- A trimmed down version showcasing the Battle of Naboo Starfighter Scenes in one single long sequence.
A 4K HDR sample from my Extended Star Wars Episode I Cut, simply titled "The Phantom Menace - Extended Edition". As of today, both cuts have now been updated to a new 2.0 version, featuring several minor tweaks in audio, updates to the HDR color timing (especially for Episode I), tweaks to transitions, and brand new A.I. upscales of many of the deleted scenes. A total of 7 deleted scenes have been restored in the film.
Both of my Extended Episode I and II cuts are available in both 4K HDR and 1080p SDR, along with my other edits like the 4.5 hour Revenge of the Sith - The Siege of Mandaore Supercut the, Star Wars Episode IV - The Rogue Cut, and many more!

now for the real trick, HOW to not get instantly blocked like almost all my Star Wars mixes?
Anakin: Hold On!
You ever notice how there isn't the same kind of sense of scale in post-disney era as there is in the pre? Like everything feels so confined, and any wide shots are only focused on the characters, and the backgrounds are blurred.
Here, you can feel the immenseness of the hanger that surrounds Anakin and Artoo.
0:50-1:00 the reason I love this scene is that for most of the movie the droidekas were shown to be invincible as long as their shields were up. Then Anakin gets behind the controls of a starfighter and its weapons punch right through the shield like it was nothing.
Ships blasters are way more powerfull than hand blasters
They are literal cannons
Well it’s like hitting something with a pistol compared to using an F-16s cannon
@@roviobruhmomentStill satisfying though
I love how I’m this scene you can feel the panic/confusion the droidekas as they are destroyed. The first one doesn’t see it coming, the second one turns towards the star fighter before being destroyed, and the third one starts backing away to get away from the ship and get a better shot on it before also being destroyed. It’s such a little detail, but I love it so much
1:27 what a beautiful shot
Yes indeed
On Naboo, even attack runs are done with elegance.
@@kmm-studioz8161 yesssss
Idk why but 1:27 gives me goosebumps. Also can I get a F for that pilot at the beginning and at 1:30-1:34
F for the pilot
Kind of wild to realize how rarely we see starfighters doing diving attacks on capital ships in these movies. They are almost always shown flying in horizontally (probably because movie screens are short and wide). I think the initial approach on the Death Star, this approach on the Trade Federation Battleship, and Blue Squadron's dive on the shield portal over Scarif are the only ones I can recall ever seeing.
0:20
He never had the chance to join with his fellow pilots. 😢💔
All because of some camping noob
That explosion probably sent shrapnel into the cab too
I remember watching that scene hoping the pilot would bail out, but alas.
Can you imagine if Anakin had refused to join the Jedi, and instead enlisted into Naboo's junior naval academy?
Could've had a great life.
Sadly, it was Ani's destiny to take the place of the father in Mortis be it by eventually redeeming himself like he did in return of the Jedi or right there and then in the clone wars episode
That would actually be an interesting What If type of story.
Anakin: I Don’t Think 💭 So.
Not only would he have never helped Palpatine purging the Jedi, he would have also still been close to Padme, and have The chance to live with her, but not in secrecy
Ani when assigned as an Arc-170 pilot: "nah gimme something smaller and lighter" while pointing at a Jedi starfighter.
"You know, you need to be a Jedi to pilot one."
Ani: "Bet."
_I fucking love the Phantom Menace._
3:17 me too
It's a shame what happened to Jake Lloyd
Yeah
He would never come back to Star Wars after what happened to him.
@@Krypton853 He would never come back to acting period, he is very unwell
It was pretty fked up
@@Krypton853I don’t blame him.
Seeing this in theaters at 8 years old blew my mind. Had already seen the OT hundreds of times, and couldnt believe what I was seeing wasnt real.
It got a lot of hate, and some parts definitely deserved it. But so much creativity and imagination from Ep1. Thanks George, you made my childhood incredible.
3:17 like Anikans reaction
Has your opinion on what parts are good and bad changed over the years?
Sometimes it’s like that. I liked the Barbarian Brothers as a kid.
The Phantom Menace got a lot of hate because it's a flat out terrible movie. The pacing is slow, the characters are completely wooden and other than the lightsaber fight, the entire movie is a giant disappointment. It's easily the weakest Star Wars movie ever, and yes, even weaker than Episode 9. No one on Earth can tell me that Jar Jar Banks is not the most annoying Star Wars character of all time.
I agree fuck the critics this is a classic!
@@CCROGGY No it's not it's terrible!
The N-1 is so sleek and beautiful
3:32 that’s what mandalorian has in season 3 and book of boba fett.
