that makes return customers and you guys both have a good teaching attitude. Thanks
Sorry I used to call mags clips when i was like 11 but it just didn't feel right so I self-learned not to call a mag a clip. I just learned what a clip was a few days ago.. I knew what they were I just didn't know they were specifically called clips.
Love the mention of the Marlin 25! My first and favorite firearm is a 1978 25 Glenfield that was given to me by my favorite uncle when I was 12 in 1997, I bet I've easily fired 300,000 rounds through that little rifle and, after having the bolt worked on once or twice and doing some trigger improvements it's still an absolute tack-driver. They cost nothing and are just AMAZING rimfire rifles. I don't know about the newer 25s, I assume they're great, too.
Back when 1911s came out a 7 round magazine is the Standard capacity, now it's 8 rounds and 10 round mags is the high capacity. Same with AR 15s. When it first came out a 20 round mag is the standard but it immediately changed to 30.
Berry, its been nice talking to u today over the phone from the lone star state. I wish u guys all success as thanks for all ur help and episodes . We here in Texas love ur show and r proud of u guys.
A pistol must have only one barrel so it is kind of debatable weather the cylinder counts as multiple barrels. For example any Gatling style gun definitively has multiple barrels yet only one is used at any given time so therefore there it isn't clear what a revolver actually is : p
Clips feed ammunition into magazines. Magazines feed ammo into the receiver. Pretty much, if it has a spring, then it's a magazine. Clips are things like the stripper and en-bloc clips that were used to load Mosin-Nagants, the M1 Garand, and so on. Stripper clips are still used today to quickly load military magazines - we used them in training to speed up loading. Afterall, we had to get 180 rounds into 6 magazines and no time to waste doing it.
I live in a trailer park and my family is very educated. We don't need a big house, instead i would rather have a nicer car than a nicer house. Thats why my dad drives a Porsche and lives in a trailer, lol.
Man.. i really miss Barry so friggin much. i learned a lot from him while the channel was active with him still with us, i miss Eric too and it's just not the same. love ya'll. peace.
Thanks for the information from all you guys from a non gun owner. Just trying to learn more with all the debate going on. This is an interesting channel.
Modern sporting rifles are bolt, pump, lever action, single shot or semi-auto, cal. include anything from .22 and up. Assault rifles are select fire(full auto three round burst) mid power rounds(5.56x45mm Nato and 7.62x39mm). Battle rifles are full power rifles(7.62x51 Nato(.308) 30-06 7.62x54R. They can be semi-auto(M1 and M1A1) or full auto capable(M-14 with selector switch installed). These are just some examples, and bare in mind that battle rifle can include any full power rifle.
I actually learned a lot. Most of the things I knew, but I was never interested in revolvers, so I had a knowledge gap. Also, might seem like common sense, but some of the new hammer fired pistols on the market aren't really drop safe. My old room mate had a Beretta PX4 Storm dropped it and it went off in my apartment. I typically steer clear oh hammer firers now.
Thank you guys. I wish more gun shop workers where as knowledgeable and as nice as you 2. I'm only 20 and every time I walk into a gun shop, they look at me as if I'm a criminal or if I'm just a window shopper. No respect in jersey gun shops
I appreciate the breakdown. I have 2 firearms (Taurus TCP and a Beretta 92A1) and I always knew the Beretta was hammer fire. But I thought the little polymer hammer in the Taurus was a striker. SO I learned something today
Good one guys.... As a qualified firearms instructor (with pistol, rifle and shotgun) I will say that that was a very useful video to do. The amazing ignorance of some people that buy guns is amazing. You'd think that if they have enough interest to want to own a gun they'd want to know how it works and what the parts are called.... But no, many don't seem worried..... sigh... xo :-)
My girlfriend has a SR9c and she loves it! Its a quailty firearm and she carries it all the time. I am looking for a SR40 myself, but it is hard to find as of late...
