Such a good review. Your voice sounds formal, like a news reader.

Thanks for the video. I have the 18 80 and 70 200 and have tested both on the C500 MK II and C70. Interesting that the 70 200 will work on the full frame C500 but the 18 80 will not work on the full frame mode. The 18 80 will only work in the 35mm mode even if combined with the .71 speedbooster on the C70. I use the RC-V100 for all my testing and the there is no Automatic gain control for the 18 80 on the C500 but there is on the C70. Both lenses work superbly on both cameras. Overall, there is more functionality using the RC-V100 with the C500 than with the C70, however. It seems Canon should be able to upgrade the firmware on the C500 to include auto ISO and the 120 fps in full frame and/or 35mm. The C500 is the top of line for Canon and seems it should have those two functions.

Thank you for a fantastic review of this lens. I almost pulled the trigger on this, but you saved me :)

If there were other 18-80 options on the market, I'd heavily consider them, but at the moment, it's the only EF/EF-S lens that fulfills that zoom range with a constant aperture and quality glass. I read that Canon may be announcing some more cinema zooms later this week, but I'm assuming they'll have the RF mount.

is the zoom servo lightning-fast like a B4 broadcast lens? Or it is sloooow? Thanks!

Probably not B4 lens fast, but it can still be ramped with relative haste.

I used it for a Wedding just the other month and it performed well.
It does get a bit heavy when handholding, though.
Works great on a tripod and the zoom feature does come in handy for smooth zooms during the ceremony towards the back of the crowd.
If you're looking for something more portable, lightweight and better in low-light, the EF-S 17-55 might be a good alternative.

Will this work with the Canon C70? Assuming you just use the RF to EF adaptor?
