Hello! I maked the linear rail mod from Bootycall Jones and now I want to install the cartographer. I has flash it firmware to the USB version for K1. I haven't worked with the Linear mod. I know several people have used it in the SimpleAF community. You may find more information on the SimpleAF discord about it. Anytime you install SimpleAF you'll need to factory reset.
Hi, thanks for this video and all the teaching. I have bought all the required parts but I am stuck at the beginning, regarding the UBS Live Key. I am on Mac OS and don't know how to create this Ubuntu Desktop. Is there another way for me to proceed please? Many thanks for your help.
You don't have to buy the Cartographer3D if you already have the eddy installed and working. The end result is similar. There are more features to the Cartographer3D but if your eddy is working well then I wouldn't replace it, unless your the type who likes to upgrade for the sake of upgrading.
I assume that like the Eddy, the Cartographer installation will require that the LIDAR sensor on the K1 Max, will have to be removed and set aside. Also, for those of us using the MacOS, it seems to me that all of the firmware installations can be done directly from the computer, correct?
Yeah this probe replaces the LiDAR sensor. Which is fine because the LiDAR is mostly a gimmick. This set of instructions won't work in MacOS, you'd still need to use Ubuntu.

To use the LiDAR port on the K1 Max, a custom cable needs to be wired together for the Cartographer. It's not to hard to do. Best place to find information on this is in the SimpleAF discord.