It depends on your price range and the range you think you'd be shooting. You can find a good used Marlin 336 for less than $300 but you will be limited to 200 yards with standard ammo and 300 yards with Leverevolution ammo from Hornaday. For a hundred dollars more you can get a good Savage Stevens 200 and substantially greater range. After that, you have the the Ruger Hawkeye and the Remington 700. Both are simply wonderful guns but will cost you about $700 each. Hope that helps.
"Clip" is a valid term it just is a different thing than a magazine. A clip is usually a metal piece that holds rounds used to load an internal magazine. Some of the old military bolt action rifles like an Enfield use them.
Love the Kahr/Auto Ordnance remakes. Bought one for Re-enacting and target shooting and it works great. You want the old style mag follower for blanks though the welded one that came with mine did not work too well with them.
Y'all should do a video on gunsmiths, if you had to do one aftermarket adjustment to your glock or 1911 what would it be. Maybe talk about best after market pieces and parts. Thanks guys great job with all your vids.. God bless y'all!
I have a US manual for '50s on small arms describing many foreign models and "assault rifle" was used to describe the MP43/StG44.M2 carbine (pistol replacement cartridge), BAR(full power), etc. technically would not fall into definition while M1918 Ribreyrolle(8mm bullet fitted to necked down .351 Winchester case, full auto, 35rd magazine) would easily meet definition. When "officially" designated I'll take your word, but military used term much earlier, and concept around even earlier than that.
I really appreciate all the videos you guys put out. You have really gotten me involved in guns. I was hoping you guys could do a gun review on the Ruger 10/22 takedown.
A clip is a piece of metal designed to hold a limited number of cartridges for reloading the internal magazines of various rifles such as an SKS, a Mosin-Nagant, an M1903 Springfield, an M1917 Enfield, and for detachable box magazine such as those used in an M16/ M4, an AK-47, an M1 Carbine, and an M14. Now the device to load an M1 Garand is also a clip is ejected from in the case of the M1 Garand the top when the last round is fired. This clip holds eight rounds and is inserted into the Garand.
Two names for the same thing. Hiram Maxim, the silencer/suppressor's inventor, named his invention the "Maxim Silencer." The law calls it a silencer too.
I agree Steve, I wish Berry and Eric could get a show going, on the Outdoor channel perhaps? That being said, some of these videos go viral and get over a million views. That would help get REAL information on assault rifles out to the public.
depends on the ranges you think you'll be shooting at, if you're taking longer range shots go with a 30-06 or .270 but if you're shooting around 150yds or less you can't beat a lever action in 30-30, its short and easy to handle, has good power for deer sized game (i shoot moose with a 30-30) and is really accurate at those ranges and ammo is cheap
Fun history fact: The term 'lock stock and barrel' comes from the old black powder days and refers to the three parts of a musket: The flintlock or matchlock, the wooden stock and of course the barrel.
Good video. I have one quibble though. The word "pistol" refers to ANY gun designed to be fired from the hand alone rather than being shouldered. If you don't believe me, look it up in the dictionary. I understand that many people today only use the term to refer to semi=automatic handguns, but this is not really specific, and could lead to confusion. The terms "revolver," and "semi-automatic," are more specific if one wishes to denote the type of loading mechanism. I always make the distinction and say "semi-automatic,", or "revolver." As a further example, what word would you use for a hand held dueling flintlock made in the 1700s? A dueling PISTOL, surely.
Hey guys. Just wondering if you could do a video on firearms optics. What to consider when purchasing optics. Anatomy of scopes. Is spending more on optics than the rifle itself worth it. What's the difference between a $1000 scope and $100 scope. Thanks for taking the time in producing all your other videos
Very good vid that I would like my family to watch. Beg to differ on one thing, this video isn't "long" in the sense that you probably intend it. It was worth 16 minutes of my life. I had no problem watching it because =you had enough content= and weren't rambling or saying the same thing over and over. I've shut off 4-minute vids because that's all they were doing. Keep up the good work.
