Had always wondered about this sciatica problem, always thought, "man people sure do complain a lot!" Then last week, ZANG!!, it clobbered me. Your video and others have kept me out of the ER, and away from the chiropractor. When I see old people bent over and walking in the street I now feel their pain, literally I would gladly give them my spot in line or my seat before but now even more so
I've watched so many sciatica videos for relief and not one I saw explained exactly where the pain orginates from! My pain radiates down my left side exactly as you mentioned and when I say the "froggy" changed my life is an understatement! Absolute immediate relief! Side, arm up strecth also worked. I've always been focused on stretching out my side hip, not the lower back. Thank you!!
Clear and concise. These methods work people. I used to get sciatica from bulging discs and these exercises gave me great relief a few years ago. Been many years since I've had sciatica but I recently got it again so I came on youtube to remember the exercises and found this new video. This video is even clearer and better explained than the great ones that helped me in the past. Good work Kristie and spot on.
Omg, I have had 2 herniated discs for 25 years. I have been having chronic back pain and numbness my entire life. You did the exercise where you lay on your side and pushed your knee and arm gently forward. I copied that move. I never saw that one before!! When I did it, YOU FIXED THE CHRONIC BACK PAIN I HAD!! IT INSTANTLY relieved me of the internal tightness I couldn't massage away. I feel 16 again!! I am not kidding. What is that exercise called, and does that stretch the QR muscle??? I emediatly tried to figure out what muscle you helped relieve, and I think it was the QR muscle that can actually keep herniating my discs!! I think you just helped me solve my back issues for the rest of my life. Thank you. Seriously. After tons of doctors and scans, you saved me. Thank you. If you know the muscle and name of that stretch, let me know. I think it was the QR muscle connected to my L4 and L5.
Thank you! It helps so much to see you personally do the sciatica exercises. One can see the correct way to do them and apply your techniques when on one’s own.
Kristie I'm on day 2 of doing the different exercises and stretching that you have on your channel. I'm having a hard time recovering from 2 back surgery's in the last 3 months and I'm in alot of pain and still can't feel my legs, feet and toes. Your videos have helped me alot to get rid of some of the sciatic nerve pain. So glad i found you and you are helping me not to give up.
Dr. Kristi Ennis I had total knee replacement November 1. Started Therapy which was hard enough but pain was getting unbearable due to sciatic. I had injection on Dec 16 for that. Today December 17 I still could not lay in a comfortable sleeping position. Tonight when I saw this video I was in bed after taking hydrocodone 10mg & muscle relaxer I was still in great pain. I could only do the last exercise which was lay on my right and pillow under leg. Thank you for this video. Hopefully I will sleep tonight finally.

