I’m a US citizen from India. Although it didn’t happen personally with me but it is so very true. If you want to come, come legally otherwise there are many young and middle aged both male and female from the sub continent who are either homeless or stressed out. It so nice of you two guys for bringing such issues in the light. I am sure you can do more. Please show some hopes and ways to all those struggling here already. 👍

There are few Australian employers whi are Aisan.background in restaurants they exploit their workers if they are caught they are fined thousands of dollars employers cannot exploit employees as easily as in USA.
USA was a dream in 90s but not anymore. Many engineering friends of mine have come back in the last 2 yrs and settled back here in india. Salary here is quite good here as well as compared to the US. Things don't look rosy anymore in US.

I am totally agree with you. Nobody wants to earn more than them. They are treat very badly to student at job. Everyone is looking for their profits, no one can worry about the person’s effort at work. I am support to you and thank you for shearing this dark reality.

I am an US citizen came from India in the 90s as an IT hire on h1b. One thing I learnt pretty quickly is NEVER work for an Indian owned IT consulting firm in USA never, they treat you bad if are still on visa but if you are a permanent resident or citizen they won’t mistreat you but they still would not respect you like an American employer would treat you. So my advice is always work for an American owned company in USA.
You all are forgetting the mentality of Indians. During my gulf countries staying during 15 years since 1989 to 2001 I got plenty of opportunities to immigrated to Canada Australia and even USA UK, but thank God I came back to India and well settled with my own house 🏠 and car with my family. Those who were immigrated 20 years back wanted to come back
Became engineering graduate in mid eighties, despite having huge scope to abroad and advance western countries, opted for Govt of India service,now retired and getting very good pension. It was good choice, I always feel.

I am enjoying life like anything - I am working for American MNC in Bangalore -- Visited America few times -- BUT never worked there .. I am really Happy In India -- Our country .. No Passport required here in India . This USA dream is cultural Issue - Parents love to speak about their children in states which is biggest EGO statement -- My daughter Rank Student in COMPUTER SCIENCE and working for highly reputed MNC in Bangalore -- I am discouraging her to go to USA on L1 visa which she might get without much difficulty .. Tackle this EGO issue -- everything will fall in place ..

I was in a conference in Chicago and waited to buy some DVDs and Indian stuffs, went to the street where lot of Indian and Pakistan stores and restaurants are there. I was in an Indian restaurant where, rats were running and the owner tried to hide it. Another interesting think is that, I went to buy a DVD to a Pakistan store and asked the price. By seeing me he told if you buy then only I shall tell you the price otherwise no. I told him keep your DVD, I am not going to buy it. This is what is happening there. Thank you for telling to the students who are coming to USA.
It’s 100% true I worked as a head chef in most part of USA and Indian restaurants and their owners don’t even pay after working day and night bcoz of less manpower they make us to work mostly gujrathi and Punjabi owners do this kind of things

I totally agree with you on most of your story. The short changed by the person behind the counter goes from $1 to $10 according to my experience in Australia which I count it as stealing from the customer's. Mostly Gas or Petrol stations are the places where people get short changed because everyone is doing it regardless of their color. Billions of dollars a year are being stolen from customers around the globe, you wont know unless you cross check your receipt with the change.

Very nice video. This is the reality of Indian store owners in America. My experience is work for American stores and American company. They pay better and also American people are kind and respectful to employees mostly . If you are staying here on your own it's better to keep American people as friends .They will go out of their way to help you .Sorry to say Indians don't help Indians .This is my own experience. I think you had bad experiences in Chicago. I came in 1967 as a student. I lived in Chicago in 1968 summer. I also lived in El Paso Texas, St. Louis Missouri, Phoenix Arizona, and New York City. My 55 years experience makes me say DO NOT CUT YOUR ROOTS IN INDIA. I wish I didn’t leave India. I was from a poor family in India with no money to pay for books and my family needed help too. So I had to come. India is not the same now. You can make it in India now.

Before watching this video, I had a completely opposite notion about Indian newcomers being helped by people of their own country. Its shocking to know the harsh reality through this video. Although, this video is an eyeopener for Indians planning to settle/study in US but not just this, also throws light on the grim reality of people living in this world and society at large. Someone who is in a weak state gets taken advantage of, insecure people trying to satisfy their ego by looking down on others which makes them think would bring themselves up and above all, Jealousy factor and due to that, trying to harm next person's career or hinder their success. What these ignorant people don't realise is, there is something called as 'Karma'. It will strike you when you least expect it, and when it wreaks havoc on such people, then they start ranting in front of everybody that why this shit is happening in their life when they never tried to harm anyone.

don’t come to USA for working in restaurants and motels. Come to study, research and do innovation. It is a land of opportunities. So go to premier institutes, earn funding in the form of research or teaching. Otherwise if you coming to work in some desi restaurants then you should stay back in India.