Barry and Eric, have your seen this? I can't post the link, but it's called "Best 7 minutes on gun control I have ever seen! " here on utube. This guy is great, and very believable in the halls of power... xoxoxo
Check out "Gun Gripes Episode 8: Negligent Discharge". They talk about many accidental discharges. Barry also talks about the guys who shoot themselves in the butt with their 1911s. Great episode. In fact, all of them are!
The term "clip" refers to a very simple device made from one piece of sheet steel. Clips are used to store ammo securely and load it easily into the magazine. Using the term "clip" to describe the magazine is like using the term "jerrycan" to describe your car's fuel tank.
the 1911 from Springfield incorporates a 38 Super firing pin and spring. making it drop safe. the 38 Super firing pin and spring have so much tension on such a light weight pin, only the hammer has the strength to launch that pin. that's thanks to the extra powerful main spring that pushes the hammer.
I LOVE the videos you guys do! I HAVE TO SEE the one where y'all talk about the accidental discharges and hear this story of the 2 people shooting themselves in the ass with the 1911! PLEASE don't forget to make that video!
Hello guys.....new to your subscribers. Have been watching your videos for a long time as im new to fire arms over her in Australia. They have helped me a lot to understand the basics of fire arms so thank you. Still waiting thru the red tape to get license ( 10 months now and still waiting for "license to aquire" crazy waiting times hey ha ha. Look forward to seing more videos from you.
i love a good wheel gun they always seem to work for me and you cant missplace the magazine. Not saying that i ever have but all is possible when poohdukey hits the fan.
the sad thing is that most people dont want to learn. i heard of the proposed gun laws for DE (where i live) and i wanted educate my self on the subject and i have spent the past couple months on youtube and other sites educating myself on the subject. I have always liked guns but never knew alot about them but wanted to learn. cant say the same about most people
Love your videos guys. Could you make a quick video on the differences between modern sporting rifles, assault rifles, and battle rifles? Would be nice to get some correct info into the media. Keep it up.
Have y'all ever thought of testing a trick people have talked about that involves making a match head slush to fill in a hollow point bullet and testing it on a ballistic gel to see if it changes the effect of the bullets damage? The match stick slush is suppose to make a ignition on impact that causes a small burst of fire. Was just wondering what the effectiveness of such a round would be.
44mag DOT com offers a "parts kit" service on many of the magazines they carry, including Pmags specifically for sale to ban states. Some other retailers might do that as well.
Hey guys, please don't ever apologize for making a longer video! Your stuff is both extremely informative, and entertaining. Keep up the great work!
Love ole Barry such a unique character and a wealth of knowledge, RIP Barry
Will miss seeing Barry with his knowledgeable info R.I.P Buddy!!
It seems that Barry was so good because the other guys are just not that good. I cant watch an entire video without Barry in it.
Ive been watching these videos lately. I never knew he passed away. What happened?
@@stevenlee2202 Me too. I got a little sad reading the comments.
If only politicians will watch this video so they can educate themselves about firearms before they make a fool of themselves in public.
yeah true...sigh
+EndlessPCG Them and all of the "microphones" in the media
But , they won't , and they don't need to personally pick up a gun in order to protect themselves.
R.I.P Barry.... too bad he was not around for "Fully Semiautomatic" by an Army General.
Hope you guys know how much both you and Barry(RIP) informed my knowledge of firearms and brought light to a dark cave of ignorance when I was a young man and onward.
Pistol is a broad term. It was around before revolvers existed. So I think revolvers fall under the category of pistol.
You must be 200 yrs old.......
I agree, a revolver is a type of pistol
@@jimbo5635 not by definition. The definition of a pistol includes that the chamber is attached to, or part of the barrel
That's because there were other guns prior to revolvers which were in fact, pistols. That doesn't mean that the revolver is one as well.
@@procrastinator6902 that doesn't mean the revolver isn't one as well.
My last time seeing Barry was him leaving moss pawn in his Ford Ranger, I was in a 93 Toyota truck and I pulled out behind him and we "raced" until the speed limit in our little trucks.
There's nothing I enjoy more ending my day with than a new video from Eric and Barry. Keep it up guys.
