The Cambridge scene was less pop-inclined as the Liverpool one was, while simultaneously less "soul music" inclined (since so many of the English bands, particularly in Liverpool, during the early '60s started out imitating a LOT of Chuck Berry and Fats Domino and whatnot). And started dropping the acid a LOT sooner. But there are parallels with several of the Brit movements in the '60s, especially when so many started coming together in London.
This just sounds really old-fashioned to me. I bet it sounded old-fashioned when it came out, but in a bad way...like in that janky Moody Blues way.. - all the psychedelic music of that era did. Like old fashioned time stood still... like there was a 30 year span between 1964 and 1967, and this song was caught in the middle of it.
Go to bed, its past your bedtime. You weren't alive in the 60's, or the 70's. Guaranteed. They were so far ahead of their time it was silly. How dare you throw the Moody Blues in the same stratosphere as Floyd? Gtfoh.
Oh, and if you have any questions, look at the year "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" came out. They were ultra progressive, you just know nothing about music. "Sounds old fashioned.." wtf
I was named after this song! My dad’s a big pink floyd fan
See u play
Oh my gosh I can see a baby playing in the backyard in my mind and it has ever made this song so much more lovely.

It's funny how my uncle said I wouldn't like Pink Floyd but there's a literally a song with my name in it. I was also born in May.
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily.
One of my all time Favourite Songs! when I first heard this Song my first thought this Group were before their time Fantastic Band!
The early music reminds me of the Beatles...

Not the typical dark Pink Floyd. This one has a happy feel.

Psychedelic music was anything but old fashioned