We are a 2nd gen Canadian and though I did high school in India, all our family moved here a long time. And omg, I didn't know such things happens in the US between desis! In my experience here in Ontario, things like that do happen to newcomer students but it's not common, the older desis are helping in their capabilities. Likely because, unlike the US, most desis coming to Canada comes here and settled in families, not a lone student whose whole families are in India. Desis are more friendly here than in the US, but we faces racism from non-desis once in a while but that might get worse lately who knows (still better than the US). But that too depends on who and where you are. From this video, I'd say, if you're a searching for work. Canada is better than the US.
Very true I was in the restaurant management business and the best as a manager I started fine dining in Indian restaurants in America but did not like the owners because they treated other employees like shit and I had to bare with them to keep my job that's why I quit and started my own business and I treat my employees with respect Amen, you can be proud being an Indian but learn to treat your employees like your family no matter what race they are from
Most Indians who go West don't like to work for Indian business owners. It's bcoz Indian rich treat people working for them as slaves, dogs and don't provide any work life balance. I live in Chicago suburb. What you are saying it is true. Infact Devon Ave used to extremely filthy back in 90s and 2000s but now due to strong regulations these Desi's started behaving and straighten out. When you compare Chinatown and Devon Ave in Chicago you will get the answer. I remember Back in 90s 5 desi software companies(Mastech and others) blacklisted for many years due to taking advantage of the Indian workers. How about Unisys used to hold software Engineers passport and get signed them in a bond of 10 lakhs so that they will never think of leaving their employer. You projected all the bad experiences in Chicago, however there are many good things in Chicago which is unique in the world. There are good and bad in everywhere. I can go on and on with you like When I go to India I have to spend almost half a day in bank to get my work done where as in USA that same job takes only 15 minutes. But that is not the point here. Most people get hurt like you when coming to USA they have a very nice rosy picture of USA in their mind . Life is very fast and difficult here compared to India. We Indians are very smart that's why we survive here and outpace many Americans. Again not everything is for everybody. Most people these days try to take shortcut route and lost their ability to be on their own. you need to be happy what you have and criticizing and pulling others will not get you anywhere especially in USA. The best example is you will find most Gujratis are wealthy and established because they know how to stay united and work together which is rare in others.
My sister had studied M.B.A. in Illinoise in 1980s, I can't say the exact year, but she was with her family, she had worked in very big companies and now she is in Florida.

I have lived in Chicago for almost 50 years and did not know that Indian Students are being exploited to that level. Please advise the students to go to temple and seek help. We have many temples in Chicago area. Advise them to see Om DHINGRA at Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago in Lemont ,Illinois . I promise we will try our level best to help the deserving students . We have helped many students .
I've lived and worked in the US for 30 years. I came as a student on an F-1 visa with my parents' financial support/ backing right after high school. If you don't have money for your education, do not come here. Plain and simple. Don't break laws by purchasing fake IDs and illegally working if you aren't willing to face the legal consequences if you are caught. If you want to work for unscrupulous employers, you may expect treatment as described on the video. Don't come here if you don't have the money. Do what you have to in India or elsewhere to survive.

Students come to US on F1 visa and its illegal for them to work outside their university. They can try getting some job within the university (like library, gym, dining etc). From your story these students are working illegally and they can get into trouble with the immigration. I suggest students dreaming about US to have enough money for the tuition and then try for a job within the university. Try making contacts with university students before getting into the US and make some sensible planning.

If I didn't get job their then I am doomed. I also got one university which is too cheap and it needs only 25 lacs. Bt roi is worse. Bt now in usa indians not getting jobs. Hence I'm stucked in deadlock that whether I have to choose good University or bad university. My friends who went their in 2022-23 didn't get any job, part time or internship also. I’m a US citizen from India. Although it didn’t happen personally with me but it is so very true. If you want to come, come legally otherwise there are many young and middle aged both male and female from the sub continent who are either homeless or stressed out. I am an US citizen came from India in the 90s as an IT hire on h1b. One thing I learnt pretty quickly is NEVER work for an Indian owned IT consulting firm in USA never, they treat you bad if are still on visa but if you are a permanent resident or citizen they won’t mistreat you but they still would not respect you like an American employer would treat you. So my advice is always work for an American owned company in USA.

I was in a conference in Chicago and waited to buy some DVDs and Indian stuffs, went to the street where lot of Indian and Pakistan stores and restaurants are there. I was in an Indian restaurant where, rats were running and the owner tried to hide it. Another interesting think is that, I went to buy a DVD to a Pakistan store and asked the price. By seeing me he told if you buy then only I shall tell you the price otherwise no. I told him keep your DVD, I am not going to buy it. This is what is happening there. I totally agree with you on most of your story. The short changed by the person behind the counter goes from $1 to $10 according to my experience in Australia which I count it as stealing from the customer's. Mostly Gas or Petrol stations are the places where people get short changed because everyone is doing it regardless of their color. Billions of dollars a year are being stolen from customers around the globe, you wont know unless you cross check your receipt with the change.

