Because it may represent the end of UNC-TV to change its final broadcast on the video you are watching. North Carolina is the home of Public TV including PBS and now, it’s the right thing for UNC-TV to change. No more BS, just a change for the next generation for viewers at NC. 😀
It was bound to happen, and it kind of makes sense. The new name de-emphasizes "TV" as everything transitions to digital media. It's now the "University of North Carolina Center for Public Media" instead of "Television".

This was by far THE WORST rebrand of the PBS stations I’ve seen. There have been some Ok ones, like WYES, where, outside of the font and wording change to WYES PBS… not much changed. There were BAD examples, like WNED and KUHT, which, in the case of the latter, since they got rid of their 2001 orbiting 8 logo, has NOT produced a good logo. And then You had those that were an outright DISGRACE. This one (UNC-TV to PBS NC) falls into that category. IN MY OPINION: Whoever were the idiots that decided to ditch the Hurricane eye logo that was first used in circa 1977, better have been fired, or need to be fired if they are still there. This is an absolute disgrace of a logo, and I think the Hurricane eye needs to come back ASAP.

PBS just redesign the logo in 2019 so PBS want all affiliates to bring the new logo.