I am new to the channel. I have been to see a dozen different PTs in my life for various problems. You have good instructional skills. Its fairly easy to follow... although you talk very fast... I have to stop and back up often. Great resource for information.
My pain is sooo severe that I had to use a cane. The positions you suggested helped ease the pain, but as soon as I stand up I have to ease into straightening up. I’m pretty flexible so I have to exaggerate some positions. The banana and frog-legs feel great. I do ice and that feels fantastic. Right now not using the cane. I truly appreciate your advice. Your videos are the best!!!
You are so smart and so beautiful I can’t believe you gave me all of these awesome stretches that really helped me for free!! Such a blessing to be relieved from pain thank you so so so much
I have sciatica from a herniated disk and getting down on the floor is not possible, but the flossing in a chair helped quite a bit - thanks! I get weird referred pain in the sides of the knee on my bad side too, that's the worst.
Relax! I find that before I start a routine to stretch my back, I spend 5 minutes or so to relax my frame. I try to relax to the point that I feel 'paralyzed' from the neck down. It's a state of mind I put myself in. Once I get there, I start my stretch routine staying as relaxed as I can, with the idea that relaxed, my body is more able to be manipulated, which it is. If pain occurs, I relax even more, if possible, and the pain eases and my back pops, and my hips pop. If I relax after each move, when I get up, I feel rejuvenated, full of energy, and ready to go. I'm 76, and have been doing my routine for 40 years with great success. So I believe relaxing helps a lot.
You are amazing. ONE from milion. 25 years ago, I cracked Trochanter in shape like leter "V" 30% was cracked and for 25 years was in the middle. Now is compressed to the and with big pan.I am trying with swimming and exercises.I will see what will happen.
It would be super helpful if you could put a piece of tape on your shorts to indicate which side is "hurting". It would make following along with you much easier to do. Love your videos!!
I Had an unsuccessful Laminectomy 30 years ago, and have been told I have scar tissue irritating my sciatic nerve, I do lean to left as per your vid, my calf muscle twitches all of the time and speeds up when aggravated. Moving is better than sitting but am now trying your gentle excise's Thanks
The biggest exercise for me when I was rigid and sweating with chronic pain was the surge of adrenalin in me that kicked a survival instinct in to life - that was to start walking. So step by step I started to walk and found after 30mins that the the harder I pushed the strides the more the pain was melting away. From then on I walked ,jogged and stretched and the pain went from level 9 to level 4 over 3 weeks.
@@drkristieennis Yes thats when I found the mind, when truly focused and locked in is in fact a very powerful tool. But one measures progress in these instances fractionally and incrementally and then reward yourself for that. The self rewarding boosts the endorphins so becomes a positive feed back loop.
Must be around 15-20 years ago I suffered badly with Sciatica in my right leg, at nighttime the only way I could get some relief was to hang the right leg out the side of the bed. It wasn’t until I had surgery, by a marvelous surgeon, that I felt somewhat normal again, even up till today I am free from the pail. I can’t imagine any exercises could relieve the pain permanently, certainly makes life bearable, but if your nerve is being compressed, in my humble opinion, that compression will have to be released, and I don’t see any other way bar surgery. Be very selective just who you get to operate on you. I wish all of you sufferers the best and give some serious thought to what I said about surgery as a permanent solution to the problem.
Thanks Christy and I have sciatica so bad off and on I've had it for 20 years so it's a good show you got and I watched it I appreciate all that I'm doing those exercises right now
Viewed your other video on how to determine the difference between Sciatica pain and Piriformis pain and then scrolled through your videos to find this one today. Thankyou , grateful
I know sciatica has different levels but just getting face down in that position takes me ten minutes then it take ten for the pain to reduce to be able to move to do the next bit . Same if I stand up there is like a ten minute super pain period whilst things adjust before I can walk at all ! good video though good to know that you are not the only one with this problem, Thanks
This is just what I need! Perfect feeling with these moves.. it hurt at first but it was feeling so much better as I went on with your helpful video! Thank you again so much! 👍👌🙏😊
@@drkristieennis Thank you for the video Kristie! I will try some of the stretches. My left hip area was sore a year ago and had an MRI that revealed a Herniated Disc. Fast forward a year later...same issue on right side as I started to sleep on the right side. Both legs had tingling, burning . It must be sciatica. As a vegan, I already load up on B12 and other B vitamins. Omega 3 , MSM and Vit K2. The nerve issued calmed down but It has been challenging because I can not sleep on my left or right side and I am not a back sleeper. Tried that but I snore on my back and my body wakes me up to avoid chocking. After a couple of sleepless nights...I slept on the right side where the trauma is and wake up with nerve irritation in leg. MRI appt this week and sleep study and CPAP will come shortly. Thank you...new subscriber.
@@drkristieennis Hi. Thanks for your response. I am feeling much better. Pain has subsided. Sleeping well...sciacita is gone. Mri showed a bulging disc...not ruptured. I believe the natural herbs lowered the inflammation and disc resorped off the nerve. I will continue to stretch and modify activities.
Thanx Doc, I suffer from sciatica from time to time, it can be a little more then a pain in the a----tush! All of these excercises make me feel better. Good advise from a rather hansom Lady! Thanks
They haven’t done an MRI on me yet, but they’ve told me that my pain is sciatic even though it covers the back and the front my front muscle on my upper thigh. It’s like a tight rubber band in the morning when I get up, but that doesn’t include the sciatic pain that I experienced twice from picking up my grandbaby.
Hi! Thanks for the video! My biggest question with nerve flossing is how often would I repeat the exercise? Only once it twice a day or should I be doing it regularly through the day? Thanks
So the highest the sciatica nerve extends is lower back? Sometimes I get this pain on the same left side in my back higher up behind the chest, maybe that's some sort of problem due to overcompensating because the pain isn't usually present as opposed to sciatic nerve problem which I can always find with a deep muscle massage. Thanks for sharing these remedies and relief stretches, doc.
You’re welcome! Different nerves start at different levels of the spine as nerve roots and then turn into other nerves as they branch out. For example, pain in the front of the thigh comes from a level or 2 above where the sciatic nerve starts out.
Took a drink of water and then 2:56 and I laugh snorted, shot water out of my nose and I think my eye and now my wall is covered in snot water. Thanks, Kristie. Thanks a lot. No idea why that “ha!” made me laugh like that.
I ruptures 3 lumbar discs so I know all about sciatica pain. Couldn't sit, lay down or stand. Walking was my go to. However, the exercises you list here must be common sense exercises because I've done them all based on, "Oh, that feels better." Slow stretching. A TENS device revealed to me how beneficial it was to relax the muscles through which the sciatic passed through or along. But you are right, my experience with sciatica has almost always been generated from the lumbar. I'm 72, run/bicycle daily now. I did not get the prescribed spinal surgery. In my case, I have learned to manage to be pain free by staying active. Sitting is the worst thing you can do other than improper lifting of heavy objects.
