Wow, the level of dedication you give to your animals is impressive and laudable. If some parents cared half as much about their own biological children as you do your mink, we’d have fewer shrink cases in the world. You’ve got a great family and one day your daughter will appreciate all of this.
Yes I think most ppl wanted to see this type of video just to get introduced to new mink we haven't seen yet and also to revisit mink we haven't seen in a while such as Maher Great video 2 thumbs up.
This kind of behind-the-scenes video is as interesting (if not more so) than the hunting or walking/training-the-mink-in-the-park videos. Show more of these, please. Baby/birthing mink videos would be good, too. (How about a detailed look at your whole set-up with the tubes and different cages . . .)
Please do more videos like this!! I enjoyed watching and the "Mink Pack" playing in the back yard and your daily routines with them all. Oh, the video wasn't too long either!! Have a great day, cheers from Canada!
You might be the first person in all history to try having mink hunt as a pack. You may be starting to influence them and perhaps in subsequent generations of mink that you breed, you might start seeing pack mentality and increased sociality among your mink. That would certainly be an interesting experiment.
If that were true, that would be following the beliefs of Lamarckism, which was debunked by Darwin in his evolution theory. Animals can’t pass on acquired traits to their offspring. That would be like someone getting their arm cut off and then having their offspring born without an arm.
@@cameronmeyer4881 By making his mink more social he is changing their epigenetics, these changes can in fact be passed to their offspring. The type of change we're talking about would take many many generations to even be noticeable. As Ludwig suggested Joseph could speed up this process using eugenics (discarding the less social mink).
Take a look at our dogs. All descended from wolves at one point in human ancestry. The wolves that were aggressive were killed off. The more docile wolves that were able to be socialized around humans were bred and the line was continually sorted. Of course it took time and many generations, but they're man's best friend today. To the point where studies have been shown that humans actually get more restful sleep when dogs are with us. The same could be possible with mink as far as pack hunting goes anyway.
I loved the whole video! That’s a lot of work everyday! I don’t see how you find enough time to train minks and dogs! That’s an amazing set-up you have to keep your animals safe, happy, and trained! You keep sheep and chickens as well. You look like a kind husband and daddy. That’s so wonderful! Stay safe and well to all!
I told my husband of all the hate messages you get. He was laughing at many of them. We think you should ship the rats alive to some of these people who think killing them is wrong. Ironically I too hate that they are killed. I don't want to be a part of it but I understand the need. After $3000 in car damage from rats, losing electricity in my daughter's bedroom because they had chewed under the house wiring, they killed one of my birds by chewing through the aviary in a hidden spot and squeezing through they run across my house at night and wake us up fighting with one another. I am done! I now have a terrier I am raising to kill them but my husband is going to have to do the training to kill because even though I know it has to happen it still breaks my heart. Nature is cruel.
Life finds a way, as some say... life needs to consume life... In a way, death is life. you could use the rats to fertilize a garden, to return them to nature.
Others could sell the rats if they have no use for them as fertilizer... if they don't use poison to kill/trap the rats. I'm glad Emma is using a dog, despite how she feels. Don't forget, we are animals too, and we are perhaps the most cruel no matter how hard we try not to be... We still drive things to extinction just by growing...
Jen DragonLover That is true. Can look at it this way though, we are capable of having such an negative impact means we are capable of having the same magnitude of a positive impact. Go Elon Musk! And other eco friendly visionaries of the world 💪🏻 yea!
We love your videos, you are doing a wonderful job with minks. The rats in your farm must be exterminated, you are doing nothing wrong. As we all know extermination is a very lucrative business in the states and their method is more cruel than yours.
I like this. It may be normal daily routine for You but I have never seen stuff like this before. Also, if You have problem with wasps nests. My uncle used to put up a toy windmill near the nest because they dislike the tiny vibrations and leave.
Thats a genius idea of ur uncle. In greece when ur on island with lots of wasps we have plates with coffe powder that we burn a bit with a lighter. Wasps hate that smell
Awesome name though nowhere near as awesome as the concept. REALLY looking forward to the possibility of seeing Joseph hunt with several of them at the same time.
Gotta love when you’re trying to do something and that’s when kids demand your attention. It’s been almost 40 years and I can still remember being a little kid and doing that to my mom when she was on the phone. Oh well. Kids.... Great video. It’s good to see all the work that goes into keeping mink along with the exciting parts of hunting. Thank you.
