I'll never forget an impulse purchase of 10 spore syringes from a friend of a friend.. absolutely nothing came from any of them. Sure, it could have been me, but... it wasn't.
Spores are also very robust, even when they are degraded. I had a spore syringe once that I had bought from one of the larger companies; completely clear liquid. I kept it for years in the fridge and it still worked. I checked under the microscope to see the density of the spores after maybe 4 years, and found maybe 3 or 4 spores. All the others had germinated and there were mycelium strands all over. I tried inoculating popcorn with it, and it worked perfectly. Saw growth after a week or so.
In this case most of the spores had already germinated to mycelium, and thus your syringe had essentially become a medium for long-term water storage. They can last for decades this way. Not the spores, but the mycelium.
Hi, complete noob here, thank you for these videos. Will you also do one on inoculation and agar work? It's clear enough it's better to inoculate spore syringes to agar first unless these are yours and fresh, and it would be great to see you explaining just that, syringes and prints, clear and simple as you do, in the SAB!
Great show man. For real on swabs, I agree they should be very light. I swab so light it looks like salt and pepper. The dark loaded ones are from a heavy hand and often contain gill tissue or bacteria. Sometimes when I want multiple di-mon pairs I will drop a dikaryon agar chunk in a jar and snip off a swab end on top and let em do their thing for a pheno hunt. This don't work with loaded swabs that were jammed in the gills like a screwdriver
Let me clarify I don't put the swab tip in til 10 percent growth from the dikaryon so the new spores contact the expanding dikaryon and have a chance to pair with it.
Beginner here. I have bought soooo much equipment including spore syringes with zero luck. I recently put Gt's and Tsu to Lc to agar and to grains The lc looks fuzz with dark spots floating around and agar, I have no idea what I'm seeing! As much as I love your videos the problem is usually when I need help it's immediately. ✌️🍁
It’s really getting ridiculous. People who always ordered spore syringes and do their own for the first time are going to think something is wrong with their syringes and don’t work. I usually only put 1/8 of a spore print into a syringe and it’s perfectly fine. The water is basically clear, you can maybe see some spore clumps if you look very closely. Anything more just increases the chance for contamination.
That’s definitely a big part of the battle when you’re starting out especially. Check out my affiliate in the description for a 10% discount, plus I will be launching a store very soon with high quality, no-fuss materials.
I just made a spore syringe with a print i made 5 years ago. Month and a half and i have 3 shoe boxes full of shroomies. On the 4th flush now. Never have i had problems with spore syringes and thats all ive ever used. I make my spore syringes black. 😂
Black syringes certainly can work as I state in the video, it’s just wholly unnecessary and you would lessen chances of potential contamination by using less to no detriment. But it certainly can work, but it doesn’t work because it’s a thick syringe but largely due to other factors as explained in the video.

Less is more for spore juice. One spore print can make 2000ml of potent spore juice.

@Mycophilia yeah i know it's over kill 😄
Where did u get the print from...cow dung?
I'm new to mycology. I've been going through different vendors for liquid cultures. Who are the vendors to avoid?
Also, do you have a video recommendation for how to make clean spore syringes?
Not yet
I haven't heard anything about the age of spores. As a matter of fact I heard that year old spores work just fine.
A year is nothing, but bad storage will hurt the virility greatly. On average, expect the virility of your spores to go down by about 50% per year.
Mush love
Sooo, how much spores then? Is like, a square centimeter of a dark print enough for 10 cc of spore solution?
@@RebelionFiscal yes that’s enough

Very eager to know what vendors where contam city so I can avoid 😅

You should ideally not have any gobs before inoculating
Stop using spores it is too damn easy to make a clean healthy LC that is weeks further then any damn spore mistake you are attempting.
LC is for noobs and commercial growers. Rarely anything in between.
Or gourmet.