I think you had bad experiences in Chicago. I came in 1967 as a student. I lived in Chicago in 1968 summer. I also lived in El Paso Texas, St. Louis Missouri, Phoenix Arizona, and New York City. My 55 years experience makes me say DO NOT CUT YOUR ROOTS IN INDIA. I wish I didn’t leave India. I was from a poor family in India with no money to pay for books and my family needed help too. So I had to come. India is not the same now. You can make it in India now.

Before watching this video, I had a completely opposite notion about Indian newcomers being helped by people of their own country. Its shocking to know the harsh reality through this video. Although, this video is an eyeopener for Indians planning to settle/study in US but not just this, also throws light on the grim reality of people living in this world and society at large. Someone who is in a weak state gets taken advantage of, insecure people trying to satisfy their ego by looking down on others which makes them think would bring themselves up and above all, Jealousy factor and due to that, trying to harm next person's career or hinder their success. We are a 2nd gen Canadian and though I did high school in India, all our family moved here a long time. And omg, I didn't know such things happens in the US between desis! In my experience here in Ontario, things like that do happen to newcomer students but it's not common, the older desis are helping in their capabilities. Likely because, unlike the US, most desis coming to Canada comes here and settled in families, not a lone student whose whole families are in India. Desis are more friendly here than in the US, but we faces racism from non-desis once in a while but that might get worse lately who knows (still better than the US). But that too depends on who and where you are. From this video, I'd say, if you're a searching for work. Canada is better than the US.

Very true I was in the restaurant management business and the best as a manager I started fine dining in Indian restaurants in America but did not like the owners because they treated other employees like shit and I had to bare with them to keep my job that's why I quit and started my own business and I treat my employees with respect Amen, you can be proud being an Indian but learn to treat your employees like your family no matter what race they are from
Most Indians who go West don't like to work for Indian business owners. It's bcoz Indian rich treat people working for them as slaves, dogs and don't provide any work life balance. All over the world Indian students nowadays prefer to work for white business owners and employers, as they treat them far better and respect their bodies and right for work life balance, I am moving to Canada this month with my family and we will not work for any Indian employer but a white Canadian owner ❤❤ thanks 🙏😊

I live in Chicago suburb. What you are saying it is true. Infact Devon Ave used to extremely filthy back in 90s and 2000s but now due to strong regulations these Desi's started behaving and straighten out. When you compare Chinatown and Devon Ave in Chicago you will get the answer. I remember Back in 90s 5 desi software companies(Mastech and others) blacklisted for many years due to taking advantage of the Indian workers. How about Unisys used to hold software Engineers passport and get signed them in a bond of 10 lakhs so that they will never think of leaving their employer. You projected all the bad experiences in Chicago, however there are many good things in Chicago which is unique in the world. There are good and bad in everywhere. I can go on and on with you like When I go to India I have to spend almost half a day in bank to get my work done where as in USA that same job takes only 15 minutes. But that is not the point here. Most people get hurt like you when coming to USA they have a very nice rosy picture of USA in their mind . Life is very fast and difficult here compared to India. We Indians are very smart that's why we survive here and outpace many Americans. Again not everything is for everybody. Most people these days try to take shortcut route and lost their ability to be on their own. you need to be happy what you have and criticizing and pulling others will not get you anywhere especially in USA. The best example is you will find most Gujratis are wealthy and established because they know how to stay united and work together which is rare in others.
My sister had studied M.B.A. in Illinoise in 1980s, I can't say the exact year, but she was with her family, she had worked in very big companies and now she is in Florida.

I've lived and worked in the US for 30 years. I came as a student on an F-1 visa with my parents' financial support/ backing right after high school. If you don't have money for your education, do not come here. Plain and simple.
Don't break laws by purchasing fake IDs and illegally working if you aren't willing to face the legal consequences if you are caught. If you want to work for unscrupulous employers, you may expect treatment as described on the video. Don't come here if you don't have the money. Do what you have to in India or elsewhere to survive.

Students come to US on F1 visa and its illegal for them to work outside their university. They can try getting some job within the university (like library, gym, dining etc). From your story these students are working illegally and they can get into trouble with the immigration. I suggest students dreaming about US to have enough money for the tuition and then try for a job within the university. Try making contacts with university students before getting into the US and make some sensible planning.
Students don't get on campus jobs that's why they do off campus jobs. And south Asians fayda uthate hai iska.

If I didn't get job their then I am doomed. I also got one university which is too cheap and it needs only 25 lacs. Bt roi is worse. Bt now in usa indians not getting jobs. Hence I'm stucked in deadlock that whether I have to choose good University or bad university. My friends who went their in 2022-23 didn't get any job, part time or internship also. Most students want to go abroad cuz our visa is shit. Like me, I don't even want to settle their. I just want to work in usa for some years and need visa so I can travel anywhere in world. Why do you need US education to travel to any country. I think you are confused about the visa system.
Try doing some research in your field and publishing it out in renowned conferences or journals. That way you might get scholarships in the US. I suggest not to get a loan to come to the US.
