Guys I'm going to be honest, I clicked on this video because I genuinely thought these guys hung all the sheep by their feet upside down just so they can shear them. That is cruelty
Yes there is. These folks probably just want to get it done fast so they can shear the next one. I've seen sheep sheared in many parts of the world. In Iceland they were so careful and if they nic a sheep they treat them right away.
I used to think that shearing causes no pain, just some discomfort from the sheep being held down. But if you pause this video at minute 1:08, you will notice 3 cuts left by the shearing process on a sheep that had just left the mill.
Yeah - this normal in the wool industry. Sheeps are actually a very kind and caring animal. I know people who has sheeps as pets on the contry side. These sheeps are cared for, hugged, hand fed, played with and the love when they get their whool cut. They stand still and enjoy being cared for and are not hurt in any way - just like a dog getting their fur combed and cut ❤
I want to recommend you a channel called right choice shearing. It's this lady who shears sheep in small Texas farms. There you can see how shearing should actually be done. The wounds and bleeding you see on the sheep here isn't normal the people weren't careful at all. Sadly for domesticated sheep shearing is inevitable, if they don't get their coats off they run the risk of wool blindness, overheating and so on.

@@SaraanSarangi only the shearing can hurt the animal. When you shear by hand, you use big, sharp sheep shears, which are basically huge scissors. To be honest, this looks safer. Because.. pinching a sheep with one of those might do more than draw blood.
This makes me never want to buy wool/wool products/etc from non-homestead sellers. I cant imagine how many companies probably have farms that treat their animals (I was raised on a farm, with goats, chickens, and cattle. I never personally had sheep but my mom did). @John Everyman I genuinely think you need to see a psychiatrist. It sounds to me like you might be suffering from sociopathy or psychopathy. People who don’t care about animals, develop feelings of not caring for other people. It’s dangerous and destructive. You need help. Your sick.
I grew up in a shearing town. Most of the shearer’s I knew shore competitively and were amazing but there were still a few that were just doing it for the money. They never lasted long as they wouldn’t be rehired. This footage looks like Australia and not on shearing day just to film. When they’re shearing they’ll be doing thousands. I work in the oil and gas industry now days and would far rather buy woollen clothing than synthetic. The thumbnail that wasn’t shown in video could also be in Norway. They don’t shear them there until they go to the meat plant.
I have a friend who owns a small hobby farm with a couple dozen sheep. They're mostly pets but they do sheer them and sell their wool to a place that processes it. She says they're so frisky when they get sheered, like they're suddenly so much lighter and feel so much better. Sometimes they'll run in circles and start playing.
sheep are very docile sweet animals who don't have to be treated this badly I will never wear wool, cotton grows on a plant my mom picked tons of cotton growing up that's what I wear & use
Most traditional sheep farmers handle their sheep with love and care and hand-shear them. They try very hard to not nic or cut the sheep and don’t do cruel things. This is a very sad and poor example of sheering and honestly should be shut down. Regular sheep farmers really need support right now though so instead of not buying any just buy from small owners (:
Not sure who taught them how to sheer but they did a horrible job! 1. A good shearer would not treat the animals that roughly and 2. There are so many second cuts on the wool, they are rendering it absolutely useless.
But dear u know one survey Conclude that there will be more then 85% meat eaters in india and would be the number two meat exporter in world at 2035...

That is so sad. The employee are so careless on harvesting the wool on the sheep. I hope the owner will treat the cut from wool harvesting. I can see the cut are huge and some not so big but it is bleeding.
The cuts that I saw are superficial and will not be treated by the rancher, they will heal in about 2 days and leave no scar. Really deep cuts may require stitching and that is the shearer's responsibility. I've sheared 16 years and I've had to sew a few up, sometimes they will kick at the wrong moment and accidents happen. I don't like cutting them anymore than any of you here. Any shearer that says he hasn't cut a sheep or never had to stitch one up is a liar. But the cuts in the video are on the "money side" and there is no excuse for cuts there. Likely his comb is too sharp and he doesn't want to stop and "point" his comb because the money is really good. 300 sheep shorn in one day = $500
It is one of the hardest of all jobs. A shearer gets in really good shape and it's NEVER boring. But I made more money in 3 months than my brother did all year as a union welder. Current world record is 731 ewes in 9 hours.
i have grown to hate the human race. the older i get, the more intense the hate. it's hard to live with such hate but how can you excuse horrific animal abuse. and i mean in the factory farms. this is bad too but the factory farm is holocaust. i'm ashamed to part of the human race.
It's hard to explain but most animals are different than us when it comes to tolerance and strength. A majority of humans have become more gentle living in safer and cushioned environments so our tolerance in evolution has gone down and to get back up we need to build it individually. Sheep are part of the animal kingdom that still live in the outdoors all their life on the earth full of hard minerals. You will see the difference if you put one human in normal housing circumstance and one out in the wild to fend for themselves. If you bring them together years later there will be a significant difference in mentality and physical attributes (even if the normal society human works out and lifts weights it will still be different due to the experiences) HOWEVER, them cutting the sheep to where it bleeds is not supposed to happen.
@@TornSilencio it was the getting so close that they bleed and how they would grab them and drag them by the neck. That’s not a good thing to do to any living thing.
Sheep are a lot more tough. Most farms are way worse about it too. By the way, the sheep was not bleeding from handling. It was small nicks from the razor. I remember shaving a sheep at my grandparents ranch. Their skin is full of folds so it’s really easy to nick. Ps, that wasn’t rough because you need to hold a sheep down or else it will kick and buck and get nicks from the razor. They did it in a really safe way.