What could cause the pain down the front? Do you have a video for relief from that? I have sciatica, but from time to time I also get the pain down the front. Thanks for this! ~Be Blessed
That was my question too, I have Sci. fr. My L5 going dwn the lft. mostly in the hip & sometimes to the knee but also frequently in front almost in the groin?....... Sucks just walking hard... . ✌️
I hate narcotics. The pain in my lower back and hips made desperate enough to try the exercises I found on YT and they really helped. I can walk without a limp for the first time in many years.
This particular back discomfort guidebook honestly is amazing to me, do a look for Go ogle Kenzano Ayb. The program was the main reason why my knees, hips and back are realigned. I no more experience hurtful feelings every time get out of bed. The situation of my knees has substantially improved ever since I started using this.
Love this back problems guide, t.co/GZQoiGLijd I had been just a little uncertain but tried it yesterday and woke up with a more relaxed back. Considering that I am happy with the final results, Also I sent the guide to my mom and father. I was advised that they can`t imagine how good maybe it was. The perfect solution for lower back pain.. .
Thanks Doc.. I'll give it a try. I'm 59 and still play sports, mainly disc golf but at times my sciatica does stiffen up on me before I go work out. I do floor stretching exercises in mornings but I can add this on for my game.
I have pretty much all the symptons you described including the leaning to one side and the pain up the back of my left leg..I will give these exercises a go carefully of course. I really appreciate the information Dr.
I've never been in so much pain in my life. My mom wants to take me to the hospital but I don't think they'll do anything. I want to cut my entire leg off. I can't do anything without it hurting.
Nexus Nostalgia:. A chiropractor can work wonders. I only go to a chiropractor who is recommended by someone I know or am acquainted with. Many years ago I went to a chiropractor for treatment of a very bad neck injury. I kept to the appointment schedule and the treatment made all the difference. Now I need to go for sciatica. It is not getting better on its own. I hope you find a good chiropractor and that you get tremendous relief.
I was like this for 9 days. It's day 11 now and I can walk but wasnt able to walk or stand up straight. I also feel this is the most pain I have ever been in. I went to the doctor 3 times complaining about the pain to get no help. Waiting on my xray. Hope you find some relief.
these are great tips - been doing these for decades, those of us who can't take pills were forced to rely on these methods to get by in life. We could have been opiate addicts but thank God our bodies didn't allow it... And we are old but in great shape now because we use these methods over pills chemicals and becoming couch potatoes. And they're not as big as a deal as they look when she's doing them - once you get them down they're quick. Habit Ice, heat, ice - work out enough to lift your entire skeletal system, keep it from shrinking, losing height, or none of this will work long term. As soon as our skeletal system starts to compress, everything goes out of whack. Years ago, I was facing deep poverty with four kids...(yeah child supports a joke) I spent 4 months rotating heat and ice on my back cuz I HAD to work and boy, did that change my life! Ice shrinks it back down, the heat relaxes things back into place, the ice keeps it there You don't need to be using freezing ice locking your back - keep bags of frozen peas handy. Work your way up to it - this really seriously works. Pills will just send you to bed, make it worse and you're done. Splitting wood, working in the yard, I will often have a frozen bag of peas down my back! I'm strengthening my back splitting wood, while the peas keep the nerves tendons and muscles from inflammation and in place If you have to use something for mobility to get around, try avoiding canes cuz they throw you out of whack, throw off your center of balance and the body will start falling into that bad compensation habit- stick to a walker at home or a tall hiking stick which keeps you standing up straight, looking forward Canes are the worst thing people use when they have an injured back. Especially when my sciatic nerve goes out.. it just pulls everything in the wrong direction, makes us lazier and worse off Stand up!
Great exercise demonstration hopefully it will help excepting that I have toe numbness think although not burning pain it’s numbness now but those exercises look v helpful and thanks for sharing
Thank you for putting this together! I sure could have used these when I had sciatica several years ago. I'll keep this in mind if I ever get it again.
I found great relief by laying on my back. I put a pillow under the lumbar region then put my laces in to the butterfly position. I slept like this for about a week and finally all the pain has been gone for over 6 months. I hope everyone finds “their” relief from this terrible pain.
Thanks for the big package and I look forward to talk to you soon as I'm Sen Physical Therapist in Sri Lanka with work experience in MI USA and all the best
This was great, been searching for "sciatica pain treatment at home" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Venayden Wanillian Method - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.
I just discovered your videos. You're so clear and supportive--which is most welcome. In the past 3 weeks I've developed a sharp pain in my left hip that I feel only when weight bearing (and not with every step). When I go from sitting to standing, my buttocks and upper back thighs feel like they're seizing up, cramping. It's not a sharp focused pain but broader. I have no back pain. I feel no pain when sitting or lying down; only when standing or walking. When I do your hyperextension exercise, it hurts along a horizontal ridge above both my buttocks. I've consulted with a rehab/physical medicine doc who has prescribed naproxen 375 mg 2x/day and icing and online exercises. He thinks it's trochanter bursitis, but our appointment was by phone, so he couldn't examine me. Do you recommend I do these exercises given my symptoms? (I know you can't give me a formal diagnosis via message, but any informal counsel would be most appreciated.) Perhaps you have a video that would be more appropriate for me? Thanks so much!
I’m sorry you are uncomfortable! It would be odd to have bursitis in both hips. Does it feel better to bend forward? I know the pain is in the hips but I would wonder if the back is causing an issue. I have a video coming out today on stenosis that might help you.
No, you can't actually sleep in any of the positions doctors assume you can sleep, meaning with pillow between your legs or wherever else. They do tend to forget you're moving while you sleep, so that pillow may actually do more harm than good eventually, getting stuck underneath you. - The wall exercise works, I've did it many many times and it does wonders! You can even lift your arm that's against the wall to make more room for the hip arc. - On the chair, while sitting, also works. - There's also another move that works for me and I do it daily (at work!) is this ruclips.net/video/RC7ZseiQcVE/видео.html
Thank you Dave ng me money physical therapy charges me 20 bucks a session copay the same thing but you have some extra exercises sometimes I found to be very helpful I'm all in I have four herniated discs. And three tears in my rotor cup I found a lot of good stuff on here thank you

