In Eastern Europe we do ''knee burpees'' as part of warm up and condition for exact same reason. Most of the times you don't have the chance to fully sprawl on your opponent and thats when you get caught. Hope you are recovering well and look forward to seeing you back wrestling on the international scene. Good luck sir🙏
@@Chente_Bui its difficult to explain without actually showing it. It's pretty much a fast switch/ jump of your knees into a squatting/attacking position and back onto your knees/ thighs. It's a wrestling traditional way of developing a good double leg defence. You learn how to sprawl properly and keep your hips close to the floor and your back arched. Look up videos of Eastern European wrestlers warming up and you very likely going to see this move part of their warm up.
I like everything you are saying here, as a youth coach though I still hesitate to teach younger kids this sprawl because they don’t really understand hip pressure yet and I also really don’t want them getting used to being on two knees in front of an opponent even though ideally they wouldn’t be on their knees for long. What are your thoughts about this with teaching youth wrestlers? In my case I’m talking about beginning wrestlers ages 3rd- 6th grade primarily
Thanks for sharing your world-class knowledge! For wrestling styles like sumo or bokh where going on knees isn't allowed, how would you "sprawl"? What do you think would be the differences?
For the slight position change into a shot(let’s say a simple but effective double leg or swing under in any motion fast or slow) how do I make sure I get my points with out looking at the score board but you can’t really hear your coach the best.???
I see, great explanation. However, the point of sprawling then scissoring is to keep the legs away from the opponent. But if we go on our knees, our legs are close to our opponent and they can grab it since it’s closer to them no?
That’s incorrect, that’s why you need to use your head and hands to block and also go backwards . You can try to grab my legs if you want if you don’t believe me😂
No not reallt! Wrestling mats are pretty soft if you haven’t noticed😂 I have a completely torn PCL and this doesn’t bother me. Since you are jumping back and away you don’t directly slam your knees downward so it’s not painful
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Stevan! I have a question: how does freestyle translate to folkstyle and vice versa? What are the pro’s and con’s of folkstyle transitioning to freestyle? Was it hard going from freestyle back to folkstyle too?
They are about 90% the same maybe even more. The neutral wrestling is almost identical with some scrambling differences and more action with big throws and exposure in freestyle. Folkstyle is def harder to learn later bc of the control factor of top and bottom while freestyle is the better for neutral wrestling
I’ll be doing technique on the mat once a week! Any suggestions of what to do next?? Make sure to SUBSCRIBE 🥇

Brother, can you pls explain what a knee burpee is?

Happy Thanksgiving Mićić family!
@@cowboy_2362 thanks man ill definitely be working on that in the near future 🔥
Mićić The Teach! Sharing this with the high school squad ASAP.
Thank you!
as soon as i saw the knee sprawl i thought of ismael musukaev, he's so explosive when he shoots from that position its ridiculous
He’s the best at it!
2:00 sidakov does this really smooth, even though i know he does everything smooth 😂
yes he does haha we have similar body types for our weight class so thats why it works for both of us haha
Very useful 👍🏻👍🏻 I saw this knee sprawl very often in shamil mamedov match too
Yes he uses it too! This move is for world class wrestlers brother
Great vid, coaching wise we've been getting big onto reattacks and have had a lot of success, this will be great to add to the repertoire. Thanks!
Insanely good technique! See this a lot but I never really identified it until you pointed it out 💯
Glad you like it!
The World Champ knows the ways.
Of course💪
If it works against Rei Huguchi it’s good enough for me!
Haha yessir 😎🏆

I work knee sprawl is important but emphasis on jumping back and away so they can recover quick! Also they can shoot underneath
Nice video, I hope more of this kind of high level videos come to channel.
More to come!
Yo Stevan this is awesome
Thanks!
amazing thanks for sharing!
Of course!
Thank you, great details! 🎉

Good question I have no idea 😂
How would you recommend an adult bjj practitioner learn wrestling from the beginning? I find it very hard to get into.
There are a lot of wrestling video tapes that can help! From there you can start watching high level matches (world championship/olympics/etc)
Go to a class, see what transfers and what doesnt
Great.

I'll be damned. I do this too. The first time I did it I pushed off the guy's shoulders and ended up like a foot away. Hit so hard it jarred my teeth.

It’s just something you learn, get your 2 first !

do you ever just go to one knee instead of both?
Always both! That’s a MUST

CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO ON MENTAL MINDSET

Definitely bro 🧠
Isnt that hurt your knee ?? Like you land in your knee 100% in the ground by time it will effect the patella

Where is the down block at?
With your head and hands! They gotta move down anyways to jump back bilbo!
Always great questions from a Baggins!❤️💪

HELLO MICIC CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDOE ON MIDSET FOR COMPETITION MINDSET
Yes bro
Wrestling shoe collection review video?
I love this idea
I feel like the sprawl should only be used when they’re on legs not when they half way to getting to them
Isn’t the point of the sprawl to prevent them from getting on the legs though?
@ no that’s down block or knee sprawl if you were to sprawl without them being on the legs you’d be setting urself up for a attack
Yes exactly! They need to be separated forsure
Voice audio is only on the right channel
I saw that, gotta fix it
rip my knees
You’ll be fine, get some knee pads :)
