When I was growing up my mum used to work for a solicitor, so she'd always take me around the city to different places as she was doing her rounds. Moved to Melbourne 15 years ago and it's a little bit of New York, Asia and Europe all mixed into one. The diversity is my favourite part. Quite an insular population but once people open up you make friends for life. Beautiful summers, freezing winters amazing food, secrets down every alleyway and somewhere to go to every night should you choose. Loved the video.
Gotham City you almost was correct. Melbourne was once called Batmania. Back then Melbourne was the richest city in the world due to the gold rush in Victoria at Ballarat. Both Batman and Fawkner settled in the new town, which had several interim names, including Batmania, Bearbrass, Bearport, Dutergalla, Glenelg, Neramnew, and The Settlement, before being officially named Melbourne on 10 April 1837 by Governor Richard Bourke in honour of the British Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne.

Over 270 ethnicities in Melbourne and over 1000 suburbs outside the CBD. Melbourne is a great city but the weather can be “yeah nah, let’s go North” in Winter. December to April is the best weather with temps regularly 30+-40+ C , sunny and dry in Melbourne. Our East Coast Winter from Sydney to the far North is 20+C with sunshine nearly every day but prone to very tropical wet weather in our Summer. Basically you can have a holiday in the sun at any time in Australia, Nth, Sth, E, and W just choose the right destination for the time of year.
@judileeming1589 that figure includes shires ,councils ,non post code areas. Melb has approx 340 suburbs in the continuous metro area. If 1025 suburbs was correct then that's saying melb is literally nearly double the size of the Sydney metro. And we know that's not true
Ya forgot to mention that Melbourne's cafes-restaurants impose a 10% surcharge on WEEKENDS, 15% on PUBLIC HOLIDAYS... and 1.5 -2.0% more if you pay by EFTPOS or CREDIT cards...!! Welcome to Melbourne...!!