Yesterday (friday) I had to work and move heavy boxes I couldn't stop crying out of pain. Today I'm off and even though I'm doing a lot better it still hurts!! I hope It gets heal by Monday because I wouldn't know what to do when I get to work.
Believe it or not I've tried a million different exercises and done some with physical therapist online what they did I did and it never actually went away it may go away for a few minutes the pain but it always comes right back it sneaks up right back on me I have not been able to figure out how to get rid of it completely that would be great I thought I have to have surgery to get rid of it completely maybe I'm wrong maybe exercise would work but I've been trying and it's not taking it away 100% and that's what I'm really looking for to get rid of it completely 💯💕

Thank you! And mom is right:)
Viewed your other video on how to determine the difference between Sciatica pain and Piriformis pain and then scrolled through your videos to find this one today. Thankyou , grateful
You’re welcome! I’m glad I can help:)
Very useful info, If your back hurts life is hard. Thanks Doc.
You’re welcome 😊
I know sciatica has different levels but just getting face down in that position takes me ten minutes then it take ten for the pain to reduce to be able to move to do the next bit . Same if I stand up there is like a ten minute super pain period whilst things adjust before I can walk at all ! good video though good to know that you are not the only one with this problem, Thanks
Thanks again Doc !!!
You’re welcome!!
I ´ce tried it out in it worked like a charm
Thank you so much❤️❤️❤️🌹