PLEASE make more of these kinds of videos! I love seeing how you take care of them! Also, this kind of content can help you prove you really know what you are doing to all the people who say you are cruel and such.
I loved this video! I've been watching your channel for a while now, but never commented. I love seeing the way you take care of the mink as best as you can with what you have. They look healthy and happy. I really would love to see your channel grow and hope that all stays well for you, your family and, of course, the mink!
How about a graphic showing all your mink and how they're related? How about a vid about the "life of the wife of the mink man?" What's it like? Does your wife have a mink of her own? Looks like you live in town, problems with neighbors? Any plans to move into the country? Is pest extermination lucrative enuf to live on? How can we help u increase earnings on utube? Goals? Dreams?
I was thinking these exact same things! Challenges with fam, do you have to hide some things from the neighbors, are the neighbors renters? Do they blame their dog's fleas on your animals? City codes normally prohibit so many animals and the city people don't normally know what the code is until a neighbor complains.... then they look it up and you have to move all your animals under the house for 6 months... well that's just what I heard
Thanks Joseph. Great insight into how the minks are cared for and stimulated when not out hunting. Enjoy your videos and thanks for taking the time to share them. Cheers, from G in the East Midlands, UK👍🏻
I enjoyed all of your videos but that one was very informative I liked it a lot. I really enjoy your family as well. Your wife is very sweet and Olive is just a dolly!
One of the reasons I admire about you a lot, how you show your passion and love to your daughter even unconsciously in small things here and there. God bless you and bless your family and grant you everlasting happiness
Awesome!! You are a great young man, you really inspire with your vids and your minks.. Love the direction GOD, is taking your life, and i enjoy your content.. Keep up the good work, i guarantee you will inspire other young people to follow suit.. Thank you.....👍😇
It is so interesting how you know all your minks' individual personalities and temperaments. I almost would not believe it if I did not see it my own eyes. Joseph Carter, you have been blessed by God!
Sir, I sincerely do not mean any offense to you or your amazing wife, I have to say though that you have become the measuring stick for men I'm considering dating. You are comfortable in your own skin in an incredibly attractive way. Your balance of masculinity and gentleness is admirable. Again, please take no offense as I intend my comments to be complimentary. Thank you for your incredible videos and I hope all the best for you and your beautiful family.
Love seeing all you do with you're beautiful mink. These videos are most awesome in so many ways, learning for future training of our own mink, how to handle them, and learning to feed, with everyday life of owning a mink. Also, mink are such a beautiful, yet cunning animal, these videos show so eloquently. Love the family participation.
I understand better with the work in the shade, how you get so many of these small turbulent and very active animals. ^^ Your passion and your love for them is reflected in all your videos . For 2 months and a half that I saw a video by chance, I subscribed because you managed to interest me to your passion, and I watch all your new videos. Continue to share! Bruno from the South of France
Hey Joe, can I suggest that you get a pair of good quality leather gloves with kevlar liner inside? I have a pair that I bring everywhere with me, and in the fall / winter I'll especially have them in a back pocket of my jeans where ever I go every single day. Many bikers or people within law enforcement use these particular gloves. Since they are tight fitting around the hand you'd have no problem putting on a minks harness while being fully protected from cuts or puncture wounds of almost any kind. Just thought I'd share this with you because I wouldn't want to see you get an infection from a bite or a cut.. Gotta keep your hands protected. Take care Here's the particular ones that I have on Amazon but I bought mine from a military surplus store - www.amazon.com/Damascus-DFK300-Frisker-Leather-Resistant/dp/B001B8JXSU
I absolutely LOVE your videos. You're a great teacher and an interesting fellow, and it's obvious how hard you work. It's beautiful to see you all together doing your thing! Thank you for sharing your passion with the world.
Toothless is huge as well, although toothless never got tame enough to hand bare handed( only on rare occasions ) , not sure if the airplane ride traumatized him but hes probabbly somewhere between bear and piranha you can sometimes pet him bare handed if hes tired or just waking up, or after a long play session when tired, I think next year I will pick one up in person and hopefully keep him relaxed from day 1.. he does like to play wrestle but a gardeners leather glove is required, blow on him and he stops biting hard but its only a matter of time before hes biting way to hard for bare skin, Also I feed him out of hand for most meals but randomly if hes hungry ( hes always hungry) he will hit your hand thinking its food and bite thought the glove and your finger and try to pull it away before realizing its not his food.. hes super food aggressive, hes quite funny that way, you open the cage when hes hungry and he launches out of the cage and tries to climb you.. he does like to go out for walks and your one pice leash works great for that...
