Research suggests that individuals who have experienced trauma may be more likely to have certain COMT genotypes, such as the Met (Methionine) variant.
Studies have found that individuals with a history of trauma, such as childhood abuse or neglect, are more likely to have the Met/Met genotype, which is associated with lower COMT enzyme activity. This may contribute to difficulties in regulating stress and emotions, potentially leading to mental health issues like depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
The Val (Valine) variant, on the other hand, has been linked to resilience and better stress coping abilities, which may help individuals bounce back from traumatic experiences.
It's important to note that the relationship between COMT genotypes, trauma, and mental health outcomes is complex and influenced by multiple factors, including:
    - Type and severity of trauma
    - Individual genetic background
    - Environmental factors
    - Epigenetic modifications (gene expression influenced by experience)
While COMT genotypes may contribute to individual differences in stress regulation and mental health, they do not guarantee specific outcomes. Many people with the Met/Met genotype, for example, may not develop mental health issues, and many with the Val/Val genotype may still experience difficulties.

That PTSD side is a sad "convenience" of trauma bonding.

Just FYI that's not what trauma bonding means. Trauma bonding is something that happens in abusive relationships it's not when you relate to someone else and have a whole conversation about having shared trauma.
