Very well done review. I30 N would be my choice simply because of the exhaust note, warranty, and better shift action with the manual. Personal preference though. Nothing wrong with the Focus ST.
Well for me at least its not fair. Who track tested these cars and I for one has driven both and I would any day pick the new ST when it comes to attacking tracks, it had much better traction mid corner, resisted under steer by making sweet drifts although steering felt kind of over boosted and numb at times and it had much better mid rpm power ie in 2000-5000 rpm it pulled much harder than the Hyundai as well, sure the new ST is not perfect and for the asking price its in no way a bargain, but that said I felt the ST any day is a faster machine specially on long tracks I ve tracked the new ST at Serres Racing Circuit Greece and we had i30N Per cars too that day on circuit. Even with my novice driving style I was doing 1:33.xx in the new ST while I barely managed 1:34.5xx with the i30N. We tried 4 hot laps when Powermax racing academy let us do it and the i30N Perf tried its best to break the 1:34s which it couldnt do at all while the ST flt like it could break into 1:32s if it had the optional MPSC2 tires. Also found this on web for further reference www.zeperfs.com/en/duel6770-7980.htm Also in most of the above track tests, they were done on same day with same driver and almost similar climatic conditions.

@@popsandbangs8858 Even if it is,..it is not gonna beat the ST.. See I ve driven both and I dont need to lie here and despite my Pony Logo I am not a Ford fanboy I drove them at Zolder and I immediately felt the Ford had better traction specially at corner exits , corner entry of Hyundai is better , the Hyundai has more biting front end too but once the cars front loads the diff of hyundai quickly snaps to under steer, the Fords front bites slower but once hooked the diff is able to resist understeer better than the hyundai and exits corners at slightly higher speeds than the Hyundai. I also agree that the Hyundai has a slightly more feelsome steering than the Ford which was a surprise cuz Hyundais steerings usually are too light and life less ones, but overall if one has good weather the Ford any days is faster than i30N perf. In very tight short tracks the i30N perf will ve the advantage
I think this is the only track test i30 wins over Focus ST...feeling was i30 was gonna win from the first sentence to the last..sorry mate. I'll go with the ST..
Got to agree with this statement.........They already had the winner before they started the comparison.....Oh and yes I have the MK4 ST........Don't get me wrong I think the i30N is a great car, but for what I want out of a performance car, the ST was my choice.
@@popsandbangs8858 Boring mate, That is not expanding, that is just another link which you have posted, which I can't be bothered to click onto. You don't seem to have an opinion of your own? I see you just like to post links to other videos, and then make sweeping statements that the i30N is the better car......You clearly just do that for a reaction!!!!! Your opinion, I say different......Take care.
Why the repeated mention of 'track use' for the Hyundai warranty? Ford would also warrant following track use, just like they would warrant a Ranger Raptor if you went off roading, its all about the design purpose of the vehicle. Clear skew towards the Hyundai.
Again agree, My invoice price for a new ST in black with PP, HUD and wireless charger was less that £26,000..........Was actually £20 per month less than I was paying on my MK3.5 ST that I traded it in for (On PCP over 3 years ).
No mention of what settings were used during the lap times, was the Focus in Sport or Track mode and what individual settings were used on the i30N. No actual video of the actual lap with the stop watch going. How many laps were done in each car etc etc.....Anyone can post a result with no actual evidence of what happened. Again though as I say I think both cars are great, and the i30N will only get better as the years go by.....Where will the ST go from here???

Love both hot hatches so much but I think the St just edges over the i30N. The Mk4 St looks so good
Another win for the i30 N

The focus st is BY FAR the better looking car from outside especially with that fury orange colour .
Look like a bad copy of it

Compare non sunroof with non sunroof. Track times of the Focus would suffer thanks to the sunroof. Should be mentioned.
Ford Focus is much better car in terms of power, appearance and handling
Also comparing base N to standard Focus (more features) in price is a bit misleading. The cars are basically the same price spec for spec.

How is it possible people in the industry still can't pronounce Hyundai properly? It's not that hard.
Must be driving the ford wrong.

a 2.3l can't be compared with a 2.0l , torque is much différent...