Although i do think he would be a good hunter I will have to try it with him, he does latch on to some toys and sinks his teeth into them and wont let go for nothing you can pick him up, move im around and hes locked onto that toy and wont let go for nothing, i dont think a muskrat would do vary well agiainst him, ill have to try and weight him and shoot you antother video
I am new to your videos and I just wanted to say they are awesome. You can tell that you are great person for time and effort you put it with these animals as well as maintaining your channel and making new videos. Something else I noticed is you try and answer all of the viewer questions. If more people in the world were as caring and dedicated as you, the world would definitely be a better place. Keep up the great work
Would enjoy seeing you talk about and demonstrate the anatomy of a mink. Of course with one of your nicer animals. I’m curious about their claws, teeth and head shape and whatever else makes mink a great rat hunter. Does their elongated body help them somehow? They look like snakes when chasing each other through their maze cage.
The days of free flights are long gone I got a brother who is airline pilot even he can’t do much. Used to be able to fly jumpseat but the dam airlines nipped that perk long ago buddy, best you could hope for us somebody who does not mind giving you there frequent miles will discount most of ticket price, wishing you the best my friend. Cheers
you can get guest passes, we use them all the time through a friend, they are free for the ticket but you just pay the tax to the airport, usually 100$ ...
Joseph Carter the Mink Man my experience is buddy passes are basically tickets given for airline mistakes and then sometimes they go unused by the people holding them. I’m guilty of that myself, not very many people have them and you just have to catch someone holding one willing to give it to you free or very cheep. Good luck my friend. Very much enjoy your videos
Dude, you're so awesome. I live for this type of stuff. Seeing how you cultivate the natural instincts of mink to not only benefit you but also themselves in being satisfying
Excellent growing really well I am so glad I found your Channel watching and supporting my fellow RUclipsrs although you have an extra special animal that you raise they are cute and quite good Hunters you always get a thumbs-up from me great job man you treat them like family and that's good😎
I flew in to West Virginia on a little tiny plane the guy next to me across the aisle was sleeping when the landing gear was coming down and it made terrible noises and I got to see what that guy looks like when he truly believes he's about to die
I have to admit that I was skeptical at first about someone raising so many mink and dogs. After watching this video, I admit that I was wrong about those worries. You manage the dogs and mink so well...feeding, washing, teaching... Amazing job!! Keep up the great work!!
I really liked this! The Mink hunting videos are cool but it's nice getting to see the animals and their personalities and see some of the Mink that haven't had much camera time for a while!
Wyattistrash I’m assuming around the same way u tell the difference between zebras , size, pattern , face markings and such along which keeping them in the same enclosures constantly
When you have animals long enough you will be able to tell them apart, even if they are the same color, you will start to notice differences in the face shape, body shape, and size. I have 11 German White Shepherds right now and I can tell all of them apart by their body shape and face shape. I can also tell my chickens apart, I have 81 and almost half of them have a name. I can tell my rabbits apart the same way.
I actually rotate their enclosures once or twice a week so they each get a chance to be in a different place. I recognize them by the shape of their face, size of their body, and if they have any white spots on their chin or neck that really helps a lot, but most of my mink are pure black without any white spots.
you should one video where you give us a tour of all your cages and introduce us to evert single one of your mink you could make it a 2 part video if it would be too long.
Stumbled upon your videos while diving the depths of RUclips and find them absolutely fascinating. Especially love watching you use them as natural pest control and how they work with your dogs. Brilliant strategy. Hope the Mink hunting pack works out as that will be crazy to see in action.
I re-read your question. Many attempts, but no I've never had one of my mink kill another one yet. I assume it's going to happen eventually. Mink LOVE to fight!
I love watching your videos, especially with the patience you have. Even with cute Olive stepping in the video, you so calmly and kindly make her aware of the camera. You should teach boys how to be men too.
Do minks hunt in packs or does that not work? Would be interesting to see a couple minks hunting down some rats together. But it's probably impossible to ceep track of all of them.
Really interesting to see your set-up, and your daily routine re care, exercise, training etc. Great to see that that you are able to provide a living for your lovely family by doing something that you love and by sharing it with us lot. Good luck with all your endeavours and long may it continue.