It was a pure cheat code ship in Star wars rogue squadron video game
And even better, it's actually not too bad of a fighter design, at least by Star Wars standards
My headcanon is that this is very much a display of using the force intuitively just to be able to pull off one out of a million feats like being able to fly an N1 starfighter with no prior experience while heading headfirst into enemy space. The only thing helping him out is his experience with podracers. Luke's role in the Battle of Yavin IV is also an example but I think it's moreso seen here since Anakin here has never flown a starfighter. Some complain about this scenario but this is very much for kids like me that watched the movie back then. Seeing people your age encounter misadventures and being able to be brave in the face of peril is really cool. I'd love to see more stories set in Naboo. It's a fascinating setting in the universe.
Also, he's a podracer who is used to flying in tight spaces.
R2 also helped quite a bit. In fact, R2 already saved everyone at the start of the movie. R2 the real hero of Star Wars.
I’d highly recommend the Darth Plagueis book if you want Naboo stories. It contextualizes TPM and explains Palpatine’s background and upbringing. Overall excellent book overall
It makes sense. Anakin is supposed to be the most powerful human force user ever, literally created by the force
Vader being absolutely terrifying since he was a child
2:31 exactly
Well that ship did have a crew of over 200,000 (including droids) so his killing spree started at a very young age.
Hey I just realized something Anakin blows up a Trade federation station, his son Luke the deathstar well I guset we can say blowing up Space Stations runs in the family.
Destroying space balls since the 1960s
Star wars came out 1977. @@Ranger215able
Glad the pilots wear giant goggles. Eye protection is important
1:14 me too.
0:16 The moment Gavin Syke's squadron took flight. (You can time it to how in Battle for Naboo, Syke's squadron taking flight had at least one of the N1s destroyed by the AAT parked outside the Hanger.)
Because of a spawn camper
The sound effects are so good
Jake didn’t deserve all the negative publicity.
Poor guy. He was only NINE!
3:15 - 3:18
Congratulations Anakin!
Quígon said to stay in cockpit but he didn’t mean fly into space and almost end the Star Wars franchise. Lil Anakin griefing.
Obi Wan failed to learn from this. Always give Anakin very clear and precise instruction.
Now this is podracing 🥳
Wizard!
3:58-4:03 whoo!
3:56 "Look one of ours out of the main hold!"
03:42 the star fighter pilot communications still gives me chills and then 04:05 the guy cheering.
Makes you feel like you were there, the sequels don't have any feelings.
I remember watching the film at the cinema on release day as a kid.
I love how the only Naboo pilot who isn’t a zillion years old is a literal toddler.
We’re counting forties as a zillion now?
Not really a maths guy but I’m pretty sure that averages out to a median age of like 25
@@thiccchungo1041 zillion
The fact they had no plan to take on the droidekas and had to rely on Anakin almost accidentally taking them out is just...
0:20
Imagine being the one dude who got shot down by surface AA before the battle even started
Sniped by an AAT of all things
Don't you just hate campers?
It happens in Battlefront 2 all the time when an AAT spends the entire game trying to kill fighters on the Naboo map
My gosh the Phantom Menace rocks
4:07 the end of the stunted slime
Idk I anyone ever asked this to you, but do you intend to do an Episode I Extended Edition including the Tales of the Jedi episodes? I think it would be a really cool thing.
I considered it, but I believe the Dooku story works better as an anthology watched between Episodes I and II as all 3 episodes help form his history and perspectives, but the other 2 do not fit within the film's timetable.
Because of this, I reccomend watching the 40 minuet Dooku cut instead. For the most part, I want to keep the current prequel trilogy cuts about where they are at.
4:07 Control Ship goes boom
0:11 Wilhelm Scream
It's interesting to think about how the VFX team must have put this scene together. I'm guessing most of the spacecraft are miniatures of some sort, while the droid control ship's launch bay is likewise a miniature set, with CGI employed for shots that would be too difficult or dangerous to achieve through normal means.
Speaking of which, a prime example of Disney's blatantly mercenary handling of the franchise can be seen in their approach to visual effects, as it demonstrated that they cared more about appeasing the rabid prequel haters than about good filmmaking. The marketing for the Disney films (particularly _The Force Awakens_ ) boasted about how much they relied on practical effects, deliberately ignoring the fact that each individual prequel film had more practical effects in it than the entire original trilogy. Not only that, but these claims turned out to be untrue to begin with, as not only were the majority of effects in the Disney films still computer-generated, but much of this CGI was actually of _poorer_ quality than that in the prequel trilogy despite years of technological improvements, due to it having been churned out by overworked and underpaid CG artists.
That AAT at the front of the hanger is firing on all cylinders. And can only land a single hit.
It ain't easy attacking flying targets with something it isn't designed to fire at
Not to mention Naboo star fighters were one of the fastest small fighters in the whole galaxy. Watch the mandolorian they even have a custom one made.
Funny to see how Anakin did just destroyed core without knowing it and realised after leaving enemy ship
Can we all acknowledge that this was the first-ever chronological instance in Star Wars of destroying an enemy vehicle or installation by crippling it from the inside? In reality that started with New Hope, but either way it became a mainstay for the entire franchise, even the sequel trilogy (can we all agree that Force Awakens was good at least?).
no we cant
Lol no, it really wasn't
Those dumbass Nemoidians really left all the doors to the reactor open and then got surprised when they blew up.
