Something tells me you don’t know too much about WTKR’s history! They were on top from sign-on until the 1980s… at that point, WAVY had success with The Daily News and Belo invested a lot in WVEC after purchasing Corinthian. WTKR got too comfortable and didn’t see the competition coming. The station’s downfall stems from March 28, 1985 when they fired Sandra Kelly, Stan Garfin and others in an attempt to revitalize the sleepy image the station’s newscasts had. Through the late 80s into the 2000s, WTKR experienced low ratings and high turnover… ownership changes (Knight-Ridder>Naragansett>NY Times>Local TV LLC) except for a period in the early 90s where they had some success. I’d say WTKR’s improved greatly in the past decade. As for the standardized graphics and Scrippscasts, etc. that’s just a symptom of an industry-wide struggle.
@@Jean0987654321 Hey, you aggressive people! Let's see if you can give death threats to Sinclair, Tegna, Scripps, Nexstar, Gray, and all other broadcasting companies and harrass the viewers who watch stations owned and/or operated by a particular company!