Jen DragonLover Well after seeing a couple of the non-imprinted youngsters I must respectfully disagree.Piranha would definitely benefit from that harnessing tube. I should say Joseph would benefit from piranha using the harness tube👍
Ten years in the wild. Joseph takes good care of these mink -- they don't ever miss a meal, and their living quarters are kept clean. They likely live a while longer under his care.
@@BUSHCRAPPING keep in mind, im no expert on this subject, but i disagree. I think that the reason a mink would die early is because it is weakened by external circumstances -- particularly illness/malnourishment. If the mink has to hunt to keep itself fed in a weakened state, it may be killed by its prey. I think that the act of keeping the mink clean & fed is enough to keep it alive significantly longer than the average wild mink.
Are you worried you are getting too many mink and spreading yourself too thin? Maybe limiting yourself to like 6-8 that you can work with and train everyday might be more efficient?
Nice to see , I like knowing how to medically treat the mink, and your injuries that happen handling and hunting The time of year and upkeep for then is nice to track, and special circumstances, you know the stuff, you're vids are good
Really good video man you might think it's not interesting because it's just your daily routine but watching you take care of every mink differently was really amazing, knowing what they like and how to approach them was really interesting.
What a lot of work ! Must be rewarding though. Great to see all the mink. Looks like a full time job! I admire your passion. Keep up the videos! Btw Canadians love your videos too !
I loved this video because your family (mink and humans) are awesome. More, please! (I can't believe you do all of this before you go to your bank job!)
Other than the ratting and muskrat videos I think I liked this one almost as much. I loved seeing all the different mink instead of just one or two.
Wow, the level of dedication you give to your animals is impressive and laudable. If some parents cared half as much about their own biological children as you do your mink, we’d have fewer shrink cases in the world. You’ve got a great family and one day your daughter will appreciate all of this.
I like your videos...but this one made me smile so big..love seeing them play together.

You might be the first person in all history to try having mink hunt as a pack. You may be starting to influence them and perhaps in subsequent generations of mink that you breed, you might start seeing pack mentality and increased sociality among your mink. That would certainly be an interesting experiment.
Like the River Otters, and if they ever achieve such a thing, we can try to introduce them into rural areas to hunt vermin.
He might be making history! 0_0

Excellent growing really well I am so glad I found your Channel watching and supporting my fellow RUclipsrs although you have an extra special animal that you raise they are cute and quite good Hunters you always get a thumbs-up from me great job man you treat them like family and that's good😎
Remember to feed the cages, they need to grow to keep up with your minks :D
I think he knows what he’s doing.
awesome video, the amount of dedication and time and patience u have for mink is unbelievable
I flew in to West Virginia on a little tiny plane the guy next to me across the aisle was sleeping when the landing gear was coming down and it made terrible noises and I got to see what that guy looks like when he truly believes he's about to die
LOL
I watched almost the entire video without realizing how long it was. Great video! Please make more.
its cage feeding season
Awesome Video!
Thanks for sharing!
It’s great to see your set up and how much work it really is!
20:01 What was that face he pulled! it's so cute but it's almost like him saying "No!"
I loved seeing all the minks, thanks for sharing that. It’s a lot of work.
that smile :D 6:54 pls do more like this, i really enjoyed it
Found your channel a couple of days ago and have spent hours and hours watching with fascination. Subbed with notifications now.
nice vid bro love ur vids
I have to admit that I was skeptical at first about someone raising so many mink and dogs. After watching this video, I admit that I was wrong about those worries. You manage the dogs and mink so well...feeding, washing, teaching... Amazing job!! Keep up the great work!!
Cool video
Great to see ways you are interacting with and working with these mink. Thanks for sharing these hidden details.
(Maher) means skilled and professional in Arabic 😉
I really liked this! The Mink hunting videos are cool but it's nice getting to see the animals and their personalities and see some of the Mink that haven't had much camera time for a while!
How do you tell the difference between the mink
Wyattistrash I’m assuming around the same way u tell the difference between zebras , size, pattern , face markings and such along which keeping them in the same enclosures constantly
They have small white spots or some other minor patterns on their fur. It's easier to see that up close than on the video.
By the number of times they bite him. ;)
Joe you do a great job of raising all your animals great dedication good job
you should one video where you give us a tour of all your cages and introduce us to evert single one of your mink you could make it a 2 part video if it would be too long.
Stumbled upon your videos while diving the depths of RUclips and find them absolutely fascinating.