Captain Morgan hope you have some answers and that you are feeling better:)
@@drkristieennis
Hi.
Captain Morgan that’s great news!
Thank you for this information. It has helped many people.
As a man with no sciatica, I still found this video very efficacious!
👍👍👍
😂😂😂
Thanx Doc, I suffer from sciatica from time to time, it can be a little more then a pain in the a----tush! All of these excercises make me feel better. Good advise from a rather hansom Lady! Thanks
You’re welcome! I’m glad these help the tush 😊
You got me with "shift happens" I am a subscriber...
Thank you 😊
They haven’t done an MRI on me yet, but they’ve told me that my pain is sciatic even though it covers the back and the front my front muscle on my upper thigh.
Thanks
Most docs recomend every 2 hours. 8 times a day if possible...
THANK YOU FOR HELPING PEOPLE AND HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄
You’re welcome! Have a merry Christmas too!
Thanks Dr Kristie. Just the thing that I wanted.
Thanks Kristie, anything that helps the back is good! Did you win the contest?.
You’re welcome! I did not win:( I’m going to look for another magazine though!
I think you’re wonderful! 🙏🏻♥️
It’s a pleasure to watch your vids. I’m ALL screwed up so I use a lot of your exercises.
Dr. Kristie,
I like your sciatica excercise video on ytube 🙏🙂
Thank you!
05:43 more natural....thank you from a former 🏴 ITU nurse. 🌹 Oh oh oh 07:26 I do this when playing my cello for a few repititions
Took a drink of water and then 2:56 and I laugh snorted, shot water out of my nose and I think my eye and now my wall is covered in snot water. Thanks, Kristie. Thanks a lot.
No idea why that “ha!” made me laugh like that.
Well that is quite the laugh!
Me too 🤣😂🤣
I ruptures 3 lumbar discs so I know all about sciatica pain.
Thanks fir sharing! I’m glad you have been able to manage without surgery:)
Sucks just walking hard... . ✌️
Thank you Dr. Kristie! love those stretches😂! i love to do them in the morning regularly !👍🇭🇷🇨🇦🫶

On my third set of injections to try and reduce the inflamation caused by S1 spinal stenosis. 🤞🏻 then i can do these exercises to keep things at bay.

