    Not too bad. In a way the slow continuous focus seems cinematic to me. The slow response hides the failing auto focus in a somewhat human way. Some modern auto focus are so quick that when they make mistakes it looks almost robotic because they focus instantaneously.

    haha.. @ 3:37 min there is a guy in the background riding a Segway Mini Pro. lol. I have two of these and ride them all the time. I guess Guangdong hasn't banned them in public areas?

    Auto focus is not good. At 1:55 you can see it's focusing on the building "Covita coffee" instead of the person walking. And as she walks along, it just locks on focusing on the background behind her instead of her.

    i think, that kit lens to GX80/GX85 (12-32mm) little bit less lose focus

    • @viigim7572
      @viigim7572 8 лет назад

      it;s because the 12-32 is a very small pancake lens so the focus distance is very short. but no DOF. :(

    Hi, the stabilizer of the gx85 isn't a problem for the gimbal? Can you use the touch screen for focusing with the gimbal without making move too much the camera? I try to look for the best camera for using with a steady cam and for using low depth of field. For having a film look like. Sorry for my English.

      GX85's Video AFC is a JUNK. rubbish. I recently purchased G85 and tested it for a while. face detection shows improvement, barely usable, not still at least 2 generation behind from Sony, not even to mention the Best Fuji XT2 video AFC. and I expect the olympus EM1 mark II can achieve good results. later see my testing videos.

      What about the Dual IS on the GX 85, the beginning of the video seemed ok? Didn't it? (But the face detection sucks)

      GX85 or even the latest G85 is still slow for face AF. also the 5 axis IS, accordng to my expensive and testing so far, ( many lenses) is still not as perfect as the sony's IS system, it's better to go back to sony.

      do you think a6000 (not a6300/6500) is a better photo/video camera than gx85?

  • @GlendaleFilipinoSDA
    @GlendaleFilipinoSDA 8 лет назад

    ya it requires some play to get the face detection on.

    • @apeguitar2975
      @apeguitar2975  8 лет назад

      so I said the A6300 is really the king of AF.

    Hey - didn't the autofocus improve after some software updates even a bit?

    • @apeguitar2975
      @apeguitar2975  7 лет назад +1

      No use. Even the latest GH5's AF shows significant improvement, but it's still total junk compared to Sony or Fuji's XT2/XT20. It's ridiculous for a video camera still use contrast AF.

      Well I need sth to film landscapes and cities during vacations so I think it should be enough for such a no professional task, right? I want it to look good but I won't rather track a person in the shot or some other object. Also, I think the focus performance depends on the specific lens, am I right? Some of them have better or worse performance in terms of AF. Which are the best and which are the worst in your opinion? Or you haven't tried that many? Cheers.

      If shoot architecture, landscape, or events no need DOF use panasonic.
      if you need fixed object use Sony a6300/a6500/a7sii or a7rii or Fuji XT2/XT20. The best performancer is Canon 80D. but no 4K and no log profile
      once again Panasonic's AFC is rubbish. even the the latest GH5.

    did you use any external mic or the sound is mostly from the internal mic?

    • @apeguitar2975
      @apeguitar2975  8 лет назад

      GX85 has no mic slot. Now the G80 has released. lets see how much it will be. it has mic jack.

      Hey - thanks for a very detailed test and video. I get that the AF is bad but maybe if I just want to shoot on holidays, my trips it's enough? For some more professional project I'll surely use manual focus. Also, maybe some other lenses, like the kit one 12-32 has better AF? Do you know by any chance? Cheers!
