Just started firearms training. Had a 15 year old cousin die from a ricocheted Bullet to the heart several years ago. Extremely terrified of that because I know it does happen, but I’m a petite single female, so have to feel I can protect myself, so my fears have to be set aside, yet still very aware.
You explained it so clearly...My Dad tried to teach me to shoot and he kept using terminology I didn't know much about, so I appreciate you for not confusing me!! You cleared a lot of it up for me
Awesome. Thank you so much! Like I said in the video, terminology is the most important thing in learning ANY new skill. If you can't understand the language and the jargon, any new skill is going to be confusing. Once you and your teacher are on the same page with the terms and words being used, learning gets far easier. I'm so glad this helped you!
As a girl i am always afraid to ask family about guns because im scared of judgement from them since i have 0 knowledge about guns. but i have always been intrested in guns and firearms. thanks for this. it was really informative and fun to watch.
I’m a chick and have been shooting/handling guns for over 30 years. Shooting is a skill and can be learned just like any other skill. At first guns are intimidating and scary. Later when you know what you’re doing, and you will, you have respect for them. I’m a better shot than my husband, who’s been handling guns longer than 30 years. The first time I held a gun, the fact that handguns were developed (aside from hunting) to kill another human being was very sobering. Then, okay, what’s next? I learned to shoot, reload, rack the gun, clean them, etc. I shoot revolvers, semiautomatic handguns, rifles and shotguns. Ignore the idiots who make fun of you or put you down. They weren’t born knowing how to shoot just like nobody’s born knowing how to drive. Kudos to you for wanting to learn.
Thank you very much. With the thousands of gun videos online, I have never seen anyone give a broad, general overview on firearm basics. That is what I tried to do. I'm thankful you appreciated me efforts.
I just noticed I wrote "I'm thankful you appreciated *me* efforts"... I'm not sure if that was supposed to be "my" or if I was pretending to be a pirate.

Thank you for sharing such an organized and educational video. I have never practiced shooting, what should be my first hand gun or rifle? Any recommendations?
You're welcome. Glad you liked it. What should your first firearm be? Really depends on what you intend to use it for. There are so many uses for firearms. Hunting? Home defense? Personal protection? Target shooting? Sport shooting? Cowboy action? Skeet? No one can tell you what your first gun should be, until you explain what you want to do with it.
Thank you so much for making this very helpful video! Many others I've seen have so much technical terminology that I can't follow them very well. My husband's entire family is really into hunting, so it was always sort of intimidating when they offered to show me anything. This was exactly what I was looking for!!
Thank you so much for your comment. That means a lot to me. Yes, guns can be very intimidating. When teaching new people, I believe easing their fears is the top priority. I'm happy to hear this video helped calm your concerns. I hope you actually get to shoot and enjoy the hobby someday soon!
Thank you so much! 40,000 views and I think you are the first person to mention the Caddyshack joke. I'm glad someone finally understood what I was doing.
The reason my hand was shaking is because I was looking through the viewfinder of the camera and I had to hold the firearm out as far as possible, to keep it in frame. Let's see anyone hold a 2 pound weight in their hand for 3 minutes, twisting and turning and moving it, with their arm outstretched as far as you can, and not shake.