Especially love watching you use them as natural pest control and how they work with your dogs. Brilliant strategy. Hope the Mink hunting pack works out as that will be crazy to see in action.
Have you ever had a mink attempt or actually kill another mink
Lots and lots of times.
Jennifer M wow.
How hard is it to take care of a mink in general?
**just asking**
Very very very hard
How hard is it to train a mink
Just look at how active they are, they are on the go non stop.
Well they are pretty active so it must be hard
At the end of the day, they are wild animals. Not pets.
Awesome... Love the vid... Especially with them running around in the yard, swimming & cutting loose for sibling fun...
I love your videos and the minks are so cute like if you love the minks and the videos
Great insight into how much work it really takes you to take these wild animals to something trained and hunting for you you're an amazing dude!
You have really nice mink cage
I'm so immersed in your videos. You're a great inspiration to just work hard at your passion.
Do minks hunt in packs or does that not work?
Would be interesting to see a couple minks hunting down some rats together.
But it's probably impossible to ceep track of all of them.
It isn't natural at all, so it will be complicated to pull off!
The are lone hunters... Mostly. They won't hunt as pack due to competition for prey. They'll literally fight to get the prey or take it away.
i love all your videos. And ones like these I enjoy just as much as the hunt.
i feel like piranha reminds me of washushe with how she acts so think she could b him reincarnated
Same here, then I thought what if Washushe could have had offspring with Piranha. Those babies would have incredible.
Great video. I love how well you care for them and make us aware of the pros and cons of handling and owning mink.
Do mink have a vaccine regiment like a dog would?
He must use something for rabies
yes they do
Really interesting to see your set-up, and your daily routine re care, exercise, training etc. Great to see that that you are able to provide a living for your lovely family by doing something that you love and by sharing it with us lot. Good luck with all your endeavours and long may it continue.
What about that tube you made in the past that the Mink crawls through that automatically harnessed the Mink❓❓❓
The harnessing tube? I doubt he uses it on any of his mink now, none of these seem to be as aggressive as Washushe was.
Jen DragonLover Well after seeing a couple of the non-imprinted youngsters I must respectfully disagree.Piranha would definitely benefit from that harnessing tube. I should say Joseph would benefit from piranha using the harness tube👍
Love how you know all their needs and characters 😊
Why do you have onley black minks ps im from Germany
Black and brown mink are more healthy than the other colors. So I only have black and brown mink.
thank you for the insight into how the mink get housed and exercised and the feeding info was also great to know.
What’s the life expectancy or how long they live in years in a mink
10
Ten years in the wild. Joseph takes good care of these mink -- they don't ever miss a meal, and their living quarters are kept clean. They likely live a while longer under his care.
Between 7-10 years but some can live up to 15 with proper care and feeding.
@@Fryiffy the working mink will likely not live as long as a pet would. Just a fact of life. Same with dogs and ferrets
You are awesome!! Keep kicking butt!!
Are you worried you are getting too many mink and spreading yourself too thin? Maybe limiting yourself to like 6-8 that you can work with and train everyday might be more efficient?
I was in the Marines for 4 years, then went hunting non stop after I got out, been enjoying this channel.
Behind the scenes are always a change of pace, they give us an extra insight to what goes on
You guys are adorable and I loved the morning routine video. Would love to see more!!
Watching this guy cures my depression! Mad love to Joseph carter
Nice to see , I like knowing how to medically treat the mink, and your injuries that happen handling and hunting
The time of year and upkeep for then is nice to track, and special circumstances, you know the stuff, you're vids are good
Really good video man you might think it's not interesting because it's just your daily routine but watching you take care of every mink differently was really amazing, knowing what they like and how to approach them was really interesting.
Love your videos. Very entertaining. Your dedication to these animals is really impressive. Thank you for sharing what you do with the world.
I LOVE HOW YOU CAN TELL ALL UR MINK APART I LOVE UR RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM ❤️❤️❤️
I saw a video of a mink farm and it looked like they never got exercise/play time...I’m glad you take good care of yours!
Love to watch you train your mink and dogs another great video Joseph
What a lot of work ! Must be rewarding though. Great to see all the mink. Looks like a full time job! I admire your passion. Keep up the videos! Btw Canadians love your videos too !
I loved this video because your family (mink and humans) are awesome. More, please! (I can't believe you do all of this before you go to your bank job!)
I do like the video. It is intriguing seeing their playfulness. Good luck on getting more harmony with your groups of minks.
