The fact that the lovely former owners were willing to sell so many of the treasure’s they found for the chateau is amazing. They truly understand this ancient building and how hard it it to find just the right pieces. And so many treasures they just left. I do hope they will eventually come back to see what your family has done to add to the history and beauty of this magical Chateau. There truly is Fairy Dust in the air!
This chateau is in fantastic condition compared to many I have seen on RUclips. You are very blessed to have been given so many beautiful items and been able to buy some from the previous owner. 🇨🇦
The chateau is simply stunning. I’m looking forward to learning and seeing more. As a gardener, I must say, however, that I’m shocked that you are under the impression that the garden requires no care or maintenance in the winter. If you are to be away for 3 months you may be overwhelmed by the amount of work to be done upon your arrival. Your chateau has been lived in and very well maintained. I hope you have a diligent caretaker living there in your absence and to keep you up to date on the condition of the chateau. Otherwise, I guarantee there will be surprises inside and out. 🙏🏻❣️🙏🏻
@@arnicepernice8656 I hardly think Stephanie Jarvis is clueless. She and her parents worked hard to keep their chateau from deteriorating and she has researched the architectural and landscape history extensively. For a few years she’s benefited from volunteers helping and she has the place fully staffed now + contractors to even assist with the forest and restoration of the lake!
@@arnicepernice8656 Stephanie has hired a qualified landscape designer. In fact, he has appeared many times and they debuted the design for the entire property this winter. She has done extensive research about the lake that was drained and has gotten approval from the local authority, and the lake is part of the design. She has a tree expert who is helping her to restore the forest so that it’s healthy and safe for hikers. Plus she has 2 dedicated staff gardeners and, on occasion, volunteers. She admits she’s not a gardening expert, which is why she’s hired experts. There is much more!
@@arnicepernice8656 His name is Davey. You are confusing him with Dan, who is a professional chef and gardener. She learned about his cuisine training after she hired him as a gardener. Dan also has a lot of DIY skills, if you ever watch his vlog. If you’ve lived in the country you meet a lot of multi-skilled and talented people.
The chateau is so gorgeous! You lucked out with the furnishings the old owners left behind! The grounds are just as impressive and the entire property so well taken care of.
You need to do a complete room by room photo inventory and consider bringing in an appraiser to ensure your insurance coverage is sufficient, just an fyi from a former boutique hotelier…
If you are from California you are not used to having to winterize a home or have an overseer checking daily so that the heat is working well enough to prevent the water pipes from freezing and bursting. If any of the pipes freeze and burst your Chateau will have huge/ expensive water damage with flooding and will have to break out walls to replace pipes..I have heard you can turn each faucet on enough to drizzle so you have enough water movement to prevent freezing...but I have never tried that so I could not guarantee it works. I winterize my summer home by having a plumber blow out all the pipes, empty the hot water tank, put antifreeze in all the drains, toilets, drain the washer and dishwasher. I have never had a burst pipe this way MY parents also winterized their summer home for 50 years with a plumber and never had a broken pipe.
That happened to me in my vacation house in France and we had horrendous water damage. We had turned off the water and drained down the system before we left, but didn't realise the water meter was faulty and it allowed water to go into the pipes which froze splitting the pipes and then when it thawed, water cascaded down through the centre of the house. Thankfully the water company were responsible for the faulty meter so our insurers did pay out. If they are leaving the house unoccupied in the winter it would be well worth their time to pay a local person to firstly advise them how to winterise the house and also to visit the chateau occasionally to check for leaks so that at least it can be attended to before it escalates and causes damage. I lost a so called good friend who had volunteered to do this for us and then never bothered to check.
This is a stunning property! I remembered it from Stephanie's vlog! Exquisite!!! You are so lucky that the previous owners left behind all these fine antiques. Enjoy your new home! Greetings from Athens Greece!
Breathtaking!!! The staircase is beautiful, the Grand Salon just glows with delight 😊 . The antiques are so unique. I would love to spend the entire day in the library. I am so happy for you all.