Great video, there are a lot of people that are clueless. This was less of a gun gripe and more of a "gun anatomy for dummies". Keep up the great work guys
"I need a barrel for my AK" lmao
Video popped in my recommendations. Miss you Barry. Good man.
Awesome, I've always referred to the springs, pawl inside a revolver etc as the clockwork. This video taught me the correct term is guts. Thanks guys.
My gramps was a WWII vet and he called them all clips because of the Garand. When I slip once in awhile and call magazines clips, I think of him. I miss him. He was the salt of the earth. I like your videos, keep them coming.
My granpda used to call revolvers, cylinder shooties. poor guy never quite grasped the english language.
LOL
Sir Kanni lmao
Sir Kanni And you grew up to be a insecure critical child-man
Older gun people just made up their terms, so it's really no surprise
Kissing girls is pretty gay fam some people call them "wheel guns"

You are providing a valuable service to the public with your videos, and I wanted you to know that I appreciate your continued efforts! Keep it going, guys!
I was just wondering how many magazine clips you have to feed into a .45 ACP in order to properly striker fire the revolver?
You mean clipozine.
bigchunk1 First you need to attach the shoulder thing that goes up.
And then you're ready to spray and fire
+TheCountryJournal Those are Collapsible Barrel shrouds
+bigchunk1 well, its very easy. just take the reloading bullet magazine clip holder case, put it into the reloading bullet magazine clip case receptacle, then shooty the assault gun.

Didn't mention about people calling a magazine a clip.
i hear that waaaay to often!
I'll let that slide if they say 'banana clip'. I don't why, but 'banana clip' is acceptable to describe a curved magazine for me.

Magazine VS Clip. It bugs the heck outta me when people generalize and call everything clips.

AR doesn't stand for assault rifle. It is an abbreviation of the first company to produce them ARmalite.
it standd for Armalite Rifle
cmitch3087 it's not ARmalite it's just Armalite Rifle
@Lithus17 It is actually just Armalite. Armalite made other (non-rifle) firearms, and they were all prefixed with AR.
This is the stuff I subscribed to this channel for. No politics knowledge and experience.

How else knows all this but is still watching to show the importance and appreciation to the channel?
That M16 is so cool, it's awesome that you guys get to play with assault rifles in the shop.
Michael Cuellar lol “assault rifles”
First of all, it’s an AR-15 not an M16, second, it’s not an assault rifle, it’s a rifle
Y’all just got trolled. Too easy 😂
@@gooondie lmao baited
y'all have the best gun videos on youtube
Miss ya Barry- you were a wealth of knowledge.
Fun history fact: The term 'lock stock and barrel' comes from the old black powder days and refers to the three parts of a musket: The flintlock or matchlock, the wooden stock and of course the barrel.
I can listen to barry for hours. I would have loved for him to be around to make 1 hour+ long podcasts
You guys are awesome! I'm sure many of us are learning new stuff with your videos, i am, thanks for sharing!
I miss seeing Barry in the new videos. He is was a wealth of knowledge. May he rest in peace
Thanks guys always been a hunter. Just know starting to get into pistols and ARs, appreciate the knowledge!
You guys know your stuff! I love learning from you guys.
I always wondered about all the different .22 calibers. Thanks for explaining it!
Have been watching your videos for a long time as im new to fire arms over her in Australia. nice to see that you guys have a few more black guns on the wall again. cant wait for reelmen and keep the vids coming
Now this is wat i think is good education, i'm getting smarter every episode thx guys!
This video could be a half hour long and I'd still wish it was longer. Great job as always.
That "Lump " as you refer to it is called a brass deflector which is the proper term for it. Good job though guys !!
I have that exact type of S&W .40 Hammerless Centennial Airweight revolver. It's an excellent weapon.
i love a good wheel gun they always seem to work for me and you cant missplace the magazine.
You guys are great. I knew most of this but ya'll know much more than I. I appreciate your vids.
44mag DOT com offers a "parts kit" service on many of the magazines they carry, including Pmags specifically for sale to ban states. Some other retailers might do that as well.