But that's impossible, nothing get through the shields
IIRC, the Lucrehulk battleships are basically merchant cruisers. Freighters that have been up-armed and turned into the maritime equivalent of a Toyota Hilux with an anti-aircraft cannon in the bed. Big enough to mount a bunch of firepower on, but not designed with the sort of internal protection that a warship would require. Their hangar bay is just a cargo hold with a bunch of ships parked inside of it.
The Naboo Starfighter is one of my favorite designs from all of Star Wars. There are some truly great parts in this movie. Even the pilots helmets are cool.
Not a fan of the Droid fighter designs though.
did know naboo had a bunch of brooklyn transplants
"Let's build the main power reactor in the middle of hanger bay and totally exposed."
"Is that a good idea?"
"They are easier to service that way. Besides, what could go wrong?"
I love that n1 starfighter, I wish they actually made them for real
2:55 Most of the acting in this film was bad on account of George Lucas’s bad direction.
However, I really like the way Jake Lloyd says, “everything’s overheated.”
So perfectly adorable.
yiykes seeing what Disney did to SW these movies got elevated from meh to great
Who else gets goosebumps every time at the part where the droid control ship is exploding and the Naboo fighters are celebrating?
My favourite ship ♥and of course with Dear R2 ♥ Real Star Wars feeling, i very love this scene.....I love final moments....pilot faces :)
Imagine being eight or nine or however old Anakin was in this scene and you find yourself in a situation like this. Just thrown into a massive battle like this.
Happy 25th Anniversary!🎉🎊😄
“Now this is podracing” favourite scene in the movie other than darth maul ofc
0:52-0:56 it’s like a video game 🎮
2:58 LOL.
And then Gimli says : "That still only counts as one !"
Love how the blasters sound, why don't they sound like this in the games
Love the just straight up glock sound they left in
You know what would be a great canon? That the n1 mando uses now, is the same one anakin is using in this clip!! Thatd be cool!!
*You're all clear kid, now let's blow this thing and go home!* ⭐😃👍
1:34 Noooo, Glup Shitto was shot down
Still the best looking starfighter in all of Star Wars
Wouldn’t that suck to be coming out of the hangar and then immediately shot down by a tank?
*spams proton torpedos* 3:14
3:18 I don’t know anything about starship design, but putting your reactors in the same room as your hangar where it could blow up the ship from the inside seems like a bad idea.
Those are civilian ships, retrofited for war. They were not allowed to create warships. So they created merchant ships. Then put weapons on them. Those are a giant bay with a lot of space. Then they put fighters and guns in it. You have to infiltrate it to deztroy the ship.
Now this is podracing😂😂
You missed where the space battle starts, but otherwise, nice job.
この時のパイロットさん。ダースベイダーと会うんだよね。
この時の歓声とその時の落胆の差がえぐいな。
I wonder how R2 fits into this ship. I mean there is no room for his legs...
In a cross-section image I saw, the astromechs seem to be taken apart to fully integrate with the ship's systems
Force magic.
His legs retract.
I'd forgotten just how stilted the dialogue in this was, it really DOES take me out of it. If only George cared as much about directing his actors as he did creating these incredibly imaginative worlds.
So if Gunray was on this Control Ship when it exploded, how is it he was still alive in Revenge of the Sith on Mustafar?
What? He was ON Naboo during the battle. And you're thinking of the Saak'ak. This one was named Vuutun Palaa
Anakin frees Naboo when he was 10, Leia trust Obi-Wan when She was 10 but what about Ben in the Mandalorian? Yes, Ben was only Four when he learn to kill at Age Four killing Thrawn and his Minions Moff Gideon and Morgan Elsbeth, even he was different from his grandfather and his mother. Anakin help Padme to frees Naboo and Ben save his family. Same Deja vu. Same generation.
In the Star Wars world there is seldom any age discrimination.
Honestly would any of us have done it differently? "Ill try spinning, thats a good trick"
The writing? Oh absolutely yes. TPM was good originally, then Lucas childified it. I would keep the original script. I feel this way for most of the movies. But at least 5 of them are good & dont NEED changing. 4 need remakes. ROTJ is the fence sitter. I like it, but the Luke v Vader & Palpatine scenes were originally on Coruscant (so says some original drafts anyway)
Iden versio destroyed the best dogfight ship ever
Darth Vader de morro
Back when this was considered the worst star wars media out there 😅 looking back it doesn't seem that bad in comparison
I mean, Anakin was suppose to be grown like he was in AOTC. Lucas only fumbled by making it with literal children. No hate to Jake Lloyd, but someone older shouldve been here.
So we're not gonna act like the Holiday Special doesn't exist?
Never a fan of this space battle. No dogfights. No personalities in other pilots. Feels more like a ride at Star Wars Tours Disneyland (yeah, I know this was before Disney aquired Lucasfilm). Just railroaded Anakin from point A to point B.