Thank you for another beautiful tour. Those views are spectacular. They look like paintings. The autumn scenery looks so cozy and tranquil. You are very lucky to have found such a beautiful place. Looking forward to more videos.🥂
How wonderful they left all the books in the library! The chateau looks enchanting at twilight. I know it's hard to leave for a few months but at least you'll return in the spring when everything is beginning to bloom and the weather is beautiful. ¡Feliz Navidad y Prospero Año Nuevo!
That place is magnificent. It’s like move in ready. I can’t believe they left all those amazing paintings, furnishings and tapestries. The gardens are stunning. People spend a lifetime trying to get their chateau to this level.
I am fairly certain that those items left behind were negotiated into t h e price, and then there are things that would simply be impractical for them to move out.
It takes my breath away! So I can just imagine how you feel to “see” you home ✨✨✨✨✨ My favorite room is The China Room! I would fill that room! Mad for porcelain ❤
The Chateau is fabulous by day, but in the evening with the lights on inside and the sunset behind, it really is a magical place... what a find. Happy Holidays to you all.
Mother complains about there not being glasses and pans....but old owners left lion share of what they've collected over the years for the chateau behind....how dare they 🤣🤣🤣 loving the vlogs so far. Fingers crossed that your visas are cleared quickly and you can be reunited with such a beautiful home 🙏🙏🙌❤
Beautiful chateau. You are very good at speaking. Just a suggestion, could you clip a microphone on your shirt it's difficult to hear what your saying at times, we don't want to miss anything you describe. What a bonus it was that they left you some furniture.👍👍👍 Amazing adventures ahead for all of you. Congratulations on your purchase
I don't know if you're still reading comments, but I can't help my tardy self. I've loved the French aesthetic since I was a kid. While 17th-18th century classicism is my forever passion, I've come to adore the entire design heritage. Your new home is a paragon of what I construe as accidental perfection, created over time by individuals of multiple epochs, all loving the same place and buildings. I felt delighted surprise as you moved us from spiral staircase to Restauration salons to a cozy demi-lune study and back to a Renaissance salle a manger. How utterly French it is that everything gracefully cohabitates and conspires to showcase the beauty of both court and gardens. Plus--the stroke of good fortune you've received with the furnishings blows my mind. I don't know you and your partner, but I am so happy for you both! I hope the aggravations of aged wiring and modern HVAC in ancient stone walls haven't made you tear your lovely hair out since last year. My best to you and your endeavors.
Dear Jeff, as a French, I totally agree with you 🙂 Those ladies have undoubtedly purchased one of the finest châteaux we can see on vlogs. It is truly amazing and gorgeous. They were very lucky to find it 🙂
I’m currently binge watching from the start from Australia, I saw an episode of manor maker with you ladies in it and so I searched you up and subscribed, wow I’m just loving every episode so far and cannot wait to get through the rest and continue to watch your journey. I’m hoping one of the videos I haven’t watched yet has some history of the chateau and previous owners over the centuries ❤️❤️❤️❤️
in Germany we also have such beautiful castles that are preserved at all costs. they often contain restaurants or cafes, orangeries and dance halls. Visits to the castle naturally cost an entrance fee. i loved these castle tours with my son who is an art historian and antiques dealer by my side. he can tell about every piece of furniture, paintings, chandeliers, gardens etc. the historical background such as the names of the architects and horticulturist architects.
A couple I know bought a chateau some years ago with all it's furnishings and it turned out that some pieces of furniture were worth as much as they paid for the chateau. Did you buy the extra land and woods ?