i am pretty sure the sheep does not live in that small area. Animals like this are gathered to a small space when ppl are about to "work" with them. Just imagine collecting them from a huge field! It would be a slow work, which would never get done. And if you watched carefully, you see, that when they were sheared, they were released into a wide area.

Well now I'm really glad I rarely get wool yarn and when I do, it's all local. that poor sheep had cuts EVERYWHERE and the shearer had so many second cuts but didn't care. I watch a traveling shearer who takes her time to get smooth blankets and makes every effort to ensure the sheep, llama or alpaca is safe and comfortable the whole time. But the guys in these clips were awful, I don't care how many you have to do, those sheep can deal with waiting if it means they won't get practically butchered to get sheared
I think I know who you're talking about and she's AMAZING!

Local and quality should be favored over cheap and poor quality but we live in a capitalist world where people would rather vote for Rich buisness Man instead of people Who are knowledgable and care about the wellbeing of the people rather than developpement. We need to come back to our sources rather than cheap materialism were poor people are used to make the Rich more Rich and the poor more poor .

Is there a way to shear the sheeps without causing skin injury? I saw a red floor meaning they were cut and hurt during the exercise.
there sure is! a good shearer doesn't cut sheep like this, a nick at the most
Yes there is. These folks probably just want to get it done fast so they can shear the next one. I've seen sheep sheared in many parts of the world. In Iceland they were so careful and if they nic a sheep they treat them right away.

Yea absolutely there is. Yhis is horrible
there is a way, and it takes care and patience, which apparently the professional industry doesn't care enough to consider
I used to think that shearing causes no pain, just some discomfort from the sheep being held down. But if you pause this video at minute 1:08, you will notice 3 cuts left by the shearing process on a sheep that had just left the mill.
it shouldnt, and given the injuries they should have been sprayed ... which they were not.
Because this is factory. Everything animal factory related is soulless, no thought for animals.

Great video!!! God has truly given men and women so much wisdom and knowledge to make clothes. He created the sheep and mankind to make clothes for people all over the world. Please be more careful with the sheep, they are making you money!!!
That is so sad. The employee are so careless on harvesting the wool on the sheep. I hope the owner will treat the cut from wool harvesting. I can see the cut are huge and some not so big but it is bleeding.
Larry Oswald it is near impossible not to nick sheep even when crutching them with hand shears
Big Ears there’s a big difference between a nick and a cut almost down its whole side!
300 sheep shorn in one day = $500
stephen coleman 300? Hard way to earn a living.
It is one of the hardest of all jobs. A shearer gets in really good shape and it's NEVER boring. But I made more money in 3 months than my brother did all year as a union welder. Current world record is 731 ewes in 9 hours.
Humans are cruel....the way they are treating these poor animals breaks my hear💔
i have grown to hate the human race. the older i get, the more intense the hate. it's hard to live with such hate but how can you excuse horrific animal abuse. and i mean in the factory farms. this is bad too but the factory farm is holocaust. i'm ashamed to part of the human race.
Why were they being so rough?? They should be so much more gentle!!
If you bring them together years later there will be a significant difference in mentality and physical attributes (even if the normal society human works out and lifts weights it will still be different due to the experiences)
HOWEVER, them cutting the sheep to where it bleeds is not supposed to happen.
@@TornSilencio it was the getting so close that they bleed and how they would grab them and drag them by the neck. That’s not a good thing to do to any living thing.
Yes!!! They can actually be fast and thorough without being g so rough, brutal and psychotic...

@@juliagu6165 please be gone
Its selective breeding, God had nothing to do with it. It comes from the domestication and animal husbandry techniques of man.

Jaikarran Singh Lol yee
@Katjiez they will
What do you think they're doing you idiot
i don't know. but can you guys just shave them properly. some of the sheeps are wounded after you shaved them.
No matter how gentle you are there will be nicks
The sheep actually produce lanolin which help heal the nicks really fast.
Thats just the skin colour dont worry my g, Its all good
Im sad cause when they cut the wool they leave the sheeps injured with blood stains on the wooden floor