My dad made us try to shoot back when I was 13 yo (which my mom taught us, me and my sister, how to aim) and I learned pretty fast and i got satisfied with how fast I learned and had fun actually, and now I'm dying to learn all of the basics and trying to learn how to use them conveniently and safely.
Thank you so much for that. The best video I’ve seen for beginners up to now. I went to one of those idiot ranges where I was handed a high-power shotgun on my first session lol. Luckily, I still have my front teeth.
Oh, boy. Yeah, a beginner should NOT be starting with a 12ga shotgun. I hope you give it another try and have a much more considerate teacher. Thanks for the compliments!
I'm new to gun ownership and found your video to be very helpful. I like the key points you mentioned and I'm thankful for your introduction. Lots to consider.
Great Job!! I thoroughly enjoyed this class😊 and learned a lot! Very informative and entertaining (I wasn't bored) I served 8 yrs military so I am familiar with rifles but I've never used a hand gun or pistol. I'd like to purchase one for protection, and get training at a range. I'm single petite female and I travel A LOT for work by myself, if anything ever happened (God forbid) I probably can't physically defend myself against a large person. Anyway, Thanks for the lesson!👍🏽
You;re welcome. I'm shocked that in 8 years of military service, you had no handgun training. That's a little disturbing. I mean, if our military personnel don't know how to use a handgun, what the heck are they teaching our soldiers!? I admire you for serving and I'm grateful you served our country. I'm also glad I could help educate you on some things our military failed to teach you.
Thank you for educating. I grew up with a firearm expert father so I learned all these things. I wish for all people to understand these basics so that they are not intimidated by firearm conversations, firearm laws, 2d Amendment rights 👍
Thank you for this video! Very informative and I like the way you’ve approached us beginners.. I’ve watched several videos on gun ownership and about starting out and this is very very good because it doesn’t assume us newbies know anything.. which is how you teach ppl. Other videos were informative if you already have a basic knowledge. Learning the terminology is very helpful for me and helps me relate this info to other things I e learned this far.
You are very welcome. I'm glad you found it helpful. I agree any "beginner" videos are not very good and they skip a lot of important fundamentals. My motive behind creating this was to lay the groundwork, so people will be a lot more comfortable before they go to a training class.
Thank you. I think about making more a lot, actually. This is not a "firearms channel" per se, but this is one of my most popular videos and lots of people have asked for more. I keep thinking maybe I should do a firearms channel... We shall see what the future holds...
@@LuthorvilleCA I have ran into this problem my self and I would just recommend doing everything on one channel as some of your viewers will like the overlap and the videos have a higher chance of doing better when you already have a slight subscriber base built it. Your channel could either have mixed content or slowly over time you can transition to being just a firearms channel. I started with a fitness channel first and then I transitioned to tech channel and because I had viewers to already, it helped boosted the new tech content and overall everything performed better.
@@SERGE_Tech Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I think it depends on two main factors: 1. The quantity of content. 2. How closely it relates to your current channel. For example, if it's just a few videos that are slightly off-topic, it can be okay. Almost like a "special series". But, if it ends up being 50 videos veering way off the original premise of your channel, you should just create a different channel. Personally, I already have multiple channels for multiple subjects. Some are far more popular than others. For example, I have a skateboarding channel with over 30K subscribers and I have a brand new bicycling channel with... 29. Not 29,000. Just... 29. Ha, ha! I see transitioning the topic of your channel worked out very well for you. I just looked at your channel and your tech videos really surged in popularity, compared to the fitness stuff. That's awesome! But, yes, the firearms stuff is fun. I'm glad you enjoyed what I did.
6/19/20 after seeing all these weird movements around the country and crowds demanding “defund the police”, certainly, I needed this video to start my own collection of guns. Excellent video!!! 😃🇺🇸👍🏽

Not bad marksmanship with the rifle all considered.. Iron sights, distance and wind all to factor in.. I reckon if you spoke less whilst aiming and focused your breathing you would have landed more shots..... On the stcheeel😂
I really enjoyed your presentation. Despite it being the basis of firearm practice I found this upload to be to the point, thorough and well thoughtout. Personally I feel that this upload will be very insightful and aid alot of potential new firearm owners. I do have to point out that it is probably not the best idea to cross thumbs as a means of creating a stable grip on your pistol as it may lead to unnecessary "muzzle flip" and thereby reducing accuracy which in my belief is a liability in a self defense scenario. Also you going to want to watch the itchy finger on the trigger when re-holstering buddy.. I saw that😳
Thanks. You mean at the end? On the 100 yard shots? That's actually a _Caddyshack_ reference. I'm doing a parody of Bill Murray. Some viewers get that joke and some miss it.
@@LuthorvilleCA haha yeah weirdly enough though I'm a GenXer I never saw Caddyshack, so totally missed the reference. The joke still plays well, to your credit. :)

in Taiwan most people can just start with shotguns because there are not many option ,thease couple year there is pristol with .22 but price of shooting single shot is expensive than shotgun.
@Hawkins No real reason. I'm just a fan of Old West styles of guns. Some people like modern sporting rifles. Some people like shooting trap and hunting. Some people like cowboy action. Some people love Glocks. I just happen to like the style of old single action revolvers.