My child had stem cell injection. Cured the S.I. Joint

The perfect solution for lower back pain.. .
Hi thanks I have pain n numbness in my right leg n foot
Hopefully your exercises will help
*Take 1or 2 shots tequila before exercising!*
*Yeah, feels great!!*
Well there is truth to that!
Thanks Doc.. I'll give it a try. I'm 59 and still play sports, mainly disc golf but at times my sciatica does stiffen up on me before I go work out. I do floor stretching exercises in mornings but I can add this on for my game.
I could do with some 30 second "relief"
Thank you so much Great Job Doctor
You’re welcome and thank you!

I have pretty much all the symptons you described including the leaning to one side and the pain up the back of my left leg..I will give these exercises a go carefully of course. I really appreciate the information Dr.
You’re welcome! I hope that you start to feel better soon!
I've never been in so much pain in my life. My mom wants to take me to the hospital but I don't think they'll do anything. I want to cut my entire leg off. I can't do anything without it hurting.
That’s awful! If it’s that bad, going to the doctor might be a good idea.
Thank you for your help I think I need a lot more than this exercise I’ve been doing this kind of exercise for two years and it doesn’t seem to work
You’re welcome! It might be helpful to see someone in person if you haven’t already.
how is ur sciatica.. call me if u stil have pain .. no money asking
I wish I was that pillow 😊😊
Spot on👍
these are great tips - been doing these for decades, those of us who can't take pills were forced to rely on these methods to get by in life. We could have been opiate addicts but thank God our bodies didn't allow it... And we are old but in great shape now because we use these methods over pills chemicals and becoming couch potatoes.
And they're not as big as a deal as they look when she's doing them - once you get them down they're quick. Habit
Ice, heat, ice - work out enough to lift your entire skeletal system, keep it from shrinking, losing height, or none of this will work long term.
As soon as our skeletal system starts to compress, everything goes out of whack.
Years ago, I was facing deep poverty with four kids...(yeah child supports a joke) I spent 4 months rotating heat and ice on my back cuz I HAD to work and boy, did that change my life!
Ice shrinks it back down, the heat relaxes things back into place, the ice keeps it there
You don't need to be using freezing ice locking your back - keep bags of frozen peas handy. Work your way up to it - this really seriously works. Pills will just send you to bed, make it worse and you're done.
Splitting wood, working in the yard, I will often have a frozen bag of peas down my back! I'm strengthening my back splitting wood, while the peas keep the nerves tendons and muscles from inflammation and in place
If you have to use something for mobility to get around, try avoiding canes cuz they throw you out of whack, throw off your center of balance and the body will start falling into that bad compensation habit-
stick to a walker at home
or a tall hiking stick which keeps you standing up straight, looking forward
Canes are the worst thing people use when they have an injured back. Especially when my sciatic nerve goes out.. it just pulls everything in the wrong direction, makes us lazier and worse off
Stand up!
I just want the promise of the headline. Too much yabber.
Yes I absolutely hate that, get to the point
Great exercise demonstration hopefully it will help excepting that I have toe numbness think although not burning pain it’s numbness now but those exercises look v helpful and thanks for sharing
You’re welcome! Hope they help:)
What a beautiful woman 😍
Thank you for putting this together! I sure could have used these when I had sciatica several years ago. I'll keep this in mind if I ever get it again.

I found great relief by laying on my back. I put a pillow under the lumbar region then put my laces in to the butterfly position. I slept like this for about a week and finally all the pain has been gone for over 6 months. I hope everyone finds “their” relief from this terrible pain.

Just discovered this wonderful lady
Good looking woman
This was great, been searching for "sciatica pain treatment at home" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Venayden Wanillian Method - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.
I also like to utilize the Barnes-Myofascial Release method to help with any mobility restrictions for stretching.
Great video, Thanks
Hi,did u solved your health problem? I think i got the same symptoms… maybe u can give me some tips, thank you!

I like your exercises. Love it.
Beautiful lady....and potentially a great help. Thank You.
You’re welcome!
Hopefully some of these are new to you and can make a difference!