Everything looks beautiful. And autumn is showing her best outfit 🍁🍂. You don't have these seasons in San Diego.. My husband lived at point Loma. Love from the Netherlands 🌷
I'm in Palo Alto CA and have never been to France but somehow the sky there has a life of its own. So unique and beautiful! Good luck with all of the administrivia! Looking forward to more! 🙏❤️
I just sit here trying to imagine being blessed enough to call that home. It’s just beautiful beyond words. I’m so happy for you all. I can totally understand how overwhelmed you must have felt because that is an emotion that would be totally acceptable with acquiring such a piece of history. I cannot wait to see more of your beautiful home and thank you so much for sharing it with us all. That in itself is a gift you have bestowed upon your new subscribers. Safe travels and your chateau will lovingly await you coming home to stay ❤️🥰
I just love your new home, it is so beautiful, you must have to pinch yurselves everyday that your now living in your own fairytale and the dream is reality, I am so happy for you all and so look forward to your chateau vlogs and when you are all living in the chateau together, merry xmas Julia and Caroline and family 👸🏻🙍🏻♀️💁🏻♀️👩🏻🦳👨🏻🦳🏰🎄🌟♥️👍🏼

What I love about your chateau is the beautiful views from all the windows. That Autumn view with the sun going down on the trees is magnificent. Hoping you can be back soon for good.
You will need an expert gardener who knows all about topiary to maintain those wonderful gardens. Anybody can sweep the leaves up of course. The colours in the interior and outside in the gardens are extremely beautiful and even sublime. May you be very happy and successful living in such extraordinary surroundings, and don't forget to read the Bible.
It does look so lovely, thank you for the tour. You might wish to start buying stock in companies that make the lightbulbs for those chandeliers, (giggle…). Hope you have safe travels going back to California for just a little while and especially then returning to your own chateau home in spring. Kindest regards, stay safe!
Loved the moment with Carolina sharing when she fell under the spell. So looking forward to seeing the rest of it! So many wonderful things to discover both in the house and in the area!
What a wonderful vlog the beauty the furnishings not to mention the views. My only problem I couldn’t hear everything especially when you turned away from the camera. Many other Chateau Owners who vlog seem to have a clip on mike. Just a thought. Have a wonderful Christmas. Keep safe.🎄🎄🎄🇬🇧🇬🇧
Stunning! Beyond envious! As an 🇺🇸 to another. A great way to safely clean the crystal chandeliers… mix 50/50 distilled water and 70%+ isopropyl alcohol. Cover the sockets w/ziplocks and lay down plastic and hose it down. I have an 18th century French chandelier and I do this twice a year. It’s truly drip dry and cascade clean. Lol.
Thankyou for the tour of the Chateau rooms just spectacular the previous owners so generous leaving art furniture to you home to prepare for the big move Just unbelievable but true look forward to your first dinner with all the family in a Chateau in France😍😍❤️❤️👌👌🍸🍸
Once you return to France, I hope you will give us an in depth tour of these rooms again. I'm sure I'm speaking for lots of others, when I say that I'd love for you to take your time walking through each room, and panning very slowly, so that we don't miss a thing. I'd love for you to linger a bit too, with close-ups of some of the lovely details in the rooms. It's all so stunning!!

When I was in high school to my computer teacher I’d love to build a castle one day and he’s like why don’t you buy one? And told me to Google castles for sale, I was in shock and never thought that was possible! Now finding these channels is igniting that old dream 💙 As Americans, I’m hoping you gals can answer these questions I have. Why are there no screens on the windows? Are bugs coming in not an issue in France? Also, how do you keep the pipes from freezing? 😳
Your new home is very beautiful, Super jealous. I kind of wonder if the reason why the lights don’t work in your two rooms is possibly because you’ve blown a fuse hopefully it’s not an electrical wire problem because that potentially could be a fire hazard.
Thank you for the beautiful tour. What a spectacular new home you have and the views are breathtaking! I look forward to seeing you there again in the Spring! Bonnes Fêtes et à bientôt!
Wow! So i was watching a couple from Italian they stayed in a French chateau. So I decided to check out other places and found your channel. Wow what a beautiful place you now own. I cant stop saying wow coz there is no better words right now

Hehe I agreed. My garden is way smaller and it's more than a full time job for me. I am going to get volunteers to stay just to do the weeding alone.

Your new home is very beautiful, Super jealous. I kind of wonder if the reason why the lights don’t work in your two rooms is possibly because you’ve blown a fuse hopefully it’s not an electrical wire problem because that potentially could be a fire hazard.
So beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!!!