I'm glad you found this video helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Nice. Well, I hope this video was useful, along with all your parents taught you.
Having my first introduction of firearms today. I didn’t want to come in to the club not knowing shit, thanks man for not making a fool out of myself
You're welcome. Firearms are a lot of fun and I hope you get years of enjoyment from using them and learning about them.
@@LuthorvilleCA Thanks man. They didn’t let me into their association though, so I still can’t apply for my license
First video I watch on firearms and super informative, great job and thanks a lot !
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it useful.
I also need to make so sure I'm educated on self defense laws. That'll be next on my agenda🙂
They do vary from state to state, so it's good to be educated. If you travel a lot, be sure to check into reciprocity laws too.
I'm new to gun ownership and found your video to be very helpful. I like the key points you mentioned and I'm thankful for your introduction. Lots to consider.
Awesome. I'm glad you found it useful and I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I know how to operate a firearm I been around guns ever since I was a kid I learned firearm safety and all that
That's cool you were taught all those things. It's good to have that sort of education. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for educating. I grew up with a firearm expert father so I learned all these things. I wish for all people to understand these basics so that they are not intimidated by firearm conversations, firearm laws, 2d Amendment rights 👍
You are welcome. Thank you for such a nice comment. I'm flattered that the son of a firearms expert approves. I appreciate that.
God i wish before i die.I want to learn to shoot guns. Its seems like too mutch fun to pass out on.
Many ranges have rentals. But I do highly suggest outdoor ranges if you can find them. The indoor shockwaves can be uncomfortable.
phenomenal video! can you make more of these?
I think it depends on two main factors:
Love the Bill Murray Reference .
Thank you for catching it!
Gonna add this to my things I’m nerdy about collection now
Thanks for that. A proud list to occupy.
finally a video about guns that is sensible. so many people being so gung-ho and stupid about firearms. this was fascinating, thank you!
Thank you. Yes, there are a lot of embarassing "tough guy" gun videos out there.
@@LuthorvilleCA exactly
You forgot one great advantage of shooting steel: that satisfying *pling*
True. It does sound much better than paper too.
6/19/20 after seeing all these weird movements around the country and crowds demanding “defund the police”, certainly, I needed this video to start my own collection of guns.
Excellent video!!! 😃🇺🇸👍🏽
Stay safe out there.
I’ve been shooting since I was 5 I’m 12 now
That's pretty cool. Nice to have a lot of experience at a young age.
I’m 12 too and my dad tonight me to shoot at 3
Butternut Best boy nice
I’m just trying to learn the basics so I understand what my boyfriend is talking about. Because he’s absolutely in love with in guns. More then me lol
Most women love their shoes more than their men.
Most men love their guns more than their women.
It all evens out.
I'm 17, so nowhere close to owning one but when I do it'll be awesome
Thanks man great video, appreciate it!
In most states, you can own a gun at nearly any age, as long as your parents are supervising the use. Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the comment.
@@LuthorvilleCA You know its quite complicated here in India
What if we only shoot indoors? We only use paper targets
Nothing wrong with that if you're having fun.
Brother, I am 66 yrs old, and have hunted in Mojave, a lot, back in the 70's. Just wanted you to know I enjoyed the video, and will be subscribing. Also, gonna use this video to teach my two grandkids livin with me. Thanks, well done.
Thank you so much. It's always nice to receive kind and supportive comments like yours. I really appreciate that.
Thank you so much for making this video. It was so informative and clear to understand. The best video for beginners. Thank you again.
You are very welcome. I'm glad you found it useful!
Please make more videos about firearms
I should. That would be fun. But I always seem to have 9 billion projects going on.
His funny voice was killong me
My mediocre Bill Murray imitation. I've learned *many* people who watch this video have never seen _Caddyshack_ .
Not bad marksmanship with the rifle all considered.. Iron sights, distance and wind all to factor in.. I reckon if you spoke less whilst aiming and focused your breathing you would have landed more shots..... On the stcheeel😂
Today I learned what Lackadaisical meant
I was trying to teach the basics of firearms and inadvertently expanded vocabularies as well. Excellent!
I saw that😳
Thanks! Good beginner's class.
Thank you! You’ve helped rid me of some of my uncomfortable feelings of my gun.
lol I like your old gunner man voice
Hi. I'm not a beginner but this video is a fine production of the basics. Need folks like you!
Always nice to hear positive feedback from experienced shooters. Thank you.
Thank you so much. This was the best video I have ever seen on the web. To funny the joking from the movie.
Thank you for the compliments. Glad you appreciated my humor too!
I was given a handgun for Christmas and this video has taught me more than 3 solid days of research. I'm terrified of sounding like an idiot when I find an instructor lol thanks for giving me a groundwork ahead of time
Very cool. Thank you for the comment and I'm glad you found this useful. Have fun with your new handgun and enjoy the training class!
Great intro/reminder about Firearms! Enjoyable, Informative and fun!
Nice quote at the end. “If your ambitions don’t scare you they aren’t big enough.” Good advice and thanks for the video.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Alec Baldwin should have watched this video.
That's a terrible thing to say!
... But it sure made me laugh.
a most informative video, excellent! coming from a guy in the UK and not likely to ever use or have a firearm I was very impressed. thank you.
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed it. My intent was not only to teach the basics, but to do so in a way that it would be appealing to a person like yourself. So, I really appreciate your comment.
I watched this because my friends teased me I didn't know about guns and i'm American, now i'm happy I watched it.
in Taiwan most people can just start with shotguns because there are not many option ,thease couple year there is pristol with .22 but price of shooting single shot is expensive than shotgun.
Thank you very informative !
You're welcome. Glad you liked it.
The ruger new model black hawks stainless are the heaviest revolver ,it's too MUCH to carry on a holster all day but ,the blue one is a lot lighters
I can't imagine Rooster Cogburn complaining a gun was too heavy. I'll manage.
@Hawkins
No real reason. I'm just a fan of Old West styles of guns. Some people like modern sporting rifles. Some people like shooting trap and hunting. Some people like cowboy action. Some people love Glocks. I just happen to like the style of old single action revolvers.
